Hagurr is quiet in the morning, rubbing his hands and stretching to wake up.  He nods along as consensus builds to take the longer and safer route.  Once they break camp, he pulls on his woolen cap and heavy hide   mitts.  He grips his great maul and follows right behind Fargath and Kira.
Flag Layasa March 14, 2012 9:33 PM PDT
After the long day of travel, Tristeza is ready to lay down and rest. After finding their camping spot, she quickly lies down to fall asleep, only slightly reluctant due to the fact that she cannot yet go liberate those ghosts of their curses and send them to her mistress.

Upon waking the following morning, Tristeza stretches hugely and puts her armor back on. After waking up and having a small portion of their quick breakfast, she scratches Kira behind the ears and thanks her and Fargath for the meal.

After a quick conversation, Tristeza agrees with Fargath and Hagurr and silently follows behind them.
Flag Draidden March 15, 2012 7:06 AM PDT
After carefully chosing your path you arrive at the site of the ruins. There are no standing buildings left, just lots of rock piles and the bottoms of walls that have been knocked down. A little searching and you find a 10' wide opening with stairs leading down into the ground. Looking down you easily notice that the stairs descend 15' into a hallway that heads north. You cannot see what is beyond the first 5' of that hallway, but you do see light shining down there.

Let me know the order you wish to proceed and any other precautions or preparations you wish to make.
Flag shanizar March 15, 2012 3:23 PM PDT
As they approach the stairs, Hagurr says he can take the lead. Fargath doesn't have any objections to the idea as he's heard dwarves live underground...

"I'll go behind you then and keep a lookout."

Kira doesn't look too thrilled about going underground and frankly Fargath isn't either, but the two find strength in each other and walk down the stairs together, a few feet behind Hagurr.

Fargath and Kira will walk about 10' behind Hagurr.
Flag greymouse March 16, 2012 7:05 AM PDT
Wren follows behind Fargath choosing to take a position in the middle of the group as they go in.

I leave for vacation tomorrow and will be gone a week.  I'll be back 3/25ish.
Flag PapaMidnight March 16, 2012 8:39 AM PDT
Recalling hymns from his childhood, Hagurr whispers prayers to Clangeddin Silverbeard as he walks down the steps and up the hallway.
Flag Layasa March 19, 2012 2:22 AM PDT
After noticing a bit too late as to who's going in already, Tristeza tries to move her way up behind Hagurr before everyone is already going down the tunnel.
Flag shanizar March 19, 2012 5:50 AM PDT
Fargath doesn't bother to start discussing marching order with Tristeza but drops down to between Cross and Wren.

So I guess the order from first to last ends up being Hagurr, Tristeza, Wren, Fargath, Cross...
Flag Draidden March 20, 2012 6:34 AM PDT
As you walk down the stairs you see two hoboglbin soldiers standing waiting for you armed with heavy shields and flails wearing scale armor. Behind them are two goblin sharpshooters armed with crossbows wearing leather armor with short swords on their belt.

One of the hobgoblins speaks, Leave now or die!

I'll post actions to move things along. Actions are dependant on us deciding to attack and the two soldiers still standing next to each other. If one is hurt he will throw it at that soldier. If noone is hurt he throws it at the one to the left.

Fargath and Kira move into position by moving to the right and far enough down the stairs to see the two hobgoblin soldiers. Saying a quick word, Fargath imbues his knife with a spirit of possession before throwing it at the soldier. The knife finds its mark and the spirits start their work, forcing the hobgoblin to attack his partner.

Flag Draidden March 22, 2012 4:09 PM PDT
Wren decides to wait and see what happens.

Hagurr gives his response and starts forward. Sharpshooter 1 raises his hand crossbow and puts the small bolt right into Hagurr's shoulder hitting a joint in the armor almost perfectly. This triggers his Battle Resilience. As Hagurr gets within striking distance Soldier 2 lashes out with his flail, but Hagurr is able to dodge it easily.

Hagurr then smashes the hobgoblin with his maul pushing him backwards with the power of the blow and marks him.

Shanizar, do you wish to change your attack as there is no ally adjacent to the hobgoblin so although you would do damage, he would not have anyone to attack. You can keep the same roll, just change the modifier if needed.

Map is not up to date, but the action chart does show the correct location for each person. I'll update the map in the morning.

Fargath hears the commotion downstairs as Hagurr attacks the enemy. He hurries down the stairs and quickly assesses the situation.

He doesn't want the hobgoblins to run for help and decides to go all out to prevent them from doing that. He quickly throws his knife, making it turn into a swarm of bats to herd the enemies together and slow them down. The swarm descends on the hobgoblins, biting them and forcing them to move together.

In the meantime the knife returns and Fargath throws it again, this time imbuing it with a possessing spirit, making the soldier attack one of his comrades.

