Have any of you organized an Archenemy tournamet? I have been thinking about such but hit my head against a wall when I try to think of how to make it work. Playing off different groups against one Archenemy? Mixing and matching with players preparing decks for both roles? Card base, banned/restricted?
If any of you have tried it or have any suggestions please share with me.
Thanks in advance.

Gary,
This is a very interesting idea. I have not considering doing one myself, but I would assume that you are planning on all players being Archenemies concurrently? If so, I would group them in pods of 4 and have the top 2 move on to the winners pod and the bottom 2 move to the losers pod. I would continue this until we had a clear victor. You could finish the tournament with a sudden death one on one between the last 2 undefeated or you could keep a record of 1st & 2nd finishes throughout the tournament and award points based on position.
That's a rough sketch of an idea of how to do one, I hope that helps.

This has been my game stopping wall. Everyone getting a crack at being an Archenemy. I had not thought of a pod idea but I like it if I have enough players. Each player could come with an archenemy deck and an anti-archenemy deck. By randomly selecting Archenemies for the first round and randomizing the attackers I could break up pre-planned groups. The pods would help reduce no-play time. Choosting the next attacker to be an Archenemy can be done by random selection I think. I'm still haveing trouble seeing how to compete for a final winner though.
I think you have put a hole my biggest wall though.
Any suggestions on card restrictions, either schems or regular cards in this environment?
Thoughts on time limits?
Thanks MUCH. I think I will announce it and hope to work out the other details before the event---LOL.

We've run a couple of successful Archenemy tournaments, and in fact use the same scoring system for all of our multiplayer tournaments (the guys love multiplayer).
For Archenemy, we selected pods of 4-5 each (I let the WER do the seating so there's no complaining), with each person in each pod acting as Archenemy once. This meant 4-5 rounds, but the games go fast.
For each round, players scored game points. For each 'kill', the attacking player scores 1 point. At the end of the game, each surviving player also scores 1 point. Finally, for the cooperative players, each surviving player scores 1 point for every surviving ally.
So, in a pod of 4, if the Archenemy sweeps the board against his 3 opponents, he scores 3 kills and 1 survivor point, for a total of 4 points. If the Archenemy takes out 2 opponents and is killed by the 3rd, the Archenemy scores 2 kills, and the survivor scores 1 kill and 1 survivor point. If the Archenemy is swept, the surviving players each score 1 survivor point and 2 ally points, with the player who takes out the Archenemy scoring 1 kill point - with a score of 3 for survivors, and 4 for the 'killer'.
We add up the totals a the end of pod play, and if there is player with more points than any other, he wins. Otherwise, we take the top 2 players from each pool and let them duke it out in a championship pool (losers can play in the toilet pool if they want to still play, but can't win the tournament).
This has worked for us in Emperor and Grand Melee, too. Surprisingly, the Emperor doesn't always win.
Hope that helps!
