Hoist (link)

[OOC] Late to the game as usual...

Previous perception check: 16+6 =22 (link)

Hoist peers at the tiny pyramids with a practiced cartographer's eye. Hmmm, ... [OOC] have I seen anything like this before? Do these patterns match anything I have seen on a map or in the heavens?

Current Athletics checks: 11+13 = 24

4+13 = 17
  (link)

[OOC] Any bonuses for my skyhooking, racial traits? Or could I provide assist bonuses for the rest of our party?

[OOC] Welcome back! - Skyhooking functions (as of now) only as an attack roll VS an Athletics DC of the point you're using as a center of your "flying area", so it doesn't have much to do with Athletics, aprt from the fact that you need Athletics to climb the rope in case you loose the momentum (that is, in case you don't land in time). But why did you roll two Athletics checks? I guess we can say the first one is the requested one, right Veritatis? :D

Anyway, I propose a strategy at this point: what if Hoist and the Pyromancer (the two with Athletics) go into the jungle for a bit of "recon", while Cylonea and maybe Sigg go and try to open a second passage (if it's still possible), namely the one that would have required "water+earth"? We could use the soil of this strange underground jungle to make the required mud...

Hoist (link)

[OOC] Veritatis said 2 checks to climb down (10 squares hieght). I like the scouting idea..

Hoist sets his line and prepares to descend into the garden.

"I am happy to check things out down there while you (Cylonea and Sigg) examine other options. I prefer to be doing something while the thinkers think; it makes me feel useful. Try to keep up, Pyromancer!"

With a wink and a smile to show he was not being mean-spirited, Hoist disappears over the edge.

[OOC] I will ready an action in case anything nasty is waiting in the garden. I will make a Nature check to try and understand what might be a "non-foolish" way to "wake and feed" the plants...

Unnamed Murasa pyromancer

"In case you didn't notice, threader, I'm not one of those flappy lullmages whose hardest climb was the stairs of the Lighthouse back at Seagate..."

2 Athletics checks (link):
- 8+11=19 (20 thanks to Adept's Insight theme encounter power)
- 17+11=28

Clearly showing off, the muscled mage climbs down the secured rope with his arms only, the body hanging freely but held very still, as if to highlight the confidence of the move.

Cylonea

"Uhh... Sirs... I think you might need Sigg's help down there if something bad happens... I'll try to be quick enough in my inspection so that nothing happens, but I think you could really need his help. Plus, I will be able to call the gales of the roil later, and drop down there safely. Maybe Sigg could lend me his wolf for precaution..?"

[OOC] The rules specify that when separated by more than 20 squares, druid and animal companion don't share their set of actions anymore, allowing the animal to act independantly.
Also, Sigg should be able to climb down safely with his +8 bonus and maybe an Aid Another action from Hoist.

Sigg agrees to the plan benevolently. He sends the wolf to Cylonea's side with a barely audible command...

Unnamed Murasa pyromancer

"Not that I think you'd need the wolf with the elemental spirit you can conjure, primal artificer...
However, let's be quick. I have quite a bit of burst-strength, but I'm not that good enduring prolonged and bad environmental conditions like the ones we're suffering here."

"Threader, help me set up some good... threading, for the druid."

[OOC] Maybe it doesn't exactly work like this, but I guess two Aid Another actions here might represent us setting up a system of ropes to give Sigg a total of +4 to his Athletics checks.

Aid Another (Athletics) action (DC: 10+1/2 level of aided = 12): 26 (link)

(Hoist should make it automatically with his +13) [OOC] He's a threader after all!

Cylonea

I must run... But... Hey..!

"Oh, before you start helping Sigg, hmm... Mage! Could you throw me a compact, small ball of soil from down there? Throw it straight up, I will reach for it with my telekinesis."

Readies action for a Telekinetic Grasp when the ball is within reach of the power (5)

Unnamed Murasa pyromancer

"Sure thing young lady."

[OOC] Trying an Athletics check instead of a dex-based roll, after all I just have to throw it straight up, 5 or more squares.

Athletics check: 14 (link) [OOC] Oops... Will it be enough? If not, I guess Hoist is going to try next, maybe with a ranged attack.

Descending slowly enough not to take unnecesary risks, Hoist manages to help the others getting down, which all achieve with little effort, since the wall they use is covered with little bushes and rocks that easies up their task.

Reaching the bottom, they feel really jungled up. The vegetation is profuse, but somewhat dark, which makes occasional flowers even brighter than seemed from up there.

[OOC] I wouldn't have asked for a check to throw up a little soil, but anyway...

Soil is muddy enough to difficult it being throwed up, but a little burrowing found more solid material. After throwing it up the most straightly he could, Cylonea focused her attention in it, quickly forming a perfect sphere that soon reached for her hands.

Hoist, Pyro and Sigg start to wander around. The jungle is encased in some sort of inner gigantic cave. From up there, they could see a structure near the middle, so they figure out that reach it would give them some insight into where they were exactly.

[OOC] For the ones down there, I'll need Nature, Insight and Perception checks. An Endurance one would be nice, too. Meanwhile, in the less humid section of the Upper East Side... oops... sorry, wrong show. Let's go to the merfolk and the wolf.

Grabbing the sphere of soil telekinetically, Cylonea walked back the corridor. Arriving at the triangular section they were locked in moments ago, she threw the soil combining it with water into the fold between Earth and Water. As before, nothing seemed to happen for a moment, but then again the walls separted from each other, and another corridor appeared. It looked like the same length (as far as she could guess, since she couldn't see the far end), and the same decorations runned along it.

Lisha sniffed into the air and howled loud. Then it turned its head toward the first corridor.

[OOC] Does Cylonea speak wolfish?

Cylonea

Oh no, what is it Lisha? Are you frightened by something?

Nature check ([OOC] To understand better if the wolf looks frightened by something or if it's more because of some bad environmental condition. That is, to understand if she felt more of a physical or "psychological" stress...): 14+11=25 (link)

I didn't sense anything strange, but... Wait...

Cylonea closes her eyes and tries to focus on her olfactory sense which served her well in the past, in more than one occasion.

What I really hoped was that opening this corridor, something could change in the air of this complex... Is the air different, now..?

  Perception check: 11+13=24 (link)

Even before she had finished processing all the sensations
that the tense moment had in store for her, Cylonea
nearly inadvertently summoned her worldspeaker spirit
