Blackweyr arrived a little “late” to the party, so I thought I would throw out this background for him…

Clad in black woodland leathers, and with his great gray dire wolf “Del” at his heels, Blackweyr cuts an unusual figure as he stalks the Moghmarrin highlands.

Blackweyr is a middle-aged Half-Elf, raised by his Elvish parentage in a tribe in the haunted Eldurin lands of Tarsembor in Selduria.  Always an adept hunter and tracker, and possessing a preternatural ability to tame and manage beasts, his talents were noticed by Druids of the Sestus Wyr (Note: That is the same Sestus Wyr previously encountered in the Bannerlands.  Like the roots of a great tree, the Sestus Wyr have always reached far beyond Bael Nerath, and for centuries has had adherents through all the kingdoms and empires of the Vaer, including Nerath and Selduria: where the kingdoms of Man might wax and wane, Nature remains.)  He was soon taken in by the Sestus Wyr, schooled in their arts while practicing and perfecting those Elvish/Eldurin talents he already had, and was sent back out into the world to carry the cult’s message, protect its interests, and enforce its will.

The cult is dedicated to the preservation of the Primal Order, including those creatures and beasts that some might consider “evil”.  For the Sestus Wyr, these beasts have a logical and natural place in the Primal Order, and Blackweyr is their protector.  Raised in an Elvish tribe and hardened by the precepts of the Sestus Wyr cult, Blackweyr is often considered a dour, uncompromising individual.   Much like the wolf at his side, he has a “pack mentality”, and the weak, lame, and old are considered a burden if they slow or harm “the pack”.  He has traveled into the darkest woods and the blackest groves; he has crossed Hag covens and tended Black Treants.  There is little in nature that he has not encountered, and less that he fears.

Conversely, he is uncomfortable in cities or settlements, and is wary of “technology”.  He wields little beyond his dual-bladed scimitar and javelins, and owns nothing that he cannot carry on his back.  Man-made treasures generally mean nothing to him, and material wealth passes through his fingers like water.  He and the Dire Wolf "Del" fight as a pair, and she responds quickly to his unspoken commands.  She is an extension of his eyes and ears, and she is another weapon that he wields. Part creature, but even more spirit, Del is the pure manifestation of Blackweyr’s primal powers.

The Primal Order involves the natural cycle of life and death.  Blackweyr hunts in the shadows of the latter.
