Yesterday we experienced a problem with the wiki section of our community software. No wiki content was displaying when links were clicked. The vendor running the community platform responded quickly and was able to correct the problem and restore the wiki. While we are pleased with the response, it’s a good reminder that unexpected problems do occur and it’s a good idea to always back up your content in another location. We are continually impressed with the amount and quality of content produced on our site, and want to make sure that your hard work is protected against any unforeseen problems.

Tomorrow, July 25th, there will be an update to the blog commenting system. The new commenting will have the same features and UI as the commenting widget on D&D articles (example here www.wizards.com/dnd/Article.aspx?x=dnd/4...)

The new commenting interface allows you to reply to individual comments. Existing comments will be preserved.

Introducing a new way to display your D&D characters on your profile page.  The “My Characters” module allows you to display mini-profiles of your D&D characters in your Wizards Community profile, either by importing details directly from the D&D Character Builder or by manually typing them into a form.  

To add this module to your profile page, use the Drag & Drop menu at the bottom left column of your profile page. Click the “on” button. Scroll down to “My Characters” in the list of modules, and click the “Add” button. You can now drag the module into a new position in any column. When you are done, click “Off” to save your changes. Now click “New Character” to start adding characters.

We are rolling out a new chat room this week to replace the room at community.wizards.com/go/chat/live

The new room has some updated styling, and allows us to switch the room to "moderated" for hosted chats with special guests. Our first live hosted chat will be this Thursday May 5th from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Pacific. It's a D&D chat with Rich Baker, discussing the upcoming Dark Legacy of Evard” encounter season. You can submit questions in advance here. There will be a transcript posted after the chat.

Note: While a room is moderated, you will not be able to chat with others in the room. Your questions will be posted to the moderators for possible selection by the guest speaker. Once the hosted chat is over, the room will return to normal chat status.
Please use this thread for feature requests for the chat room.

We are finalizing the new default theme for the Wizards community site, first announced in this post. We have one last review and then hope to launch it tomorrow, Thursday March 3rd.

The new theme has a simpler, neutral style that will work with many different background images, allowing us to create more themes and give you more choices in the background art you view. We are also launching a redesigned Featured page. We are trying something new with this. The Featured Blogs module will now show individual blogs, instead of featured bloggers. You can still find the featured bloggers over on the Blogs tab. We’ve also switched the recent forums posts to hot threads. The feedback thread for the new layout is here.

We will continue to support the old themes, but had some technical challenges with supporting the old and the new at the same time. If you find bugs, please report them in this thread and we will respond as quickly as we can.
