People of Emira---------------------------------------------------------------------------| World of Emira | Lands | Groups/People | Group 1 | Group 2 | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Orcus, The Prince of UndeathOrcus is a mighty Demonlord who was imprisoned on the Spire Islands of Fate and Fortune thousands of years ago. He was recently released when Amadi Prailer pulled the Sword of Garth's Bane from it's altar. Orcus's story is told on the walls of the puzzles on the Spire Islands of Fate and Fortune: There was once a warrior who fought hard in a great battle during the first age and a man who was devious and shifty. When returning from this war, the warrior was badly injuried. The man found him on the side of the road and tried to tend to his wounds. The warrior told the man of his exploits at the war but eventually succumbed to his injuries. The man seeing great profit in this took on the name of the warrior and continued back to the warrior’s home land. Upon returning and claiming to be the warrior, he was made a lord of the land and given land to rule over. During his rule he was able to amass great wealth and power, to the point that he was able to overthrow the lands around him. As his kingdom grew more powerful so did his personal capabilities. Learning great magic from anyone who would take his money and there were always plenty to do that. Death became something he feared, so he looked for ways to control and cheat death. He grew in power so greatly that eventually his power matched any deity in the world. Because of his great power he was able to assend and become a diety but he chose to reside on Emira. But as his power grew so did his size. He became a great large man from living his luxurious life. He was known to be a cruel but just ruler but as he got older he became more and more cruel while also became more careless. Eventually he was betrayed and murdered by his trusted advisor Kiara Salee. His body was buried in a field. Some time later the trees and grass of this field began to die. Through the endevears of his followers and one of his most trusted servants Acererak, his body began to stir and clawed it’s way out of the grave. But what came out of this grave was not a fat man but a thin shadowy creature. As this creature he sort out what would become the Wand of Orcus. He raised his army of followers that had been slain by Kaira Salee and laid waste to his old Kingdom. He took from Kaira Salee the power that she used to slay him as a deity and tortured her to death only to bring her back and start over again. Orcus has been killed dozens of times but has always come back in a form slightly different from the last. Over time he has lost the features that defined him as Human and taken on the look of something more fitting to his undying soul. After thousands of years the civilised nations of Emira decided that the only way to deal with Orcus was not to kill him but to lock him away. The most powerful mages of Emira banded together to create a prison for Orcus that would hold him indefinitely. They created the Spire Islands of Fate and Fortune. But the creation of this prison caused the ground to shake and shatter. The Kingdom where the Spire Islands were created shattered into dozens of pieces. Some sank to the bottom of the sea while others seemed to float away unnaturally. What was left of this Kingdom became the Minos Isle. As the prison was created so was a sword of great size. It was the sword of Gareth’s Bane, a great sword covered in the bones of the one’s who had managed to slay Orcus over the years. If plunged into the heart of Orcus it would force Orcus to be reborn again in the prison. But the cost for the wielder of the sword was great. They would become part of the sword. Their bones joining the others who had managed to slay Orcus. Once used the sword would teleport itself to the Prison where it would sit in an altar. As long as this sword stayed here then Orcus would be imprisoned. Gareth Dragonsbane wielded this sword against Orcus and managed to defeat and imprison him in the Spire Islands. While this imprisoned Orcus, it did not stop him from being able to communicate with his closest followers. As a last act of defiance he caused the dead from these kingdoms to rise and slaughter all. This was the end of the 3rd age. Out of all the kingdoms of the world only 3 barely survived this onslaught. Over the years some of the followers of Orcus have managed to find the location of the Spire Islands and through the orders of Orcus have perverted the reason for the Spire Islands. Drawing interest to the Spire Islands and making it enticing to all comers, for anyone who is a follower of Orcus cannot touch the sword. |
