Sigh, this news really bothers me. What are you thinking WotC. You have really messed things up in the last couple of years.
      Good luck to you Rich.

So sad to have come across this, but it doesn't surprise me.
I've played many campaigns in various settings, and DMed plenty more all over the place, and had a lot of fun.
But then, several years ago, I discovered Birthright. Much later than when it came out, but Birthright still changed the game for me. The first campaign I DMed, started in humble Tuornen in Anuire, and ended up with a party that included a descendant of Roele who didn't know it until it was all said and done, and...

OK seems Surface Action is selling well enough to warrant Set VII ;)
We speak of a mid to late 2013 release date if you are only in the starting stages
Please look at our "personal" Set VII-... lists here on the boards to get an impression what WE would like to get
I assume if a n unit appears on most of the lists you can assume the majority of all players are badly wanting this unit.
      What you should avoid:
Raise high hopes - and then just scratch at the surface :D

EXCELLENT! Very pleased to hear confirmation of W@S Set VII. This news "end runs" any 'the end is nigh' gloom so any speculations will have a positive spin.
Also enjoiing the tidbits on Angels 20. Hope they keep comming and building momentum with Januarys preview.
Happy Holidays Rich & thanks for keeping us fans in the loop.

The Sheffild is very agressive costed - compared to other 12 point cruisers it has
      same or better armor
      better main guns
better AA (except atlanta which is worse in other respects)
better Torps as 2 (Atlanta; Duca) and slightly better than 1 (lamotte) = 1 dice more at range 2
      and also good SAs
the Comparable Belfats is at 15 points 3 points more expensive
I notice the same with the Bande Nere - at 9 points it is clearly better than the other 2 9 point light...

You know for 14 pts I was happy to take the HMS Eagle for ED2, so I agree with you that launching aircraft from is a bonus.
As always I must ask is there any chance we'll see some of the Aussie units that fought alongside her at the Battle of Calabria like the HMAS Stuart or Vampire in future sets?

In all honesty, anything better than AA 7 or so probably isn't justified for any non-US unit; American antiaircraft was really that far ahead of everyone else, thanks to the 5"/38 and the 40mm. But, it *is* a game and sometimes we have to lend a helping hand where it isn't always warranted. Taiho mounted a good number of about the best AA guns the Japanese had, even if those weren't in the same league as the US AA armament.

Congratulations for the new job. I hope you like it and wouldn't rather keep designing. But I hope you can come up with a lot of more Nerathi Legends articles. I'm enyoing the series so much. Keep up the good work. I pray for a Nerathi Legends Compilation or a Nerathi source book in the end.

My Profile

    About Me

About Me: I'm a senior game designer in Wizards' R&D department, and the author of a dozen fantasy and science fiction novels. Most of the time I work on D&D 4th Edition, but I'm also the designer behind Axis & Allies Miniatures, especially the naval minis (War at Sea).
Movies: Any good fantasy, SF, or superhero movies, naturally. I'm also a fan of John Wayne movies. At last count, I've seen over 40 of 'em.
TV Shows: Jeopardy, Baseball Tonight, the History Channel, Glenn Beck, O'Reilly. I was a big Battlestar Galactica fan while that was running, and I'm looking for the next SciFi channel show to catch onto. I like Warehouse 13 and Eureka so far.
Books, Comics and Graphic Novels: I'm a big David Weber fan, so I'm keeping up on the Honor Harrington and Armageddon Reef series. I've read the Lord of the Rings at least ten times. When I first really discovered SF and started to devour it, I was 11 years old, and my local library had a sci-fi spinner rack that was 20 years out of date. My first formative reading was Golden Age SF -- Doc Smith's Lensman books (which I still love), Robert Heinlein's juvenile SF, Ray Bradbury, A. Merritt, and all that great old stuff. It screwed me up for life!
Music: Classic rock, big band, a little classical here and there. Steely Dan and Blue Oyster Cult are among my favorites.
      Wizard Book Lines:
      Dark Sun
      Forgotten Realms
Hobbies: Gaming, of course. Also, hiking in the Cascades and wargaming. I live about an hour away from Mount Rainier National Part, and I try to get down there and hike at least four or five times a summer.
Likes: I'm a big baseball fan (specifically, the Philadelphia Phillies). I'm a news junkie and devour CNN, Fox, newspapers, and current affairs. Oh, and my 2007 Mustang convertible, which just rocks in our Northwest summers. I'm also a pretty fair hand with the gas grill and like to fix up good eats. Ask me about my lime 'n garlic spare ribs or my Moroccan kebobs!
      My Games:
      Axis & Allies
      Diplomacy
      Dungeons & Dragons
      Risk Godstorm
      RoboRally
Other Games I Play: I'm a big City of Heroes fan. And Civilization. Those are my big computer games.

Hey, I read your most recent trilogy and enjoyed every minute of it. Are you planning on continuing with the Blades of the Moonsea books? I don't usually read these kinds of books, but the reason I picked up the first book was because of the author reading you did for the Wizards D&D site.
