Long before any adventurer can remember, there have been several legends among the most accomplished of this kind of people. None of them though, has achieved the remembrance of any of The Five.

A very sui generis guild, The Five was composed by one of each of the major races in Zendikar. Afar from any civilized area, they reached the deepest secrets of every land they fall in, retrieving treasures long taken by completely lost. Centuries ago, they all decided to retire all of a sudden. Why, no one knew but themselves. The maps they graphed, nontheless, were  safely guarded in several locations, asked and used by contemporary adventurers in their own search for gold and glory.

And that’s exactly when, where and why the Magnificent Order of the Followers of the Five was born. Almost in every repository of knowledge, equipment store or traveler’s safehouse, a member of this Order appeared, offering insight and information in exchange of future payment and a very specific piece to be delivered to them. Nowadays, the Order is the most trusted source for old maps and high-quality adventuring tools. And, now and then, they hire a very specific group with very specific missions. To help them select the most capable team, they organize several contests they call Quests, whose winners become known as The Covenant of the Forgotten Relics. With the Order support and patronage, the Covenant travels around Zendikar looking for the most important objects one can imagine, and facing the most dangerous locales and creatures. By now, the members of any of the previous Covenants are widely known not only for their fortunes, but for their personal prestige also.

None of these have helped the last Covenant members, though, of finding death without warning during their most recent expedition.

[OOC] This is where we all work together. This innocous organization, the Order, had made all your characters members of the Covenant in the past few weeks. This narration should get all together from your respective backgrounds until the point we kick off in the other thread "In media res". I will post the last Coventants stories, so you can link your backgrounds to them if you want.

By the way, should we use another text color for OOC?

[OOC (aka Out Of Character)] Wow, love this!
I'm also positive to color coding!
I think the typical post should be like this:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cylonea walks around with circumspection with her big eyes opened wide.

Rolls perception check: 23 (link to roll: http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2824890/ )

"Sigg, my friend, I think we could use your marvelous tracking knack here, I think I might have found some strange footprints..."

[OOC] Hey guys, I'm off to buy some milk, slow down the action 'cause I want to be THERE
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Veritatis:
While Cylonea is so intently studying the device... "ZAP!-ffsss!"

Cylonea takes 5 lightning damage... [OOC] Ouch :p
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
...
So in general I think we might use "Quoted text" for dialog, Italic text for fluffy descriptions of our actions or additions to narration, Green for OOC, Blue for mechanics, Red for particularly nasty or CRITICALLY GOOD surprises..!

[OOC] Another thing, players also post at least part of the stats of their characters in each post from what I've seen... We have everything at Obsidian Portal though, so maybe a link to the character page there (www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/zendika...) might suffice..? Veritatis decides!

I think the link would do... that way we can reduce the non-describing text to a minimum (and, in doing so, make it easier to get a blog entry with a summary)

[OOC] Okay!

I like the color coding. And I look forward to seeing the former covenant backgrounds.

For the stat block postings: I like the idea of linking to obsidian portal. That was part of the reason I had a separate "combat stat block" in my character's posting here and on google docs.

I am excited to begin! do we just jump onto in media res?
Inconsistency and procrastination...in practice.
