Not a spell, but a spell-like ability from his school. Regis didn't break free but rather "convinced" Swirl to let him free.

Crap, I guess that means he would've needed a concentration check to do while grappled. I always forget that it's not just spells.

Will tweak the post depending on the result of the roll.

Edit: guess I don't need to double check all the modifiers what with that beauty of a natural 1. Thanks guido.

Time to tweak his actions.

Natural 20 by Swirl to grapple Regis and natural 1 for him to do something which would have meant his escape. Fate just doesn't like Regis!

Note to Regis: up your CMD. By a lot. Poor sob. Attacking and blinding a wizard with ink? Very dirty Omen!

Wonder if his followers were brought along or not? Hmmm ... he is a manipulator after all.

Fate has a nasty way of turning against the characters quickly enough that I refuse to feel bad for Regis.

Fate is indeed fickle but I'm just relieved that Regis will be occupied from unleashing a horde of spells at us!!

Besides, it's his black robes that brought this on him.

Learned all about fickle rolls last night in a skype game. My bard couldn't hit squat with her bow so next fight she's goaded into using her sword. In theory she's worse with the sword.

Nothing but crits.

Next fight? Didn't hit a thing (unless you count kicking guido's character in the head to wake him  ).

Regis has got to be a little intimidated by Lutgar right now!!

Quick Announcement:

We're nearing the end of chapter 2. Look into levelling up to 8!

Most of the treasure will come in the form of cash (or something equivalent ... I haven't hammered out details yet) recovered from the manor (to be explained in game). You'll be stuck in Xak Tsaroth over the winter, but this is a trade hub so you should be able to buy/sell items (except ability score boosting) without much issue.

You'll also be able to craft without issue.

After that you'll be leaving Xak Tsaroth behind.

I think there were plans at some point for PC birthdays? Feel free to RP those if you want! It's 8th month of 937 and likely you'll be able to set out again in the early months of 938 so no lack of time for crafting/shopping/bdays/crazy antics.

==============================

Chapter 3 will see some of the longer term consequences of the manipulations to the timeline (such as starting the war) come to light. The title is taken from Dragons of Autumn Twilight when Raistlin says "Solace is burning". In this case it's: Silvanesti is Burning.

I am looking through the game thread and thinking, "Where's my post?" I don't know if the Post Monster ate it or what, but it certainly isn't there. With the way this past week has gone, I would guess I wrote up the post and either forgot to post it or simply lost it. :/  Let me get something posted so Kestrel isn't holding up the game any.

No worries

I've had posts time out where I took too long to write something and it 'ate' the post because of that. I have no idea how long it takes to time out though.

That's why occasionally I'll half finish a post and add a note saying it's not done. Then edit it. That way I get around the timeouts.
