When Breeze's mystical palm strikes something tangible she sends a bolt of magic along the same path, and she's rewarded with a grunt of pain from the invisible devil. Therrat has sorceries of his own at his command, though. First, a burst of pale yellow flame washes over Wilem and Frain, and while Wilem ducks behind his shield in time, the dwarf is caught by the full force. Not only is Frain burned by the hellish fire, but as the golden tendrils wrap around him they grip his mind with terror. Frain is hit for 10 fire and psychic damage (so fire resistance alone doesn't apply), and he's pushed 1 square (even after Stand Your Ground); Wilem is missed (which is a pity since he would've been pushed into the fireplace). Next, Krana hears the subtle hiss of steel as a sword is drawn from its sheath. Unable to see where the tiefling stands, she has no hope to block the blade before it cuts roughly along her throat. As blood washes down her neck, the rager can nonetheless count herself lucky that the wound didn't slice a quarter-inch deeper or else her windpipe wound be cut. Krana is hit with a sneak attack for 27 damage. But the cambion saves his most diabolical trick for last. His maniacal laughter rings out in the air, seemingly coming from everywhere at once and echoing inside the heroes' heads. "You are all fools to fight me, my friends." The words drip like foul honey in their ears. "I could have given you wealth and power beyond your imaginings, if that wretched knight hadn't spoiled it for you all!" Despite their better judgement, all of the adventures still in the corridor feel an unstoppable hatred for Wilem, the self-righteous Shield Lander that got them into this mess. Jadeth and Breeze both turn their backs on the battle, striding away down the passageway while casting deadly spells at the knight. Krana and the troglodyte take the opposite tack, charging forward to strike at Wilem with their weapons. The devil makes an area burst attack that targets (and hits) Jadeth, Breeze, Xikel and Krana: each is slid up to 4 squares, and each then makes a melee or ranged basic attack against a target of Therrat's choosing (Wilem!). Jadeth hits him with an eldritch blast for 18 damage; Breeze casts a magic missile for 13 damage; Xikel rolls a crit and deals 17 damage; and Krana strikes for another 19 damage. All in all, 67 points of damage for poor Wilem of Weslan... The feeling of rage passes just as quickly as it begun, though, leaving the four comrades feeling confused and ashamed. Wilem, on the other hand, is staggered by the spells and swords and smashing mattock, but his resolve to see the devil dead doesn't waver. Therrat himself shimmers into view once again with a blood-smeared sword in hand, yellow fire blazing around his eyes, and the same self-serving smile on his infernal lips.
Wilem, Krana, Jadeth, Jaana and Frain can all act next! I'm guessing the devil won't be smiling once they're all through with him.

Therrat grunts when Breeze's magical bolt hits him, and the sound is too close to Wilem. The knight's eyes go wide as he realizes the cambion was directly behind him. Wilem whips around and throws his shield up just in time to avoid a yellow gout of fire from washing over him. The blast of heat threatens to knock him off the table but he holds his ground. By the time he gets his shield down Therrat is still nowhere to be seen. Instead, blood spills from a vicious wound to Krana's neck, and Wilem thinks for a moment they've lost her. But the she-orc shows her mettle, gritting her teeth and looking for the cowardly devil. His voice sounds like he is still in the room.
"You are all fools to fight me, my friends.I could have given you wealth and power beyond your imaginings, if that wretched knight hadn't spoiled it for you all!"
He sees the changes pass over their faces. Fury, hatred. Their minds briefly taken over by the cambion, Wilem's allies attack him. The knight tries to defend himself without retaliating against his friends, but there are too many weapons coming his way. Aware of the suits of armor behind him, and a possible ensorcelled Frain, Wilem's focus is split. He can barely keep up with Krana's furious two-weapon style before he is hit by a bolt of energy from Jadeth and then one from the orc wizard. Krana knocks his sword arm wide with her main blade and slashes it open with her off hand sword just before Xikel smashes Wilem in the side with his hammer.
The knight, still on the table, falls to one knee, his breathing causing a sharp pain where Xikel struck his ribs. For all his courage and boldness, Wilem is at a loss. He won't go down without a fight, but he won't raise his sword against his friends. But how to defeat the invisible cambion with Krana in his way, and the others throwing spells?
He looks up to meet his fate and is struck by several sights. The rage has passed from his companions' faces, confusion taking its place. Therrat reveals himself, a sadistic grin taunting the Shield Lander. Jaana appears from the side room and stabs Therrat, sending him stumbling forward. Wilem slides off the table and swings at Therrat, aiming to decapitate the man. But Therrat's skill is impressive, and he regains his composure almost immediately. He brings his rapier up and blocks Wilem's sword stroke.

