Hello!

Is WotC planning to do WER as app to android or IPhone, couse lots of TO are using these kind of phones(at least my region).
Or maybe there already is that app? This app shouldn't be difficult to create, aga it's comf to use.

Hey Aty,

Currently there isn't a WER mobile application. However, a tablet or mobile version would greatly increase the TO experience. This is something I would love to explore. What are some features that it could have? Most of the features currently in DCIR and WER could potentially be moved to a mobile application.

Thanks!

Sounds like a classic example for a web app - no need to go native.

It is a great example for a webapp, but not all tablets/pads/iPads have 3G/4G connections, and you're not necessarily in a location where you can connect to WiFi.

And native gives you in many cases a significant speed boost in processing, not having to wait for net traffic.

I am currently studiyng for my bachelor in computer engineering and Android development is one of my subjects, I was planning on making a tool that would allow me to run my events with most of the WER functionality and then exporting the event to my computer and reporting it via WER.

That said, I would love it if we could get a native, or webapp, solution for doing it directly on my tablet/pad.

Same here. I am using mainly my android phone and pair it with my pc via teamviewer to access WER functionality just because it is most of the times easier to bring along just mobile (+ charger) then laptop + accessories, and as some already mentioned, what if TO gets in some area without wifi and 3G / 4G conectivity, then all drops and we have to do all manually. I have already tried, and I am still working on porting WER to Windows Mobile 6.1 device or android, but some help would be greately appreciated.

We already have Magic Toolbox available on Android Market which is in its early alpha state, but with nice progress, and same quite usable on iOS devices. Now this would be really nice next step.
Thank You

Any news on if this is going ahead?  Sounds like a great idea, but could there be an "offline" mode maybe?   That would get around the lack of WIFI?  Where you can still create pairings / add new players but just report in retrospect?  The curret WER lets you report post event as long as you declare it.

Most stores i know of now have WI-FI access even if just for their staff, and most are quite willing to hand over their passwords to TO's who are using it for this purpose but i appreciate there will be places that dont/wont.  But it would be a shame to not even trial an app based on this?

No news yet. However keep up the conversation because it's a huge benefit to get the real life use requirements.

I also agree. Most of the places we organize tournaments at do not have a good connection. Additionally most tournaments are smaller in size so a mobile app would suffice and greatly improve the experience.

That app could also include all up to date documents and rulings which are relevant. Therefore th TO would have everything at their fingertips, without worrying about connectivity and bring all the technical gear with him.

I like the idea of including up to date rulings, maybe a link to gatherer too would let you check individual rulings?

Pit would also be great for iPad becauseyou can use an AV cable to hook up promotional videos or if your store doesn't have a screen , you can use the iPad (such as the video we used for the avacyn restored campaign)

Put simply the only limit to a WER app is the users imagination, but no one will think of how to make improvements if the product isn't there to start with?
