Tenh, properly known as the Duchy of Tenh, is a political state located in the northern portion of the Flanaess. It lies in the plains and highlands between the Artonsamay and Yol Rivers, and abutts the Griff Mountains to the north and east.
Proper Name: Duchy of Tenh Ruler: Her Radiance, Duchess Drena Calbut Government: Feudal Monarchy owing fealty to Nyrond Capital: Nevond Nevnend Languages: Common, Flan, Nyrondese, Dwarvish Alignments: LG, LN, NG Overview:This country was snuffed out by barbarian hordes during the early days of the Greyhawk Wars. Duke Travis and most of his court escaped south into Nyrond, as did nearly two-thirds of the citizens of Tenh. This massive influx of refugees helped deepen the economic depression of Nyrond, and ensured that this exile would not end in Travis' lifetime. His death in 587 CY came well before the Drow Invasion weakened the barbarians, though the lines of succession were clear if the land could ever be reclaimed. For the first 20 years after the Greyhawk Wars, the lands north of the Phostwood were overrun with the barbarian hordes of Stonehold, who spent their days plundering into neighboring nations with reckless abandon. The Drow cost Redbeard dearly in leaders and fanatical troops, though the giant allies were immensely useful ![]() When Redbeard finally fell to one of the endless challenges to his rule in 602 CY, the icy grip upon the lands south of the Griff Mountains slackened. Coupled with Nyrond's slow economic and military growth, the barbarians began losing ground that they had held for a generation. But progress was painfully slow, with lands changing hands several times before the barbarians fell back yet another step. And so it was a long 22 years before the ruined city of Nevond Nevnend was finally retaken by civilized men, and other two years before Calbut was wrested from Stonehold. Duchess Drena, granddaughter of Travis, rightly holds the crown and rules from Nevond Nevnend. She readily acknowledges the debt owed to the adventurers, mercenaries, and men-at-arms who have sacrificed so much for her people. She also defers to King Archibold of Nyrond, despite his formal declaration of Tenh's independence this spring, for the priceless assistance his people and nation have provided to making Tenh free again.
