    About Me

About Me: Some of you may know me as Dungeons & Dragons Player-in-Chief. It's a tough job, but someone has to keep those R&Ders in line.

When I'm not representing the D&D community, I'm probably doing my "real" job which is Associate Brand Manager for Publishing. I work on all our fine novels from the beautiful and informative Practical Guide series to NYT best-sellers by R.A. Salvatore and Weis & Hickman. I love my job.

I just celebrated my 10 year anniversary at WotC and can't imagine working anywhere else.

In addition to my "real" job, I am also the author of Confessions of a Part-Time Sorceress: A Girl's Guide to the Dungeons & Dragons Roleplaying Game and write a monthly column for Dragon magazine called "Confessions of a Full-Time Wizard."

I play a tiefling wizard named Tabitha in my D&D campaign. Tabitha is a proud member of the Wyld Stallyns adventuring group and very proud of her beloved familiar, Oso de la Fez.
Movies: Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, Juno, Little Miss Sunshine, The Goonies, Talladega Nights (yeah, yeah, I know...I can't help it), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, King of Kong, Garden State.
TV Shows: Flight of the Conchords, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office, 30 Rock, Entourage, Weeds, Project Runway, House, Top Chef, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Nip/Tuck, Big Brother (yeah, I said it) and 99% of HGTV & Food Network
Books, Comics and Graphic Novels: A Prayer for Owen Meany, The Cider House Rules, Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing, Catcher in the Rye, To Kill a Mockingbird, Prep, Girl's Poker Night, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Birds of America, The Big Love, Wicked Lovely, The Boys of My Youth, Harry Potter, Curse of the Single's Table, Confessions of a Part-Time Sorceress
Music: Fiona Apple, Jack Johnson, Poe, Death Cab for Cutie, AC/DC, Muse, Al Green, Cake, The Dandy Warhols, Heather Nova, Brad, Rufus Wainwright, Weezer, and that "dinner party mix" Dan made for me.
      Wizard Book Lines:
      Dark Sun
      Dragonlance
      Eberron
      Forgotten Realms
      Magic: The Gathering
      Mirrorstone
      Other D&D
Hobbies: Cooking, reading, working out, eating as much food as I possibly can, beer tasting, shopping, hanging out at dive bars watching OTHER people do karaoke, volunteering at the animal shelter, hosting dinner parties, going out to eat (see? I'm food obsessed hence the "working out" hobby), knowing what my friends are doing every possible second on Facebook, obsessing over my container garden, playing a wizard in my D&D campaign.
Likes: Dogs, people who like dogs, some cats, chocolate, not eating meat, spell check, writing about D&D, my job, over-cooking for when my friends come over for dinner, a good, unexpected nap, vacationing in Binghamton, NY, toasted sesame bagels with cream cheese, cookbooks, making lists, making lists for the lists I want to make, and a wealth of other things.
Dislikes: Healthy people who stand on the down escalator. At least move over so I can pass. Oh and I very much DISLIKE Lost. There. I said it. Hated it.
      My Games:
      Dungeons & Dragons
      Guillotine
      The Great Dalmuti
Other Games I Play: Card games (especially with my mom, especially for money) and various board games. I have also been known to get behind the drums on an occasional game of Rock Band (even sang once but we won't go there) and can not seem to get enough of Super Monkey Ball.

I went to PAX this year, first PAX ever, and I met you at the Wizards booth. You kindly signed my book and took a picture with me later. I still can't believe that even now, weeks later. Thank you so much for that, it really made my PAX incredibly special.

Congratz on your your pending nuptials, Shelly! Altho, quite frankly, if one didn't know what the word "nuptials" meant and had to guess, it might not be all that flattering and worthy of congratz, but since we're all well-educated here there's no chance of a misunderstanding, is there? Anyways, congratz!
