Okay, this is my first dndnext post about what I hope to see/not see.
No daily powers. Regardless of how they would be done, I don't want to see powers that can only be used once in a day.
The first problem is when choosing new powers, my players don't seem to care too much about their daily. Since they know they'll only see it maybe once in a game day, they don't seem to have much invested in the choice so they are apathetic about it.
The other problem is that I have two different kinds of players when it comes to using daily powers and neither seems to work out too great.
I have the player who burns their daily power so early in the day that they feel useless later when a major threat shows up.
The other player is the kind who is so conservative with daily powers that she's perpetually terrified that there's a boss monster in the next room. As a result, she never uses her daily powers and then regrets it when she realizes there aren't going to be any more encounters that day; she feels like she didn't tow her line in the party. All my players always seem to look back on when they used (or didn't use) their daily power and regret their timing. We don't have this problem with encounter powers. The first guy can blast those off early in the battle, but still be viable at the end, and the other player can use an encounter but feel comfortable knowing that she has more stored up in case new monsters show up.
That is my two cents for today - No single-day use powers
