D&D Tuesday @ David_B 6/6:30 to 9:30ish

Joe DM = Erlkazar (forgotten realms / heroic tier) + adapted gardmore abbey.

Hopefully we'll get from 1 - 10 ;-)

PCs

David - Kaddim-huna, Genasi Swordmage {Defender}
Louise - Leshanna, Eladrin Wizard {Controller} OR Cleric?
Lizzi - Calisto Nalarr, Human Rogue/Thief/Loot Acquirer {Striker}
Sarah - Esmerelda, Moon Elf Witch/Seer (eldadrin mage)  {cotroller}
Gregor - Varryz, Drow Rogue (handcrossbow based)
Mark - Dregen Deepforge, Runepriest {Leader}
Lee - Josiah Winters, Warlock  {Striker}
Tim - sorcerer (no such thing as overkill!)  {Striker}

Notes / Hooks

We're a-go for this tuesday the 17th. David will IM/PM the address later.

If people could let me know : name, race , class, alignment-deity, a *little* background, and why you are in Erlkazar. Also if your character know's any of the other characters (and how)

Finally minatures - minis are fun! I have lots of them and am happy to share so if you have no suitable minature I'll see if I can scare one up. Might not be an exact match but should have 2 arms 2 legs and a head!

Physically you will start in a town/city called Saradush - a shadow of it's former self although still a major trading town between amn and calimshan. For whatever reason you'll be there and seeking to head to Erlkazar -- Starting hooks include ; (feel free to make up your own)

Bandit hunter/mercenary: raids on towns outside the barnoies of Erlkazar have reported bandits heading there. Surely one of the barons will be looking for strong mercernaries to help stop the bandit raids.

Courier: You have been hired to deliver a message. Possibly to a wizard or one of the barons of Erlkazar.

Magical Apprenticeship/Journeyman: As a relatively untamed land steeped in ancient magical sites Erlkazar remains largely unexploited. Seeped in magic and largely uneffected by the spellplage it is a realm where a prospective wizard could find enough lore through adventuring to live out their days well content.Indeed you might be seeking an established wizard to learn from their experience.

On the Run: Since it is small and has few political ties Erlkazar is a place where those who need to disappear can do. The introvered townsfolk won't be accepting but aren't likely to turn you in either 'Don't want no trouble 'round these 'ere parts' '

Missionary;  While the locals tend to worship Chauntea and Amaunator there are no major shrines or temples in the region. Perhaps as a zealous champion of your faith you seek to establish a church or temple to your god(s) ?

House Rules
Spoiler: Show

These are bit experimental but might make the game more interesting:

 Action points {only spend 1 per encounter} can be used to:

Re-roll the d20 of a daily or encounter power

Influence an RP scene, or dramatic point or NPC. The example given is to pull the rug from under the villian while he delivers his monologue. So he'd start combat prone and annoyed! I might not have mentioned explicitley that there was a rug but the 'rule of cool applies'

Take a Bullet
 - when one PC is targeted with an attack and an adjacent PC chooses to take the hit for them. It’s usually played out in slow motion as the second PC screams “Nooooooo” and physically moves in front of the attack targeting the first PC. Mechanically it’s the same as the Paladin level 2 utility power, Martyrs Blessing. Feel free not to do this if you're selfish!

Last Second Grab
 is when one PC is knocked off of a ledge and fails the save to catch the ledge, but before they fall and take an obscene amount of damage a second PC grabs them at the last possible second. If you're lucky you might even be able to move and do it!

Also - Players can die. (Just to put that out there) and enemies will behave accordingly (eg hungry mindflayer will go for the wizardly looking one)

Finally we'll need to chat about what kind of game everyone likes - story, plot, dungeon delving or whatever.

My player type: Storyteller - You're more inclined toward the role playing side of the equation and less interested in numbers or experience points.  You're quick to compromise if you can help move the story forward, and get bored when the game slows down for a long planning session.  You want to play out a story that moves like it's orchestrated by a skilled novelist or film director

Louise and I can both play, though Louise will only be able to make it every other week.
We are also happy to host.
I've edited Joe's post with other characters and a link to the iplay4 sheet for them (though they may be altered before the game starts)

I'd be very much interested. My name is Mark I haven't played a dwarf in a long time so I'd like to play a Dwarf Fighter or Cleric or Envoker depending on the groups needs.

Dear All

I'd be interested in getting involved in this. While I enjoy playing a Warlock, I'd be happy to fill whatever role the group needed.

Wow, this is getting pretty crowded, no?

If we all play, that'd be at least 8 PCs, which seems like a lot for one party. I'm pretty flexible as to who/what I play, but I've got a few ideas (as long as it's not a Druid, which I'm playing in another game). I did have a sorcerer in mind (pending approval of the idea from the DM), but would be willing to choose another role to suit the party.

Shirley's a much better venue for me, too, so getting there for 6 might be possible.

Right sitrep;

At the moment, largely due to moving house Gawen is unsure of when he can commit to DMing. He said that it would be horrible to start for a couple of weeks then have to stop a campaign.

With that in mind if we're going to run a campaign (the best way to play :-) ) then I will sort it.

Lots of people seem to be interested which is good. I suggest that we try to organise an introductory session of 'getting everyone together heading towards the place where the plot is at' with a run through the rules for those who haven't played before as well as a get together to sort details, logistics and character bits.
(I know sarah and gregor haven't, have Tim, Lee and Mark playeed 4E before??)

However if people don't think that they can commit to a campaign they are welcome to come to the 'introductory session' and we can then try to sort out alternative arrangements such as a rolling LFR campaign.

Now that I've effectively invited tonnes of people over to davids house I'd better let him know about this...

(*that's situation report for those of us who aren't in the military but have played syphon filter 3)

I've been playing in the Saturday group for a couple of months now, so I know the ropes.

Mark joined us for our last session and seemed to know what he's talking about.

Can't speak for Lee - I've never met the guy.

Are you all interested in playing in a campaign or more of a connected LFR type setup?

I've not played an LFR game before, so wouldn't really know what to expect from it.

We've got a campaign going in the other game I'm involved in, and that's kind of what I used to from D&D, but I'd be willing to try an LFR game if that's what the group usually do, (or what you had in mind).
