Appearance





Zakim is skinny, even by Halflings' standards. He has very pale skin and harbors dark hair adorned with some animal skull, feathers and bones. He wears leather armor displaying primitive patterns, paintings, bones and feathers characteristic of his tribe.








Traits and Maneurisms


Zakim is often distracted and unfocused. It is not that he doesn't pay attention, it's just that he has too much to pay attention to, notably the voices of the primordials that whisper in his mind. They are constantly talking to him, including in his sleep. This is why he will often move and scream in his sleep and will constantly look pasty white and tired during the day on top of being wired and jumpy. Zakim is a pure product of a forest ridge tribe, so his urban knowledge is limited. His manners are rather raw and unusual. To take his table manners as an example, he prefers eating his preys while they are still alive








Background





Zakim was born in a tribe of canibalistic halflings in the forest ridge. He was also born with a curse. Primordials are talking to him and using his body as a channel for their powers and as a tool to advance their designs. This would have granted him great power and authority if he could have been in contact with one primordial at a time. Except there are many, and in a state of constant flux, fighting for attention. Yes, there are lots of voices in Zakim's head.


Consequently, as a child, he was slow developping speach abilities. He was always behind and slower at hunting games, training, socialization and the like... But no other child would tease him or bully him, for it happened once, and once only. The aggressor was instantly turned into a fireball until death released him from his agony. His village had few shamans and there was a druid guarding their land. None could understand the source of his powers, but they kept on growing nonetheless. Without guidance from a mentor, they soon became out of control.


Teenagehood introduced Zakim to rage and rebellion... and after a quarrel over a girl pushed him to kill her and destroy half the village by accident, he fled.


No one bothered to track him, as they were pleased to be rid of the threat he represented, and more importantly they were too scared of what he could do to them.


Zakim had to survive in the forest for years "on his own", but with plenty of company in his mind. Until, one day, he ran into an expedition of Templars and various officials from Tyr and was made prisonner. He was held captive in Tyr for a short while, then transported to Altaruk and stored in a cell below the arena for a reason that escapes him.
