Is it true that members of this group no longer post to their blogs? It least not good enough to be worthy notice?

Trevor: I have been playing Dungeons and Dragons since the 70's. Yes I am that old! LOL! I was in college when I started playing AH board games and a friend showed me the basic box set. Since I was a fan of sand and Sandal movies, Harryhausen clay- mation of monsters, Sci Fi etc. I saw an opportunity to be that hero. I eventually bought the expert box set and the hard covers PHB, DMG, MM Monster compendiums and all. I have a 3.0 PHB signed by Gary (Don’t ask it’s not for sale!) I have to say I did not like 4th ed at all. The 2 game groups I gm’d for didn’t like it either too much like a tabletop WOW which I also play. We went back to 3.5 happy as clams. D&D next seems to be a return to what I remember in the AD&D and earlier versions. The 2 playtest groups I ran for have the same feeling. The XP gained is possibly too high for the individual monsters I mean orcs are 460 and there are 41 orcs in the blingdenstone adventure Chapter 5. They were only at the max 18XP? (10 + 1/HP in the AD&D DMG). The leveling table I think is too fast We finished the adventure an all were 4th level by the rules. The healers kit was not clear did the character being healed need to have a HD to spend when it was used on him or her? Or was it a free bee? You use all your HD already healing yourself, so does it grant a HD worth of healing anyway? The mechanics were simple and a lot of the math was taken out replaced with the advantage and disadvantage rule. Instead of +2 for this and +1 for that + 1 for damage + 4 expertise etc. It was a lot simpler and younger ones can play easier. I have run and am running DnD for over 30 years now and like the game. I am also in the PS as it is an OP setting and the rules are closer to 3.5. I would really like to see what other settings would be like, such as Dark Sun, Dragonlance, and/or Greyhawk in the DnD next rule set. Over all my players had fun and some were thank full the adding and subtracting was mostly removed. Regards: Gregg DCI #300058

My players and I are still playing 3.5 We barely got around to getting each of the 3.5 books by the time 4.0 came out, thus not making the switch. I've been playing since AD&D, but a lot of the people I play with are newer to the game (1-6 years). Currently a group of 11 players and 2 DMs. We are looking to playtest 'D&D Next' and see if it suits our group dynamic. Probably will not use much if any online support services if we do playtest and like the 'Next' edition. Still prefer primary reliance on physical books. But we are excited to see a new edition :)
