Baltimore - Torpedo Defense
Q. Does the USS Baltimore actually have Torpedo Defense?
A. (Tricky one) According to Rich Baker's post (cited below), probably not. You'll have to make this a part of your house rules until there's a clear decision. This also relates back to the Scharnhorst's lack of Torpedo Defense.

Coastlines
Q. Do coastlines act as "Island" or "Open" in terms of movement, line of sight, etc?
A. If the land covers the center dot of the sector, then that sector is impassable to everything, including airplanes and vessels with Shallow Draft. It is out of play. If the land doesn't cover the central dot, then treat the entire sector as open sea. Standard LOS rules apply to land outlines.

Scout Cruiser
Q: The IJN Tone has a SA of Scout Cruiser: The card says Bombs or Gunnery attacks. OR implies the attacking units must use one type of attack or the other, not both. If you can do both it should read AND right? Does this SA apply only to aircraft or ships as well? It takes effect at the Air Mission Phase so does that mean aircraft only? Please clarify this vague rule. And this is once per turn right?
A. The bonus applies to all bomb and gunnery attacks against the chosen target during the whole turn.

Strafing - Changing Targets
Q. Do strafing aircraft stay committed to their target during the Air Attack Phase?
A. No. It can switch targets or use some other attack if you rethink the situation. That goes for any plane that was assigned to strafing. Basically, when you say "this plane is strafing," you're just keeping its options open at the expense of some penalties. Once it's declared to be strafing in the Air Mission phase, the penalties (lowered armor, no Escort) apply no matter what.

Survivor
Q. Does the Enterprise's survivor roll only comes into effect when its vital armor is reached or exceeded with bombs?
A. Yes - bombs or gunnery.
(NOTE: Phrasing of Survivor is wrong. It uses the word "hits" where it should state "successes." A common enough mistake, but the words have distinct meanings in the game, and hits is incorrect in this usage. In fact, it's impossible for any ship to receive "hits equal to or greater than its vital armor." A ship attacked by bombs or gunnery either suffers no damage, is hit and takes a point of damage, or is destroyed. Hits themselves are not counted -- only successes are.)

Vital Cargo - Island in Neutral Row
Q. Can any island, or any sector of any two-part island in the "neutral row' be used by the Vital Cargo SA?
A. No. To satisfy the conditions of Vital Cargo, the ship and the island must be "on your opponent's side of the map." That excludes the neutral row of sectors across the middle -- i.e., you need to get your ship into your opponent's Submarine Deployment Area. If one portion of a two-sector island is in the "neutral zone" but another is in your opponent's side, then you can invoke Vital Cargo when you reach the sector in your opponent's side.
