The Magic: the Gathering New Zealand National Championship is an invitation-only event, open to citizens or foreign players resident in New Zealand from Jan 1st 2010 who have won an invitation to Nationals through DCI Ratings or from qualifying events such as National Qualifiers and Last Chance Qualifiers (LCQ)
Registration Requirements
Players must have a signed waiver and consent form to compete in New Zealand Nationals. These forms will be available will be available onsite at the event or can be obtained by writing to Robert Teirney teirner@hasbro.com
Minors (those under 18 years of age) must have a parent or guardian's signature on these forms. Minors will not be able to register or play unless we receive a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. No exceptions!
To register, all participants must present one of the following forms of identification:
- driver's license, or
- A passport, or
- A copy of a birth certificate and photo ID (school IDs are acceptable)
Players not registered by 8:45 AM on Saturday August 7 may be denied entry to New Zealand Nationals.

Registration times and locations
Registration for Australian Nationals will open at the event venue from 3- 8pm Friday August 6 and between 8am-8.45am Saturday August 7.
Format
- Standard (Magic 2011 will be Standard legal as of July 16, 2010) and Booster Draft
- 3 boosters of Magic 2011 will be used for drafting
- Deck lists are required

Tournament Length
- Day 1 will consist of 3 rounds of Standard, 3 rounds of Booster Draft, followed by the second draft and 1 round of Swiss play.
- Day 2 will consist of 2 rounds of Booster Draft, 3 rounds of Standard, and the Top 8 finals.
- 12 Swiss Rounds total, 60 minutes per round
- Top 8 will be Standard
- Top 8 single-elimination finals have no time limit; however, players are expected to play at a reasonable pace and finish their matches within 90 minutes.
Advancement
- All players may participate in all Swiss rounds
- After round 12 the top 8 players advance to the top 8 single-elimination finals

- Top 8 matches will be best 3 of 5
- Includes playoffs for 3rd and 4th
Invitations
The Top 4 players receive invitations to the 2010 World Championships in ChibaJapan. The top 3 players will form the New Zealand National Team and compete in the teams section the 4th placed player will be the team alternate.
Notes
- 40K, REL Competitive
- Players are required to use the same Standard deck for day 1, day 2, and Top 8.
- All Universal Tournament Rules and Magic: the Gathering Floor Rules are in effect for this event unless specifically overruled by information in this Format Document

Nationals Last Chance Qualifiers
If you haven't qualified for Nationals this is the last chance! All day Friday both Standard constructed and Sealed deck events will run with each winner receiving prizes and entry to New Zealand Nationals the following day. These events are open to anyone and you can play in multiple qualifiers till you succeed.

Super FNM
Already qualified? Keen to get in a bit of drafting before Nationals? Just keen to get this months FNM card? Welcome to Super Friday Night Magic! This event is a booster draft FNM event. Anyone can enter and everyone will take home a prize.

New Zealand Nationals Vintage Challenge

New Zealand Junior Challenge
So you may only have just started playing and haven't quite yet made the leap to Nationals yet. So here is your chance to make that first step to victory! Cantrip Games presents Nationals Junior Challenge. This event is your steeping stone to competitive play for you and your friends. It is an open entry Standard constructed event for players 16 and under. So start deck building and we will see who Auckland's best junior player will be champion!

Iron Man Two-Headed Giant
Ever been so frustrated you wanted to rip up your Cards? Or even your opponent's cards? Welcome to the Iron Man format. Iron man has two simple rules, if a card goes to your graveyard it gets ripped up, yours and your opponents! And the winner of each match keeps the losers cards.
This event will give you the chance to do this, using old magic boosters you will no longer need to keep your cards mint! This event will be run using the two-headed giant format so find a mate and prepare to do some damage.

The King of Cards Elder Dragon Highlander Challenge
This Nationals King of Cards are proud to present The EDH challenge tournament. EDH is the multiplayer format that has been taking players by storm. So sleeve up your favorite legendary creature for your general and prepare to take on the 100 card format. This event will be a multiplayer format. Each round you will play in a four man pod with the winner of each pod progressing to the finals. Pro-Tour Qualifier
Still want a chance to win big at Nationals? Well here is your chance to compete on the Magic the Gathering Pro-Tour. Welcome to the Pro-tour Qualifier. This is an open entry event that allows any one to sling cards in the attempt to win entry on the Pro-Tour. First prize is entry to the tour as well as return flights to the location of the tour as well as booster prizes for top finishers.

Archenemy
Archenemy is the new Multiplayer format for Magic. Ever wanted to take on four players at once? Ever wanted to team up with friends against an all powerful enemy? That's what Archenemy is all about! This format follows on the from the popular Planeschase format and brings a new look to Multiplayer magic.

This Nationals Vagabonds Takapuna is proud to sponsor this Two-Headed Giant Sealed deck tournament. M11 is the new core-set for Magic this year. So get your first chance to play M11 with your mates with the Two-Headed Giant format! Grab a friend and work out a team name and prepare to battle against other teams from around the country with your sealed deck skills!

Bring your drafting skills or just go for the rare draft with on demand booster draft. Each event is an eight player draft with booster packs for prizes.
