Yax continues his sweeping and cautious probing until by need of movement, his attention is turned towards Kiera. Pausing in an unnatural contortion, leaning forward, limbs extended at odd angles, milky white eyes meet brown ones. Then the thing smiles, teeth of purest ivory save for the one incisor of burnished gold, glinting briefly in diffuse light.
Before time would come for words, the shouts, thumps and racket of the activities in the Brig bring Yax upright into a much more conventional stance, shifting in place to face the door to the Weapon Storage room and by proxy the Brig, his hands shifting into a two-handed grip on... a sword that is not there.
"Tanjit." The voice is smooth, melodic and not particularly masculine; the word is Drow though the accent definitely isn't. Yax's hands shift again quickly, catching the falling electric broom, flipping it up into a strong grip. Not the most menacing of weapons, but better than nothing, assumedly.
There seems to be a bit of confusion here (it may just be mine), as the brig is on the lower deck and the medbay (where Yax and Kiera would have noticed each other) is on the top deck. So Yax would need to go down the stairs as opposed to just turning around... unless he's in the habit of using the intra-ship short-jump system, which would drive the Captain absolutely bonkers....?

I was fairly clear on the positioning; Yax is on the bottom deck, cleaning up. As Kiera posted noticing him, I assumed she was there as well; its possible that the sick man isn't in the medbay but in his own bed on the lower level?
Or I could be incorrect, in which case, Yax'll probably have a slower reaction time in general as he wont hear what is going on as quickly and I'll edit my post.

Yeah, sorry - I just reread her post and realised that Kiera's precise location wasn't given, so we can presume she was on the lower level as well. In which case, the injured or sick person wouldn't be in a bed so much as in a bedroll on the floor, or perhaps in some kind of impromptu stretcher, if his maladies are related to incident that destroyed the transport. Carry on.

I had assumed that Yax, and the passenger that she was seeing to, was in the Amp Buffer area on the upper deck as the medbay is presumably still being fixed/cleaned/organised and no-one is suffering from critical injuries. However it could be just as easily have been on the lower deck.
For the sake of the continuity of the story, lets just assume it's on the lower deck

Thought I would post these here. When soudou and I were discussing how to handle the Boots of Agile Leaping, now that Jump is rolled into Athletics (i.e. price increase, only affects jumping still, etc...), I got inspired and put this together. The first three items have been approved, the last two I haven't quite finished yet and I'm not sure about the set bonuses. Cat Burglar's Garb - Magic Item Set
Show
Custom Magic Item Set: ===================================================== Cat Burglar's Garb ----------------------------------------------------- BOOTS OF AGILE LEAPING Price (Item Level): 600 gp (3rd) Body Slot: Feet Caster Level: 3rd Aura: Faint; (DC 16) transmutation Activation: — Weight: 2 lb.
These crocodile-skin boots feel slightly elastic. While wearing boots of agile leaping, you can add your Dexterity modifier (instead of your Strength modifier) on Jump checks.
If you have at least 5 ranks in Balance, you can stand from prone as a swift action. When standing from prone, you do not provoke attacks of opportunity.
Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, cat’s grace. Cost to Create: 300 gp, 24 XP, 1 day. -----------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------- GLOVES OF NIMBLE CLIMBING Price (Item Level): 600 gp (3rd) Body Slot: Hands Caster Level: 3rd Aura: Faint; (DC 16) transmutation Activation: — Weight: 2 lb.
These crocodile-skin gloves feel slightly elastic. While wearing gloves of nimble climbing, you can add your Dexterity modifier (instead of your Strength modifier) on Climb checks.
If you have at least 7 ranks in Sleight of Hand, you can retrieve a stored item as a swift action. When retrieving a stored item, you do not provoke attacks of opportunity.
Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, cat’s grace. Cost to Create: 300 gp, 24 XP, 1 day. -----------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------- VEST OF SLICK SWIMMING Price (Item Level): 2800 gp (7th) Body Slot: Torso Caster Level: 3rd Aura: Faint; (DC 16) transmutation Activation: — Weight: 2 lb.
This ray-skin vest feels slightly slippery. While wearing a vest of slick swimming, you can add your Dexterity modifier (instead of your Strength modifier) on Swim checks.
If you have at least 9 ranks in Escape Artist, you can attempt to escape from a grapple as a move action.
Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, cat’s grace. Cost to Create: 1450 gp, 58 XP, 1 day. -----------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------- CAT CLAW FEVER Price (Item Level): 10000 gp (14th) Body Slot: Face Caster Level: 3rd Aura: Faint; (DC 16) transmutation Activation: — Weight: 2 lb.
These lenses fit into the eyes, altering the user's pupils to slits and causing them to glow slightly in the dark. Crystals of cat claw fever allow the user to use the Weapon Finesse feat, replacing their Str modifier with Dex on attacks with light weapons.
If you have at least 11 ranks in Spot, you gain low-light vision. (??? - doesn't fit the pattern, not sure what's appropriate though. Maybe the ability to ready a full round action? i.e. being very aware and responsive)
Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, cat’s grace. Cost to Create: 1450 gp, 58 XP, 1 day. -----------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------- CLOAK OF EPHEMERAL SPEED Price (Item Level): 22000 gp (14th) Body Slot: Face Caster Level: 3rd Aura: Faint; (DC 16) transmutation Activation: — Weight: 2 lb.
This cloak... does something cool related to replacing Str with Dex, just not sure what. Was originally thinking something along the lines of the collar of umbral metamorphisis to justify the cost. Part might be replacing Str with Dex for damage and then possibly granting an extra swift action each round, since these give a lot of extra swift action options. Use to tie together item set.
If you have at least 13 ranks in Disable Device and Open Lock, you can open a lock as a standard action and disabling a trap takes 1 round less then normal, to a minimum of 1 move action.
Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, cat’s grace. Cost to Create: 1450 gp, 58 XP, 1 day. -----------------------------------------------------
Set Bonuses: 2 items - +2 racial bonus to Disable Device and Open Lock checks. 3 items - +2 racial bonus to Climb, Hide, Move Silently, Jump, and Balance checks. 4 items - 1/day knock (CL character level) 5 items - 2/day ethereal jaunt (CL 5)

Rather than keep going with the round by round stuff, maybe it would be better to just post the plan? At this point Red intends to dash past Ketra, Vera, and Roac, and assuming Cara's got the door open, gather her up and exit the room, then close and lock it from outside.
The greater plan, once Ketra is thoroughly embarassed, would be to get the captain to swear two equal footing with the two until they can all find out what Hanub's grift was, then let Cara and Red away scot free.
Of course, it could fail at any point.

Yeah, I hadn't really intended a round-by-round like this right off the bat, but Cinevus' actions kind of initiated it more than the Captain's... Ketra was just gonna rough him up a little bit and be done with it.
There are a lot of variables, and a reasonable chance that Red gets knocked out before succeeding, so I think it's best if we do stick with the round-by-round for now. It seems to be moving along quickly enough, so it shouldn't drag out for much longer.
For what it's worth, Ketra's "greater plan," as you put it, would be to beat a bit more snot out of Red, throw him back in the cell, and then turn him over for the Zerth bounty... and then probably break him out (particularly after finding out what Hunab's deal is), fly to Yanki space, and turn him again. > Things could obviously change on the way - it's a long trip between systems.
