I love the colossal dragon carcass. While the art might not be as fancy as some of the others, on closer examination you can see the potential behind the design. If I was running it, the players wouldn't know what they were getting themselves into. Eventually they'll realize where they are and the moment of that realization would be pretty amazing.

I have already plundered these great, great dungeons for my own home game. Great material (did I say "great" yet?)! Congratulations to all of the dungeon designers. It is clear why each of your dungeons were picked! Props to the creators of Maiden of the Blighted Steps, Dungeon of the Sleeping Dragon and the Colossal Dragon Carcass! Ultimately Maiden has my vote, but I GUARANTEE players in my game will eventually be encountering a dungeon with bungee jumping Kobolds, and a sleeping dragon...

I am really chomping at the bit to see these winning dungeons and their concepts.

My pick, as well. Not the easiest rooms and corridors in the world to describe to players, but such an incredibly enjoyable experience. I really enjoyed this adventure, as well as the fact that there were numerous paths to reach the central chamber. These elements, combined with the deadly inhabitants and sheer variety of dungeon challenges (a raging river, an illusionary harem, and magical puzzles and riddles just to name a few), make this adventure a true classic.

I don't see why one class can't have both paths.
A character who chooses to focus on heavy armor and heavy weapons wouldn't have as strong of magic.
A character who chooses to strengthen their magic would give up the benefits of heavy armor and would be left to fight with staves.
But either way you would be utilizing the same basic pool of abilities.

Just because you're proficient with heavy armor doesn't necessarily mean you have to wear it. I've played plenty of Clerics in both 3e & 4e that wore cloth (or no) armor and wielded a quarterstaff instead of a mace. It's all about the choices you make, not the choices you have. You can have a thousand options, but you can only choose one at a time; and that's the way it SHOULD be.

11, if your going to change something, change it all the way around and not just alter it a tad. So my thought is go all out.

I agree with making it look less 'game-like' and more sophisticated. Number 7 would be my favorite, but to be honest, none of them really do it for me. In fact, neither do the previously published ones. The various logos for the Forgotten Realms have been much better in my opinion.
I guess the original (Advanced) Dungeons and Dragons (brown/white boxes through the 1st ed) worked because it definitely looked like a game for adults, not kids. In many cases (again, the current Forgotten Realms...

As far as I'm concerned, there are two kinds of Save or Die mechanics.
The easy ones are those wielded by the PCs. If the scope of your game doesn't revolve around small numbers of long, dragged-out encounters (for example, in politics-heavy intrigue games, or old-school-style megadungeons), save-or-die effects are a great way to deal with some kinds of foes *quickly*, while still depleting strategic resources. Hit point *percentage* thresholds (like the bloodied condition in 4e was) lose...

"The biggest drawback is that spellcasters and monsters have to be aware of a target's hit points to decide if an attack makes sense."
Not necessarily. Just make sure that if the target FAILS their save, but is ABOVE the hit point threshold, he or she suffers hit point damage.
      For example:
      Medusa's Gaze
      Successful save: Negates
Failed saved: If target has 30 or fewer hit points, target is turned to stone. Otherwise, target loses 20 hit points.
      I don't want to see...
