There's a lot of talk in the forums about Heroes of Shadow, and two of the most talked-abouts from the book are the "underpowered" Shade race, and the Blackguard.

After seeing the preview and some leaked spoilers about the Blackguard, I thought it was probably the best class to represent one of my favorite types of warrior of all-time.

Meet the Dark Eldar Incubus, from Games Workshop's Warhammer 40k!

It's clearly a shock-troop type, and dark enough both in flavor and appearance to scream for the Blackguard class as its representation in D&D. Also, even if in theory the Dark Eldar are from a fantastic far away future, nothing about this concept would look out of place in a typical fantasy world.

New archetypes for a new world

One of the most fun things about "converting" Zendikar to D&D is building characters for it.
There are more than a hundred cards in the MtG Zendikar block that represent "playable characters", and they are a great source of inspiration. - Here's a post by me with what should be the full collection, organized by type and presented as full scans and in a images-only, 3-column layout - A look at illustrations, a look at card mechanics, and a draft of D&D character already comes to mind, and chances are it's an original concept, a new take on an old one, or either way something fun to build and play.
Such is the extension of the cool factor woven into Zendikar by its designers.
