First, a moment of silence for 9/11.
Now, on to the D&D session that we had today. ~45 mintes before the session, one of my players mentioned that it was 9/11; was it really appropriate to be having D&D on this day, she asked? This had totally slipped my mind. But instead of simply cancelling D&D, I decided that this D&D session would be a tribute to 9/11. So I hastily composed a short adventure called 4/11 (in my campaign it's the fourth month, Mosdanith). Basically, Tallasht received word that four spelljamers heading towards Cerulphyr (the Capitol), a garrison of Sapphire Knights (the Pentagon), as well as Moonvale and Sapphire Towers (the Twin Towers).
Using a new power from the Sphere of Secrets they discovered a few sessions ago, Unnamed teleported onto the Cerulphyr spelljamer, Edward to the Moonvale Tower one, and yet another test character of Kamos/Titan's player, Wayland the elf hybrid fighter-monk teleported to the garrison Spelljamer. The boss (a Dragonborn Fire Adept, or whatever it's called) was in Wayland's ship, but he actually had more trouble with the two Portal Drakes. He was teleported outside twice, and sheer luck and good powers saved him. His spelljamer landed safely with 12/20 of its passengers still alive. He also saved hundreds of lives in the garrison.
Unnamed nearly died and was stabilized by the minotaur passengers of the Cerulphyr spelljamer as she fought a Rotclaw and a Scytheclaw Drake. The minotaur would have actually taken over the spelljamer themselves, just like Flight 93 on 9/11. She eventually, however, defeated the draconic creatures and landed the spelljamer in front of Lord Regdar's mansion, with 3 minotaur out of 10 still alive. She also saved Lord Regdar and all the people in Cerulphyr, pretty much.
Edward was not so fortunate. He was thrashed by a Mithral Dragon Wyrmling (don't ask me how Tiamat's Red Hand got it to work for them; remember i had like 30 minutes to throw this together) and two Kobold Scouts, but eventually triumphed. Unfortunately, the vicious Wyrmling made sure that none of his 10 passengers survived, but he did manage to land the spelljamer in front of Moonvale Tower, saving hundreds of minotaurs inside.
Unnamed quickly rushed to Tallasht's cave above Cerulphyr and enlisted her help in teleporting all three of them to the fourth spelljamer, heading towards Sapphire Tower. They overpowered two Dragonborn Gladiators and a Frostforged Wyrm and landed in front of the Tower with 5/10 of the passengers remaining.
So at least 4/11 was not too horrible a tragedy thanks to the valiant heroes, who astoundingly, after everything was calculated, gained over 3000 xp each!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!! Oh well.
So that's that. No, this adventure was not a mockery of 9/11, it was a tribute to it.
