[[Encounters this scene: Mariz returns via the Token, Requiem for a Fairy and the Cursed Dagger Returns, Demon Deals Part II, To Ride a Purple Worm]]

Re-Delbrook is the first to notice that something is not right with Mariz's body, which ends up with Mika placing the Token of Hope around Mariz's dead neck. In a display of energy and power, it brings him back to life and imbeds itself into his right hand. Removing it causes him to die. The Chained Demon Lord reappears and rends apart the Fairy who was conspiring for his demise, taking the talking dagger who Hadril negotiates back to his own possession. In further discussions, the Demon Lord shows the party how to use the Whitewing harnesses to make a single large harness that would work on a huge burrowing Purple Worm which could be untilized to make a fast exit from the underdark to pursue Mariz's sister and the other young enslaved girls. During a great struggle, they attract, then battle and eventually subdue the Purple Worm and prepare it for their journey.

We have Mariz back. Well, at least temporarily. I have no idea how it works or how long it will work, nor do I know what the cost is going to be to his long-term health. His amulet brought him back from his death in the machine. It imprinted on his palm and if he removes it, he quickly succombs to his injuries from the machine again. At least he is stable. I hope to talk with him about his mental well-being at some point, but if he becomes too talkitive, we may have another issue, like Zombie Delbrook, to deal with.

The Demonlord came for the dragon's keep, just like he said he would. He offered us an easy way out of the Underdark, and ultimately out of his way. I was concerned that he knew too much about our equipment, because he offered to fashion us a harness for a purple worm that we could ride to our next destination. Miri and Hadril allied my fears by reminding me that since he deals in information, maybe he has connections that would give him intel about us ever since we entered those many weeks ago. He left before we woke up. Eventhough he had his revenge on that pixie we had grown to tolerate, I think he was worried about being betrayed again by well rested adventurers.

We took our leave of the volcanic depths and found a perfect place to set the Thumper and try and subdue the purple worm. The confrontation was pretty tame, Miri and Mariz got swallowed, broke out, nobody fell off the cliff, and got everything we wanted. Well, some of us. Zombie Delbrook received information from the Demonlord that Ridley is still alive, and wants to use the worm to go after her. But, as we came all this way to help Mariz, we have his sister to free first before we go and rescue another damsel.

Ont the lighter side, I picked up a new sword from the hoard. It's not attached like my current blade, not as swift, but I think the armor crushing power it seemed to have against the worm will do well to end these confrontations more swiftly with less injuries taken by my companions. I will still keep my blade, maybe it will be useful as a base material should we come upon something Mika wants to tinker with for me.

Post-Script: That's what she said.

No, really. She said that. She would tinker with something for me. Delbrook, stop laughing. And stop looking over my shoulder. Yes, you. I am writing this down because I know you are reading this now.

Stop it right now. No means no. That's what she said.
