One of the big comments about Scales of War is that the adventure is a rail road for players.  With the fact that all the adventures have been published, it doesn't have to be this way.  When the PC enter the Epic Tier and Bahamut is slain, this action is a campaign changer.  I would love comments on my ideas, as I get ready to unleash them on my players. Hopefully the following plan will make an exciting and mind blowing Epic Tier Sand Box Campaign. The Premise: With Bahamut slain, there are consequences.  Tiamat has upset the cosmic balance and now is a world of...

It's been a couple of years since I finished Red Hand of Doom and now I'm looking for a way to continue in Elsir Vale. How well does this series move on from the Red Hand of Doom?  Is there any cross-over in back story?  Or does it just take place in the same vale?  When I read thru the Rescue at Rivenroar I had trouble finding Rivenroar on the map of Elsir Vale, and so started to worry : did they just drop the adventure into the Vale without any real cut-over? See, I'ld like to start my characters as the children or apprentices of the original group that played thru...

I have been playing D&D for yrs but have never been a DM. So I’m stepping up to the table and going to run the Scales of War campaign.  All the players have played for years and the party size will be 5 players. One of the players wants to play a Minotaur Cleric. To anyone who has run this campaign, do you think this will be a problem?

I am running the Scales of War adventure path and we are not in the second module.  It has been a very successful run sofar with the players enjoying it and easy for the me as the DM to run.  The one thing that I find lacking in the modules is that the treasure parcel magic items are left blank in all the modules.  They have suggestion with magic item levels, but nothing beyond that.   Has anyone found or created a list of suggested magic items to fill in the treasure parcels? A DM can always change them as needed, but it would be much easier than having...

So I've been running the Scales of War path for my group for the last year and a half as an experiment just to see how it pans out. My group all started out with ZERO roleplaying experience so it was a fun challenge to get them all into the idea of playing a character and figuring out their characters.  It's gone really well. They just hit 12th level and are starting the adventure "Haven of the Bitter Glass."  Currently they are on the airship on their way to the githzerai fortress to fight off the githyanki, but I had a really hard time with this spot right now because the fights...
I am starting a week from Sunday with a Minotaur Warden, an Eladrin Wizard, a Tiefling Rogue and a Shadar-kai Artificer. We're all pretty excited about it.
Just started Scales of War. The party consist of ~Dragonborn Sorcerer ~Minotaur Paladin ~Goliath Barbarian ~Human Artificer   We're running a four person game. Though I am not adjusting the lvl or the loot. From what I could find and read on the forums a lot of people were finding it too easy. So I figured I  would see how this went. They took out the Ogre Bombardier with little to no problem. The only encounter they had any trouble with was Kruthik Ambush. Almost killed 3 of the party members. But they pulled through and I was quite impressed. In our first session we managed to get all...

I started DMing the Scales of War Campaign on February 21st of this year.  My group is playing by posts on a respectable RPG site.  What follows is a brief recount of what has happened so far with my own personal thoughts and opinions spread throughout. Water Genasi Archer Warlord Fey Pact Human Warlock Human Guardian Druid Human Fighter Cosmic Dragonborn Sorceror Rageblood Goliath Barbarian This was the original cast of characters at game start.  In the course of the first few encounters, the barbarian left.  He never stated why and didn't answer pms but he was active elsewhere on the...

Okay, so I'm in a bit of a unique situation here. My fiance and I both like to play DnD, and while we have a regular game that game is in danger of not lasting. Due to our other member potentially moving out. So, we decided to try something. We each built 3 characters and decided to try and swap DM duty. We each keep our characters, and alternate running sessions. Which of course means that whoever is DM'ing is a little overloaded, but since it's kind of a thing that for now, we're just doing when we're wanting to play between other sessions or when those sessions get cancelled, the...
