With Rik's bardic skills and Mayeen's artistic skills, I wonder if they can somehow go into business together. It's been a long day and my brain is a bit sluggish. Let me give this some thought and see if I can come up with something a bit more interesting than "going into business together."

Sounds good, though i have to admint, nothing is coming to mind

Note that the only Performance skill Rik's got right now is Oratory. Not sure how that can help, though I'm sure he'd be passable doing other types of performances.

In Riks backstory i had him being interested in writing. perhaps book creation might be of interest, though can'tsee that raking in much money for them.

Oratory as a perform skill on it's own might be used in public speaking. Essentially, a job as a press agent for some lord or political faction. I believe Oratory is the art of public speaking with an eye to convincing someone of one point or another. As such, the skill seems greatly overlapping with Diplomacy. As set in our current socioeconomic model, someone skilled with Oratory might be employed in courts of law as someone who presents the prespective of on party over another in lawsuits or the like. Of course, you don't have much knowledge of law, so you'd have to work with a partner who had such knowledge and then use your oratory skill to present the arguments.

Oratory would also be the skill used by priests giving sermons, but I don't imagine that much appeals to you.

Wow, time sure flies! I hope everyone is having a good summer. Ours is almost over here, as the weatherman has predicted snow in the coming week. I am both horribly sad and happy at the same time, as we have the nation's largest fire going in the nearby mountains and it isn't going to be put out until the snows come.

I apologize for the absence. RL has been beating on me and I let a few games slide. I am hoping to get Mayeen's year written up soon. I toyed with the idea of making her a straight psion, but I simply cannot do it. I cannot lose all those skill points she gets with the rogue level. Although, maybe...   I cannot seem to make up my mind. Bah! I will decide soon. Honest.

RS, how much leeway are you allowing us when writing up the year? I have been thinking of a way for Mayeen to work out their issues with the local thieves guild, which would include her drawing experience & perhaps a promise to never draw out certain leaders to the authorities. I don't want to step on your toes though if that would interfere with any plans you might have for the theives guild. (And at the same time, I'd love to ruin any plans you might have with the thieves guild...LOL!!!)

EDIT: Mayeen will earn money with her drawing skills. She is very popular when it comes to family portraits & has even been hired for special events, capturing them forever with the stroke of her pens or oils or whatever medium she is using. (Guess this means she's going to need to spend money on an artist kit.)

You should feel as much freedome as you normally enjoy with background character development. Realistically, I do expect to actually send you into the aforementioned Goblin Rift so you'd probably want to choose a Patron. Other than that, things outside the rift should be of less that pressing importance so have fun.

As far as a Patron, Mayeen is going with Starmote. There seems to be an affinity between them, which I did not expect. I had thought to perhaps find a way to choose the Lich as her Patron, sort of going for that extra long-life thing, but it would feel like a betrayal to Starmote. Sometimes the game goes in a different direction than I could have ever expected. Of course, your games are never predictable, which is amazing and wonderful and a bit nerve wracking at the same time. Lol.

sorry for the long delays. will try and get back to regular posting over the next bit.

Not sure what Rik would do for a patron. He came to a grudging acceptance of the aboleth so that is possible. Not sure how he feels about the fairy that he believes has caused most of these problems in the first place. He might prefer the more "human-like" fairy to the otherworldly aboleth, but i could be swayed.

Mayeen could benefit from some company as she walks back and forth between their new home and Starmote's little cavern. She would love it if Rik would walk with her. Less problems with bandits or other nefarious people/creatures if there are two of us instead of one lonely person wandering through the woods looking vulnerable. If Rik becomes more comfortable with Starmote and chooses him as a patron, that works great for Mayeen.

I am hoping to post something to the game thread, but it has been a hell of a week and I am braindead so it may be another day or so. Outwardly I look like this =     Inwardly I look like this =
EDIT: I posted but it isn't anything with any real depth. Mayeen is being a teenager, with moods that change lightning fast. Gotta keep the men on their toes.
