Original Settlers
(NPCs who travelled from New Cyre, a partial list)
Ardnell: A veteran in his late fifties, Ardnell is a clever man. Of all the refugees, he has the most means, and some strategic sense. He has volunteered to serve in the caravan's defense. He made some sort of deal with Galinn. Remy is his wife of a few years. Ardnell was wounded at the Ford with a cracked rib.
Remy: A dutiful homemaker, Remy married Ardnell for protection and money, but likes him well enough. She loves her son Ferth and would do anything to protect him. Ferth's father died in the war.
Ferth: At fifteen, Ferth is ready to earn some independence. He would like to fight for glory, and is a decent shot with a sling. He has a crush on Shayla. A sling stone broke his arm at the Ford.
Clem: A farmer in his late twenties. Clem is strong, but has no interest in fighting, he's just trying to start his life over. Married to Asti, father of Pollan. Clem took a javelin in the gut at the ford, and is still in serious condition. Sent downriver to Liford in the canoes.
Asti: An ordinary woman in her twenties, Asti is the head of her little family. She is perhaps seven months pregnant with Clem's second child, but it doesn't seem to slow her down. Mother of Pollan.
Pollan: A five-year old boy, son of Clem and Asti. He and Rose are good friends.
Jon: A reluctant farmer, Jon is in his early thirties. He's seen some action, and shows some milage, but seems resigned to settling down to the quiet life now. Jon and Karyn are married, with children Rose and Merrick. Leg broken, Jon went downriver to Liford in the canoes.
Karyn: Jon's partner for years, Karyn has a bit of a wild streak. She is in her early thirties. Children Rose and Merrick. A goblin stabbed Karyn in her side at the ford. she has gone downriver to Liford in the canoes.
Rose: A girl of six, Rose is Pollan's good friend. She has gone downriver with her parents.
Merrick: Three year-old boy, the youngest of the setters. He has gone downriver with his parents.
Gemma: A fading beauty in her fifties, Gemma lost her husband and first son in the war. She's a merchant and somewhat out of her element, but is determined to make a new life somehow. She has two surviving children, Mabel and Tann, and two grandchildren, Regil and Vergil.
Mabel: Gemma's daughter is in her mid-twenties and already a widow. Her sons are a constant trial, and her little brother has been (up until recently) exasperating. Mabel plans to remarry but has no prospects.
Rinna (8) and Vergil (7): are thick as thieves, old enough to cause trouble but too young to be of any help. They sometimes tease the young children.
Shayla: A half-elven slip of a girl in her teens, Shayla has no family, or none she will speak of. She has been acting as a second mother to the little ones and is usually with them.
Dori: A middle-aged woman of stern voice and weathered features. She volunteered to fight for the caravan and acquitted herself well at the ford. She is twice widowed and seems to be done with men.
Hargnurr: A middle-aged dwarf and veteran of the Last War. Harnurr has sworn to never take up arms again. His hollow eyes tell of horrors that he's seen.
Rollin: Though he is in his sixties, Rollin is still strong, even as his eyesight and hearing fade. Once a warrior, he fought well for the caravan with his staff and now goes downriver with the canoes to protect his adopted family.
Mel: An older man and a loner, Mel died at the ford.
