Figuring Out How To Organize Blog

    Saturday, September 4, 2010, 2:48 AM

I've been going through ideas in my head for the past three days on how I should get my blog on D&D out to the world.  Should I make a .com website like my WillQuestion website?  Should I ask Donnie at The Next Level Games to let me make a blog on his site to show affiliation and my full support?  Or, should I simply post my blog right here on the WOTC community?

I'm normally very decisive but with something like this I want to make a very informed and logical decision so I don't have to back track later if I realized it was a hasty decision.  I need a location online that other D&D players can find me and that location needs to be organized in a very clean, efficient manner.

I'm really considering seeing about getting a subdoman at tnlg.net.  Something like dnd.tnlg.net.  Or we can put something behind it, like www.tnlg.net/dnd  Actually the latter looks better.  Tomorrow when I go to the store for the Castle Ravenloft play test, I'll talk to Donnie to get his input.  I do want to be able to post things whenever I feel free to without going through him.  But of course I don't want access to the whole site.  Perhaps a simple installation of Wordpress in a sub directory will do.

    Hope The Group Succeeds

    Sunday, August 30, 2009, 11:22 PM

Just a little bit ago the person in charge of the Living Forgotten Realms in Nashville, Mike, gave me permission to post in his Yahoo group about the North Nashville D&D Community.   I'm really hoping that I get more members and the group does well.  I can only hope there's plenty of D&D players around here, like there are in the South and East end of town.

    WOTC Releases Free Playing Material

    Friday, August 28, 2009, 12:47 AM

I was happily surprised to see that Wizard's of the Coast decided to make some material free for people who are interested in Dungeons & Dragons.  They call it a "Test Drive" and it's a bit like the 14 day trials that online games have a lot of times.  What you get to download for free is 'Keep on the Shadowkeep' adventure, Quick Start Rules, 'Kyhber's Harvest' adventure, and a limited Character Builder.

With all this free material, people who are curious about D&D can really get a decent idea of a normal game.  This is a great idea and to me 'Keep on the Shadowfell' will become a classic, so it's a great place to start.

Hopefully this Test Drive will really draw a few people in, even 3.5 players who are just curious to see what 4th edition is like.

I'm Loving the New Community Website

    Thursday, August 27, 2009, 5:39 PM

Two days ago I logged on to check what's happening on the forums and they weren't there.  So today I searched a bit more around on the WOTC website and found the new community website.  So far, this site looks amazing!  I just jumped right in.  I logged in, posted my photo on my profile and filled out my info.  Then I created a D&D group for Nashville since there currently isn't one and I plan on inviting tons of people I know to it to start getting it organized.  This website looks like it's going to be THE way to socialize with other D&D players online.  I'm so glad WOTC took the time to build this and I look forward to see how this progresses.

    Cheers,

    Will
