I hope everyone had a happy holliday! I had a nice enough one myself despite spending time with my family.

Not bad, not bad. I can make the same comment as you Roasted, though in my case it absolutley was despite spending time with my family. I was at an in-laws wedding on the 24th, and the bride's return dinner on the 25th - very trad Chinese things, with a couple of rather strange quirks coming out. These can vary a lot, in this case it was the bride and groom at one point sitting on a pair of pants.

Well, at least you seem in a good mood about someone scheduling their wedding to conflict with Christmas. That's a postive note. Not sure what the sitting on a pair of pants was about ... But then again I don't know very many traditional Chinese couples in real life.

I thought I'd escaped. I saw you sniffing and poking around in this thread... then low and behold, another character that miraculously has been taught how to listen well

Aw, come on, you know you love gaming together!   I was sniffing. Lol. I didn't think anyone would notice. I kept telling myself I simply could not join any more games and then more than half a dozen up and died on me. It's a new year and I decided to poke my nose in. Since I cut my D&D PbP teeth in a game RS was DMing, I already knew there would be no way I could pass up a chance to beg to get in once I read the storyline. Even the name got me hooked - Goblin City. Sounds like something fun. (Or really scary!)

I actually must apologize for playing a rogue when there is already one in the game. My reasoning was simple. I played a rogue in the first game with RS and I was feeling a bit nostalgic. I know I checked through the other characters but I missed that Rik was also a rogue. Hopefully, Mayeen can fill more of the scouting type duties while Rik does more of the pick-pocket, break into things type. That's if Grawin wants to separate their skills out and have them concentrate on different areas. I do like the idea of Rik writing stories while Mayeen draws. Maybe they can work together and she can draw pictures for the beginning of each chapter of his book.

I am very excited to join you guys! You are all excellent rp'ers and this is going to be excellent. Plus, if this game follows RS's normal style, there will be curveballs we never see coming. This is going to be awesome!

Doh! Aka again!!  I just can't escape!!

Good to have you aboard!

No worries on the double rogue thing.  I was assuming I was gonna multi-class Rik at some point anyway - either as a fighter/rogue or as a (non-optimal build) rogue/bard.  with 3.5e there's plenty of customization available - particularly with rogues.

Looking forward to it!

I am going to multi-class Mayeen, but only by taking a couple levels in fighter. I cannot resist the two bonus feats, which I can definitely use. Since Mayeen is going to be as much of a ranged fighter as she can, I really could use the Point Blank Shot and Precise Shot feats. Other than that, I think I will strick with a straight rogue.

So, I assume you've realized this is a theifly and roguish party. Play to your personalities and strengths, the world and your adventures will takes shape around you in response to your actions.

I was very happy to have Aka express an interest in the thread. I like the details she puts into her character, giving them some artistic talent as a foil for roleplaying. I look forward to seeing how she evolves in this game.

Again, welcome aboard!

I have presented to Grawlin and opportunity to spin roleplaying off of Vino in the current thread. Depending on how he responds, I may provide more storyweaving elements or dial it back. I like to see my players thinking. I would like to encourage you towards speculation and advance thought. I have seen dungeon masters who tend to thwart players by twisting situations around against them. I try very hard not to do that.

In particular, I had an experience where my character was going against a more powerful NPC and happened to get a lucky shot. I expressed smugness through the character and the NPC happened to get a coincidental critical hit that killed my character. I understand some of you may have developed a habit of not being forward thinking into the game from situations similar, where the DM seems to delight in thwarting you.

Personally, I have always though that was dirty pool. I want my players involved in the plot and thinking about potential twists and curves. If I wanted to force a plot down your throats, I'd be better served writting stories by myself.

Remember, the purpose is to have fun, so enjoy yourself.

@Roasted - sounds great. Looking forward to see how things develop. I'm still trying to feel out what Rik's like. I'm hoping to use the discussion to help flesh him out a bit better.

I'm still feeling my way with Rex a bit too. Regardless of his book knowledge, and I'll expand on that going forward, he's going to remain a man of action though Ergo the brisk reply.
