Thanks again, Lin! And hi, everyone. I'm rather new to PbP stuff, I think only Akavasha recognizes me.

By the way, I've been reading the Lore thread, and it's pretty cool how you been coherently tying in all of our random, um, details into the setting.

Most definitely excited for this. :D
Mirrors in the Desert Show
If, on a desert night, a traveler, outside the town of Balic, leaning from the steep slope, without fear of wind or vertigo, looks down in the gathering shadow (in a network of lines that interlace) on the carpet of sand illuminated by the moon around an empty grave, what story down there awaits its end?

Heh, it took me a while, but I'm glad I started on it a few days ago so I wouldn't have to make you all wait

I have made some minor changes to a few details, so I would advise everyone to at least take a look at the details regarding themselves.
LordManshoon, this reminds me, the Order of the Lord's Eye cannot be the oldest religious order in Ulrynth if it started during the Dread Winter. I haven't put it directly, but I suggest the Order is old, but only rose to power/fame during said winter.

And Jacques, I split off the extreme faction from LM's order so they won't all be viewed as witch-burning murderers Your character may or may know this, I'll leave that for you to decide.

Well, I only said they were *one* of the oldest groups, so that's fine.

As for business...

Lady and gentlemen.... I present to you the Edition War without Contrition, the War of the Web, the Mighty Match-up!

We're using standard edition war rules.  No posts of substance.  Do not read the other person's posts with comprehension.  Make frequent comparison to video games, MMOs, and CCGs.  Use the words "fallacy" and "straw man", incorrectly and often.  Passive aggressiveness gets you extra points and asking misleading and inflammatory questions is mandatory.  If you're getting tired, just declare victory and leave the thread.  Wait for the buzzer... and....

One, two, three, four, I declare Edition War
Five, six, seven eight, I use the web to

D&D should not return to the days of blindfolding the DM and players. No tips on encounter power? No mention of expected party roles? No true meaning of level due to different level charts or tiered classes? Please, let's not sacrifice clear, helpful rules guidelines in favour of catering to the delicate sensibilities of the few who have problems with the ascetics of anything other than what they are familiar with.

Just a quick note on the MMORPG as an insult comparison...

MMORPGs, raking in money by the dumptruck full.  Many options, tons of fans across many audiences, massive resources allocated to development.

TTRPGs, dying product.  Squeaking out an existence that relys on low cost.  Fans fit primarily into a few small demographics.  R&D budgets small, often rushed to market and patched after deployment.

You're not really making much of an argument when you compare something to a MMORPG and assume people think that means bad.  Lets face it, they make the money, have the audience and the budget.  We here on this board are fans of TTRPGs but lets not try to pretend none of us play MMORPGs.

Telling someone to move over a few feet is magical now? :|

I weep for this generation.

Given the laziness and morbid obsesity amongst D&Ders, being able to convince someone to get on their feet, do some heavy exercise, and use their words to make them be healthier must seem magical.

First things first - Lin, thank you very, very much for allowing me to play in your game.  I am very excited!!!

I am looking forward to gaming with the rest of you. I don't think LM and I have played in many games together but I know the rest of you as excellent rp'ers and I am thrilled to be in this game with you! This is going to be so much fun.

Jacques: You are going to blow the rest of them away! I am glad we are in another game together. Looks like Espy and Cassilda know each other, if for nothing more than having to attend meetings together in the Command Tent. Actually, since she often volunteers for the most dangerous assignments, it is likely she and Cassilda have worked together before. Espy can sneak her in and Cassilda can burn it to the ground. Huzzah!

Jrmabie: I just love your character’s picture!

Hey guys!  I'm glad to be here, thanks for having me.

Seriously, though, you should check out the PbP Haven.  You might also like Real Adventures, IF you're cool.

@Aka:  I love yours too!

I am really glad to have made the cut as well.  I was sweating it there for a bit, because there were so many awesome submissions.  I almost feel guilty for making it.  Almost.

I actually do feel a little guilty, because I tipped off friends to this game that didn't make it.  But hey, there's always another game.

I couldn't read anyone else's background, except Pash's. I was too afraid they would all be super good and it would only scare me. I was sweating bullets at the end there. There were a LOT of submissions and I know the calibre of some of those other players. I am so happy to have made the cut!

Looks like Cassilda gets to continue to follow Iton around. Good thing too, she has to go see him and have him fix a nick in her dagger.

I am so excited to get started!!!!

Never tip anyone off to a good game. I figure it only lessens the chances of my getting in. Lol.
