The topic for my blog this week is non-combat elements and games in D&D. With the previews of a book entirely on combat optimization starting on the website and no twin book on role-playing in sight it strikes me as almost topical. So I'll start with the dire-elephant in the room and jump right in with role-playing and 4e. This is a very emotionally charged issue so I'm going to start this inflammatory topic with a loaded question: Can you role-play in 4e? The answer is: Yes, of course you can. What kind of stupid person asks a silly question like that?! The catch is that you can role-play with almost any game.
