Caradoc raps on the door of the old house. He hears rustling in side and is sure he sees the curtains by a nearby window move slightly but no one comes to answer the door.
Finnigan has more success. His call up to the man in the boats rigging elicites a grunt, followed by an "Aye. As well as a man can be force to fix this damnable boat one more time because of the damnable weather the night before."
He regards the group, and its clear he finds the odd collection peculiar though he doesn't betray whatever else he might think of the group.
Staring down at the halfling he continues, "What might ya be wanting. I ain't expecting no guests and I got plenty o'work left while its light."
His eye then catches Caradoc by his small homes door and calls out quickly, "Hey you. You be staying away from me home now!" He stares intently at the wizard before again addressing the hafling below.
Hurry up and speak yer business and then be off with ya. I aint looking fer no company and i aing be wanting any."
Since her primary weapon can be drawn from an extradimentional space, Alexis kees her hands above her waist and outside of her cloak, as a drow with her hands out of sight is a dangerous thing; however, she does not let off her guard.
"It's dangerous to go alone, Jerk-wads!" (Borderlands 2)
“All right, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade! Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I'm the man whose gonna burn your house down - with the lemons!” (Portal 2)
Finnigan puts his hand gently on Alexis' sword arm and shakes his head firmly. Turning to the man he says "Ah. Well...we are interested in chartering your services as a captain. We seek passage to the Light House of the Red Shoals. We are prepared to be....generous." Finnigan hefts the sack of of coins the lady gave them a couple of times, displaying its weight.

Caradoc, focused intently on the cabin and the reclusive occupant inside, startles when he hears the sailor bellow at him from the boat. He regains his composure as quickly as he can, and starts hurrying down the strand towards the pier. He calls back to the man, "I'm sorry, sir! I was merely, er... looking for you." He stumbles as much over his words as he does the rocky ground. "I mean no offense."
The man nods a quiet acceptance to Caradoc's apologies but then stares intently at Finnigan, considering the halfling sailor's words. His expression changes from curiosity to bewilderment. Then somewhat unexpectedly, he swings down from his perch on the mast with remarkable ease, landing lightly on the deck and begins to howl with laughter. "Hahha. The Red Shoals? Well. That means your either daft as a duck or as desperate as a.. as a.. well really desperate."
Looking at Finnigan he realizes that the halfling is being serious.
Look. Coin is well and good but I ain't one to take any ole passangers, particularly ones I ain't knowing. Even more particularly when they be wanting to go there. So spill it half-man. What be so important that you want to waste a load o'coin to head that ways?"
"We are under the employ of Lady Rumirel. She has authorized us to pay one hundered gold to the kind soul that will take us to the light house and back. Might you have an intrest in one hundered gold?" Finnigan clinks the bag again for emphasis.

"The life of a brave man hangs in the balance," Caradoc says, appealing the mariner's morality. "And, indeed, that of the whole Barony," he adds, recklessly forgeting any concern for discretion.
