Hey All,
I've been thinking about trying to run a game for a while, especially as a friend of mine is keen to start playing more often, but due to work commitments, couldn't commit to regular games.
As I'm busy a lot during the week, and already have a regular game on Saturdays, the only time that would work for both of us is Sunday morning/afternoons. I'd be happy to try DMing - but I don't really have anywhere to host.
Is there anyone out there who would be interested in playing a game on sporadic Sundays, hopefully one in every 4-6 weeks? And even better, someone who might be willing to host? I'd be looking for another 3-4 players ideally, but could possibly go as high as 5.
D&D 4E, in case you're wondering. Willing to answer more questions if you have any.

I would definitely be interested in a sporadic game like that. Unfortunately I cant host due to the state of the house and its very limited size.
Might be nice to have a game where the PC's maybe have real lives but go on an adventure once in a while to protect the land and people.

I'm free to play and host on the Sunday's listed below until the end of July. I'll probably be around most of August as well, though that will depend on how wedding plans are developing

Depends what's the running time (afternoon, morning, evening?) and setting. But I'd be tempted as I like PCing.
My player type: Storyteller - You're more inclined toward the role playing side of the equation and less interested in numbers or experience points. You're quick to compromise if you can help move the story forward, and get bored when the game slows down for a long planning session. You want to play out a story that moves like it's orchestrated by a skilled novelist or film director 100% Storyteller 100%" Method Actor 100% Casual Gamer 67% Tactician 25% Power Gamer

As long as the sporadicness fitted in with my work rota I'd be happy to play and host even if David is not around.

Excellent. I did have something in mind, but I quite like Steve's suggestion of a game where the PCs can nip in and out, relatively naturally. I've had some inspiration as a result of his suggestion, so I'll put something up here about the theme later when I've done some planning.
As for start time, it depends on when people are willing to start. My friend Adam has to get back to London for work the next morning, so we can't go on too late, I'd suggest a start time of sometime between 10-1? But that can be flexible.
The 13th of May is no good for me, but I'd be happy to try and start on the 10th of June if that works for people.

I'll check if lizzi is keen. I could do 1-5:30/6ish. Possibly earlier.

So, here's the story - We start in the land of Akanul, with the sea of Fallen Stars to the north, Chessenta to the east, the Underchasm to the south-east, Chondalwood to the south-west & Turmish to the west.
Akanul didn't exist before the spell plague; During the year of Blue Fire, large parts of the landscape were swapped or merged with parts of Abeir. In many places the land split to form great ravines, and surging spires of rock. Elsewhere vast chunks of land, known as motes, tore free of the earth & now float a distance above their surroundings. These motes can support small forests, lakes, or even waterfalls that seem to flow constantly. At the same time, the water level of the Sea of Fallen Stars and the Vilhon Reach sank drastically revealing large areas of the sea bed.
The country that was Chondath ceased to exist - it's cities devastated or transported by these changes. Strange creatures coming out of the Plaguewrought lands to the south drove refugees north, where they found a displaced city of Genasi from Abeir. These Genasi organised the refugees to form a fledgling nation that became Akanul. Treaties have been made with their neighbours to the east & west, but there is a large amount of unclaimed & untamed land to the south.
In the city of New Breem, west of the Akanpeaks, and on the mouth of the Vilhon Reach, due to the number of refugees food is becoming scarce, accomodation is at a premium, and disease is an increasing concern. There are rumours spreading through the streets that General Mak-huum & Lord Roskell have been given permission/orders to resettle the lands to the south, and that there are generous rewards for those willing to act as pioneers.
This would be a good opportunity for any refugee down on their luck to get a foot up in the world, a minor official looking to impress their superiors, a person of faith to expand the influence of their deity, or someone needing to lay low for a while. There are also rumours of one group of adventurers who have come out of the south with great wealth.
Any questions?

Is the group happy with me playing a controller? I've not played one before and quite fancy trying one as a change.

One thing I probably should say while you're thinking of characters is that Dragonborn are not very popular in Akanul. The Akanites and the Dragonborn of Tymanther have had a few skirmishes in the past.
If possible I'd like you to message me with your character ideas and a bit of back story/motivations so I can work it into the plot.
