Submitted for your approval is Grim's tale: (I apologize for the roughness, I didn't get a chance to edit it.)

Grim Tales

Grimoir was born to a rogue of a mother and a barbarian father, both of Unseelie decent, during one of the bloodiest wars between Seelie and Unseelie in recorded history. He was raised by both to be a fighter and a survivor, never to quit, always to hold a grudge, but also how to bide your time before vengeance was wrought. For a Pixie is neigh immortal, where a hated enemy might have a finite lifespan (and therefore might grow weaker and feeble over the years).

That is not to say that Grim was a child of inaction, far from it! The war between light and dark fey is never truly over, it simply shifts into periods of less open and obvious warfare. Both sides are deceptive and cunning, a traditional battlefield one decade may make way for “peace-time games” the next, where light and dark fey compete with each other during the day, and connive and conspire against one another at night. Grim hated any warfare that was not open and direct. It was this attitude that got him top ranking within the Unseelie Vanguards, an elite group of dark fey warriors who devastated opponents on the battlefield time and again.

The Vanguard was sent to the forefront of every major campaign in the Fey Wild, and were even hired out as soldiers in non fey conflicts. They ate, they drank, they fought. In lands so foreign and against opponents many times their size, the Vanguard adapted, improvised, and overcame. They would also tattoo their faces and bodies to shock and frighten their enemies, Grim chose a white skull superimposed over his harsh and handsome face. He wanted his opponents to see death before he delivered it to him. They also created body tattoos for each conflict or war they took part in. Grim enjoyed military life, it suited him, gave him purpose, and allowed him to sate his blood lust when able.

Then the day came when Grim discovered that most of the Unseelie Vanguard he knew and called his brothers in arms had either died off or retired. The dark fey council disbanded the Vanguard for more favorable (to them) espionage and sabotage warfare, the fey war had shifted yet again, and there was little to no place in it for a bunch of blood thirsty pixies who charged first and asked questions never.

Grim, for the first time in his life was a untethered soul adrift in the multiverse, and he hated it. Most beings knew little to none about the Unseelie Vanguard and laughed or scorned a foot tall warrior who claimed to be the best of the best. It was not until Synn, a female Tiefling mercenary and rogue, presented Grim with a position in her mercenary company that Grim finally felt at home again.

It did not take long for Grim to prove himself and quickly rise in rank within the company. It also did not take long for Synn to recognize Grim's determination and ambition, which she found she could take advantage of, unbeknownst to Grim, by seducing and entrapping Grim with emotional games aplenty. Grim never had time for lasting relationships in his past, and he fell for Synn hard. It was so easy for Synn to manipulate the Unseelie to eliminate other suitors and rivals to her power base.

Grim never knew what to think or feel around Synn. And when he began to suspect she might be using him, the Tiefling set him up to die in a warehouse in Sigil. She sent him in alone to scout out a rival mercenary company, and then proceeded to tip off the mercs to his presence. Grim fought viciously, however succumbed to dire wounds in the end.

As he lay unconscious and dying, fate intervened in the form of Sir Vantes and Marius the Hengeyokai. The two were investigating reports of suspicious activity in the warehouse and came upon a grisly scene. Many beings lay dead, and crates were smashed, shedding debris over the floor. It was Marius's keen fox senses that led him to Grim's near-dead form under much kindling and covered in blood and gore. Marius was able to stabilize Grim and he and Sir Vantes took the Unseelie back to the temple of the Red Knight to discern what had happened.

Grim was solemn and desolate within himself. He was a warrior born and orphaned to two mercenary companies now. He confessed to being a mercenary, however never gave any information on Synn's company. She was an enemy now, and Grim was learning he can bide his time for revenge when the opportunity presented itself.

Marius proved to be a good friend, and paired with Sir Vantes Grim began to see another side of camaraderie he had not experienced since his days in the Vanguard. Beings in Sigil still gave Grim odd looks and scoffed at his stature, however no more so than they did Marius as a fox. Grim even felt a sense of gratitude towards the fox, and pledged to be his protector.

Now the two stalk the streets of Sigil seeking adventure and coin...and perhaps a bit of vengeance in Grim's case...
