I am particularly intrigued by the last sentence of the announcement: "These two exciting titles are only the beginning, and we’ll be announcing additional Star Wars card, roleplaying, and miniatures games in the coming months!"

Anyone want to speculate on what an FFG Star Wars RPG might look like? I've never played anything put out by FFG, so I have no idea what their games are like.

Also intrigued!!!

@jedi comedian
congratulations.  That's a style of writing far removed from me.

And please... cliche's are the foundation of good writing.

Much like how "logic is the begining of wisdom, not the end."

Actually I much prefer The Losers.Spoiler: Show

When I and my friends sit down we want a game of heroic fantasy.  Rare is the moment when I have cried out in a video game or RPG "that's unrealistic." (Unless there is no jump button.  Seriously makes me mad, single handedly ruined the N64 zelda series for me, but that's a digression of a digression.)

I mean, we play games with the force in galaxies far, far away, with supernatural horrors, dragons and demi-gods, alternate cosmologies, etc.

Reality and it's effects hold little sway to what makes a Heroic fantasy game fun IMO.

Just repeat after me:

You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake.
You are not how much you've spent on WotC products.
You are not whatever RPG you play.
You are one of tens of thousands of people that spend money on a hobby.
You will not always get what you want

Their Battlestar Galactica boardgame, and its expansions, are absolutely bad-ass. And I see that the creator of the BSG game is the co-creator of that SW card game, so yeah, I'm at least gonna be checkin' that out! Cool

As for their RPGs, I have no idea...

The new announcement pretty gets a from me. At my age and with everything going on in my life, investing the time and money to learn a new (and superfluous) game system is not high on my list of priorities. I wish them well, but I can't say I'm likely to be a customer.

Since i have no clue whats happened to our VCL I'll poke a few folks here at WotC about the status of the fours and see if i can get some sort of timeline for the possiablity of them coming down.

A note about character and world creation

Character and world creation are a form of expression. The point is that some people don't have much to say...

Wow, Fantasy Flight. I thought they made RPG games and then never supported them again, like Battlestar Galactica and Serenity.

I'll wait and see.

Edit: Whoops, wrong company. They make the Warhammer Fantasy Game. CyberDave has been playing that a lot lately and he says it's pretty good and very gritty. The only problem with it is that it costs 100 dollars!

I'm pretty sure market drives suppliments. And for Serenity, I know it had a number: 'Out in the Black', 'Big Damn Heroes', 'Serenity Adventures' and 'Six-Shooters and Spaceships'. Being as how I wrote the aft portion of that last one and all...

I'm not seeing a better pace for DC Adventures, from Green Ronin, but, like every other game, I just press on.

Hey, that's pretty cool Lynn. I didn't know you were published. I just thought you were a really, really, dedicated fan of starship stuff. Heh, you learn all kinds of stuff about people.

Anyway, I'll be sure to do my homework next time in terms of checking products and stuff.

My only 'real' publication to date. And it's because I was just a really, really, dedicated fan of starship stuff. LOL  There are a bazillion folks who've done Star Wars ship stuff. I happened to be one of the relative few who did Firefly/Serenity stuff too.

EDIT: Also, I do feel your pain in waiting for stuff from the smaller companies. I've had DC Adventures for a year with no support. Running my campaign has been... interesting.

I had hoped that DC adventures would move a bit faster, but that's not the companies track record.

From what I can tell the biggest rpgs sales come from DnD, Pathfinder and Dark Heresy. Given that Fantasy Flight do Dark Heresy, I would imagine that Star Wars will be a solid product with regular releases of books. But it's going to cost your arms and legs and maybe your friends will need to help out.
