BOB LIVES. I've been thinking about the movie and tv series' MONSTERS VS. ALIENS.' This show features B.O.B. who's a throwback to the classic sci-fi horror flick 'THE BLOB'. B.O.B. sort of looks like Blue Eye Goo of early ninetendo games. So, if we were to create bob would he be an ooze made with the AWAKEN spell? There was one episode in the Tv series where bob was splitting in half. Would it be amusing to have bob reproduce by fissioning? How many bob's are too much of a good thing? He eats 2-3 hams aday in the government facility "fifty-something". Just a few random thoughts.

Now, over the years i've based adventures off the idea of population explosions or migrations. I'm also a fan of movies based off the idea of giant animals. So, how about some thoughts on " Attack of the Giant Caterpillars" ? phase one

A volcano that erupts once per century begins to erupt and launch caterpiller eggs all over the empire. phase two

The eggs hatch into 1 inch long caterpillars. these caterpillars have a head spike and a coat of poisonous hair like the poisonous hair on some tarantulas. These caterpillars eat 100 times their own weight and double in size dailly. phase three

Eventually these these grow to be small size or 40LBS. The head spike is the equal of a dagger. the party is called in by one of the factions, Farmers or Nobles. A 40 lb caterpillar eats 4000 LBS or 2 tons of food a day , This will devastate farms in their path. phase four

The caterpillars reach 6 feet in length and 200 pounds in weight. They eat 20000 pounds or 10 tons of food a day. the caterpillars begin the " March of the Caterpillars". Their poisonous hair and head spikes that now do damage like a short sword make them a dangerous herd. phase five

The caterpillars form coccoons of a magical , expensive silk. Which is what the Nobles want to harvest. phase six

The coccoons hatch into medium sized yet deadly moths, something like a Gloomwing. the gloomwings mate and drop their eggs into the volcano. Now for some notes on the factions. farmers

Hate the caterpillars for eating up tons of crops. don't care if the " Frass" is good fertilizer for next years crops nobles

the nobles make fortunes off gathering the coccoons for their magical silk. clerics

The clerics consider the march of the caterpillar a holy event of life-death -renewal. druids

The druids consider this part of mother nature way. So, how do the pcs get hooked in ? Kill the caterpillars to save the farms? Gather coccons for money,coccoons no good once the larva disolve them? For the preisthood Kill poachers who commit sacrilege by killing caterpillars or take a coccoons? Just a few thoughts on a mini-campaign.

The Fungle. Now in a D+D world you can have a wide variety of fantasy enviroments. One of my favorites is the Fungle. An underground jungle made up of mushrooms. bats

All good fungles require a roof covered with bats. These bats leave the cavern or cave and return to deposit tons of guano. Guano is the fertilizer that makes all fungles posible. megalopedes

Tiny centipedes to megalpedes thrive in the Fungle. rats

The basis of the food chain and what keeps the predators fed when there's no adventurers around. mushrooms

Shriekers , Violet Fungi, Myconids from the monster manual. Explodostools from a type of landmine. Some mushroom trees have a phospheresent glow, green ,blue or violet. There's also the posibility of halucigenic or poison mushrooms as well. spiders

Since drow love the Fungle they spread and breed all sorts of spiders. scorpians

All sorts of scorpians thive in the Fungle,including ones like the Velvet Scorpians whose stinger injects a hallucigen rather than a normal poison. tauric kobolds

Using the tauric template you can create Kobold/ medium scorpians that I like to call Tlincalli Kobolds,if each has 2 monster hd and is also a first level sorceror it makes them a good challenge for low level parties. the claws and and stinger plus weapon makes them excellent hand to hand fighters. In size a 1 mile long X 1/2 mile wide X 200 foot high cavern makes a good Fungle.

If you were the Creator-God of a race , what would your race look like? Two-headed

Savage Species has a Multi-Headed template that allows you to create a two-headed race. It would have +2 HD,+2AC, and a +1CR. Each head controls an arm granting two weapon fighting for free. Heads take turns sleeping,continuous activity. Cannot be surprised. This makes for a capable creatue indeed. Amphibous

Able to function in air or water. Maybe lay masses of eggs in ponds? Most civilizations are littoral anyway,this would heighten the use of waterways. No sunken ships? abilities

What sort of ability would you boost? Suppose you could give an 18 to any one score? Wisdom would cause them to worship you more and be more aware of their surroundings. Charisma would make them more interesting to watch and more interested in politics and relationships. Intelligence would make them skillful and more likely to crete new items or spells. Physical abilities would be of some use in relating to the physical world. Age and reproduction

Most intelligent species live somewhere between 25 and 700 years. The longer a species lives the fewer of it's children survive to breed in the case of things like oaks. Some long-lived races reproduce on rare occasions. A short lived race must breed often. A god who wants to cherish favorites would create a long-lived race. A god who wanted variety would go for a short-lived race. Shorter-lived races adjust to changing conditions better. In order for a short-lived race to have a complex culture some things like langauge and job skills are probably inborn, like a kobold being born with Draconic, Trapmaking and Mining. So , what sort of race would you create if you were a god-like being?

Now , I've been having thoughts on mini's. When I go to the Dollar store I occasionally buy cheap plastic animals and such. What would happen if we produced a loss-leader. 1$ bags of orcs ,elves,skeltons, men at arms with a stat card or some ads for D+D. Because little kids go straight to the toy section they would ask their parents to buy some of the products depicted? This would also encourage people to use more mini's,get them hooked on the orcs,then show them something cool like a yuan-ti or medusa?