The sounds of Therrat's sliding steel been unsheathed and the disuption of the mystical hand passages where a sound of grunting pain following (Krana has Passive DC 22 Perception) opted Breeze to screamed a Powerful Warning to Krana "Krana! Front left, next to you! Strike now!" Yet the half-orc was too rattled to give a good enough attempt to strike the elusive devil. Show
Krana gains a +3 power bonus to all defenses against Therrat's weapon attack.

Breeze: Unfortunately, the +3 to AC isn't enough to prevent the sneak attack on Krana; also, since Therrat was still invisible until the end of his turn, the MBA misses as well.
As her comrades scatter from the devil's dark influence, Jaana slips into the breach and stabs Therrat with her short sword. The blow sends him stumbling, right towards Wilem, but he manages to raise his sword in time to parry the knight's furious slash.

Krana rushes the shieldlander, not seeming to recognize her rage as not being her own. "Got all me rightful kills stolen in the last brawl, I'm not lettin' ye short me again!" she snarls, laying into Wilem. As the magic fades her rage focuses on the foes again, and she flows with it seamlessly. "And to the Hells with you!" she calls. Turning to the armor behind her, she plunges her blade straight into it, the enscorcelled steel punching a hole that would have pierced the heart, if the armor had one. It doesn't, though, so the blow is not so fatal as it might have been. Still, the rent threatens to widen easily as Krana kicks the armor off of her blade, sending it stumbling into the fireplace.

Frain grunts as the devilsh fires burn his skin and his mind, but the dwarf is made of sterner stuff. He comments in a calm tone, "It is getting a little warm."
Looking back he catches sight of the evil creature being thrown into the fireplace. He shouts "MORADIN!" and pulls his frosted hammer in a backhanded arc, crushing its heavy head into the animated armor before him. The stone floor beneath the construct shifts and its bulk crashes down to the floor with the impact of the warden's strike.
Using the creature's fall to his advantage, Frain dances backwards towars the fireplace and shakes the head of his hammer menacingly in the devils direction. "You will have no escape from us. I suggest you surrender before the true pain begins."

Krana recovers from the momentary madness and turns to fend off the attacking armor. Her sword punches through the creature's breastplate and knocks it backwards into the roaring fireplace. The warrior's steel skin quickly turns red-hot as flames flicker over it, but it isn't dead yet. Frain focuses on the other platemail soldier, smashing his hammer into it and knocking it to the floor. It slashes back with its sword, but can't reach the dwarf from the flat of its back. Reaction attack misses Frain; Krana triggers one two, but since she pushed the armor she's out of its reach. Grawln: Krana pushed armor 1 into the fire, not Therrat, so I'm guessing you don't want to move to over to mark that one. (Therrat is already marked by Wilem, by the way, though I forgot to mark that in my last post.) If you want to use you move action for something else, just let me know.

Jadeth shakes off the tiefling's diabolical grip on her brain and hurls a spell at him. Maybe she still wishes she could have a civil conversation with Therrat, or maybe it's a lingering whiff of possession, but something makes her magic sail wide and leave the cambion unharmed. Jadeth moves, curses Therrat, and casts an eldritch blast (miss). Xikel, too, comes out of his trace and turns his ire on the necromancer. The troglodtye sweeps at Therrat's feet with his tail, but the tiefling easily leaps out of the way. Xikel misses.
On the other side of the table, the animate suit of armor lurches out of the roaring fireplace, its plates and sword glowing red-hot from the fire. Krana crosses her swords in plenty of time to parry the chopping blade aimed at her head. Armor 1 misses. Its save vs ongoing damage fails, as well. The second suit of armor struggles to rise from the ground, unable break free of the grasping earth. It reaches out with its sword for Frain but can't find a chink in his armor. Armor 2 misses.
