I've loved D&D since I discovered it back in 1982. I stopped playing for 20 years and missed the camaraderie of the gaming table. So I came back last year and have taught 3.x and 4.x to my daughter. Currently playing in a 5e campaign (it's ok) and DMing an awesome 4e campaign that everybody loves.

some updated info

I was building a system in Filemaker Go but didn't have the guts to show it to Bill S. at GenCon 2010. I stopped using FMP/FMG for characters because typing up all the powers is a pain in the arse and I couldn't see an easy way to tie that it, since there are 300 zillion class combinations. I'm now using i4e and would love to trade FMP/FMG files with other users in the community.

the year of D&D

My ipad has become a constant companion to my D&D playing. I'm now DMing an every-other-Sunday game with my daughter and some new friends, and playing in an every-other Monday D&D 4th edition + early 20th century tech (guns and airships) game in addition to our weekly Thursday 4th edition game (high fantasy). I'm using Filemaker 2Go to keep track of character sheets, monsters, magic items, powers, feats, and psychic dreams, as well as bringing along WotC books in PDF format.

big changes

Our DM has announced that he's moving to Arizona in June, and our brute is heading out to Seattle after he graduates in May. That's going to leave 3 of us, and I'm not sure if we'll be able to continue playing D&D without adding another player or two. I'm considering DMing but with only 3 people, that's kind of a small group for standard adventures / campaigns. I wish I could meet more folks here in South Bend who liked to game.

2010 gaming plans

I'm kind of excited about the new world coming out this year, but as I'm broker this year than last (thanks paycut), I did not attend DDXP and am still on the fence re: GenCon even though last year was my first and I had a blast. It's really expensive and with a new splatbook for $30 coming out every month, I just can't afford all the stuff that Wizards wants to publish. I was surprised to see them come out with a paperback on Dragonfolk but I guess they should probably expand our knowledge about races rather than give us another dozen new races each year.

I'm leaving D&DI

My subscription ends in January and I'm not planning on renewing. Although I like many of the things that WotC have done with 4e, I just don't earn enough to drop $40 every month on a new splatbook, plus pay for the online service which had promised a gaming table but instead delivered a monster builder.

awesome

I'm thrilled about having a D&D Blog. I intend to blog the adventures of Nariah, a female Eladrin melee ranger and Renderfoe, a male warforged fighter, as well as various other characters I play.
