Attending Characters: Ishara, Changeling Fighter; Goeban, Minotaur Fighter; Allain, Human Druid; Brocc, Gnome Bard; and Cerrakan, Human Assassin.
The PCs meet Uther Ironhelm, a prefect of Fallcrest. A man of odd humors, he offers to pay the adventuring party for putting an end to the bandit problem troubling merchants who venture near the King's Wall. If they cannot, he offers to eat their Gnome, making a sound similar to what a beast that craves baked goods might.
They venture forth, and find the ruins of an old keep, levelled by the Great Arrival. Camping nearby, an uneventful night passes. Before dawn, Goeban leaves camp to make sacrifice to Baphomet, evil god of Minotaurs. Unbeknownst to Goeban, he was followed from camp by Cerrakan. Knowing that the worship of an evil deity devoted to death of the innocent cannot be tolerated, he descended upon Goeban as night falls on the unexpecting traveller. Goeban was quickly felled, but Cerrakan was left wounded. He nedded to commune with the shadows to heal himself.
The remaining party find that this keep is not just a terrible wreck, but that it has become home to a small tribe of Bullywugs. It was perhaps the smell, or the ceaseless croaking that gave it away. The party found that the frogmen were not quite as difficult as they seemed, but caution was to be observed. The entered the lower level of the sanctum, but after one more fight, decided the time had come to rest. Perhaps Cerrakan would return, and they could begin their assault anew...
Elsewhere in the Vale:
Barthol, the Dwarven Cleric, had been searching for the Temple of Kord, rumored to be in the Chaos Scar, and cut off from civilization. Barthol also believed that he could recover a piece of his missing legacy here, if not more than just one. Two days of searching returned no sign of any temple, much less the errant legacy. Worse, he was now lost, and low on supplies. He finds a campfire in the night, atop a muddy ruin. Could this be the help he seeks? Or does Kord test his might against steep odds and a wicked foe?