Not taking his eyes of the goblin in the back, Cross makes his way up the right side of the room, until he is within reach with his chain. Whirling the chain, he imbues it with shadow magic. Suddenly he strikes, and as the spiked chain digs into the goblin, he channels more shadow magic into the weapon, causing the goblin's pain to increase and its own shadow to hinder its movement.

Before the goblin can recover, he swings the chain back, and then whips it forward again. The spikes make deep gouges in the goblins armor and the shadow of his ally claws at his back. Cross smirks as the goblin writhes in shadow enhanced pain.

Round 2

Hobgoblin Soldier 2 (G,4): rushes back forward and swings at Hagurr. (Att: 17) The flail bounces off his armor. The two soldiers start working together with their shields making it harder to hit them. (+2 to AC as long as they are adjacent to each other.)

Goblin Sharpshooter 1 (D,6):
takes aim at Fargath and fires. (Att: 28, Dmg: 10) His aim is true and the bolt slams into his chest.

Hagurr (H,5):  Attacks both hobgoblins with augmented Bell's Strength. He misses #1, but hits #2 and pushes him back to G,4. Catching his breath he steps in between the two hobgoblins.
Bull's Strength only pushes 1 square not 2 so I had you push him to G,4 which seperates them and then you only needed to shift 1 square to get between them so no OA.

Wren (M,6):  casts Viscious Mockery at Hobgoblin 2 (Att: 13), but the spell fails to affect the creature.

Fargath (L,6):  sustains Bat Swarm and moves into the room to get a better shot at one of the goblins. He flicks his knife at sharpshooter 1 hitting him.
I had him go up the other side of the room because if he moved where you posted he would provoke an OA from soldier 2. Still got close enough to attack the same target.

Cross (Q,5):  moves to close with goblin sharpshooter 1 dropping another shroud on him. He then lashes out with his spiked chain and kills the goblin. He then spins and attacks hobgoblin 1 with his chain hitting him.
First attack killed the goblin. I moved you AP attack to hobgoblin 1 because he is the only one within range. He does give Combat advantage and I added 1 to the damage as there are two adjacent to him instead of 1.

Hobgoblin Soldier 1 (H,6):  attacks Hagurr but misses badly. (Att: 9)

Hagurr, Wren, Fargath and Cross are up.

Flag SirK8 April 13, 2012 10:12 AM PDT

Cross staggers as the bolt slams into him. But there were more important things to focus on than pain. "We can't let that bastard get away" he shouts to the others, as he draws a dagger and quickly applies some poison to the blade from a small vial.

Cross suddenly vanishes and appears a split second later in front of the open door. Casting a shroud of shadow energy on the fleeing hobgoblin, he throws his dagger at the cowardly Hobgoblin's back, but in his rush, the blade fails to find it's mark. He curses his poor aim and then readies himself to defend against the sharpshooter at his side.

Battlemind's Demand: Hobgoblin Soldier 1

Flag Draidden April 14, 2012 9:29 AM PDT
Sirk8, I updated the map above. There was obvious confusion in my description of where the soldier was in the hallway. The hobgoblin is out of reach after your Shadow Jump, so I was going to change your attack to the goblin next to you, but figured I would double check with you and see if you wish to change your actions. Also keep in mind that the other 3 go before you do so the goblin could be dead by the time you go in which case you could just run after the hobgoblin.
Flag shanizar April 15, 2012 9:36 AM PDT
Fargath isn't going to let the hobgoblin run away without trying to stop it. He moves the bat swarm so it interferes with the hobgoblin soldier and then throws his knife, trying to slow it down as much as possible.

The bats swarming around him confuse the hobgoblin enough for the knife to strike true. The spirits again lunge out gripping the hobgoblin and slowing him further.

In the meantime the blink dog moves a bit forward, stopping short of the flaming braziers.

Hagurr (S,5): attacks the soldier with Demon Dance leaving a slash across his chest.

Wren (X,6):
moves to get a better shot at the goblin, following Hagurr's instructions. He attacks the goblin with Vicious Mockery, dropping him.

Fargath (R,8): sustains Bat Swarm and moves it after the fleeing hobogoblin. He then attacks the hobgoblin with Grappling Spirits and drops him.

Cross (Q,7): with only one target left Cross attacks the hobgoblin with Poisoned Strike. The chain wraps around its neck and rips out its throat killing it.

Hobgoblin Soldier 1 (S,6): dead

Tristeza (S,7):

There is a slight grinding noise and the braziers on either side of the room move slowly south.

The fight is over. In an awesome display of skill the gorup quickly wipes out the last three opponents. You notice that the braziers continue to shift south and then back to the north and then south again and in each round a jet of flame shoots from one to the other. You notice that it fires in more of an arch than straight across and with the steady pattern so it is actually easy to avoid. You also remember that it started when the goblin opened the door. Its body is keeping the door open at this time. If you move the body out of the way you find that the braziers stop.

You may all take a short rest. And then decide which way you wish to go.
Flag SirK8 April 15, 2012 2:52 PM PDT
Cross assists the others in dragging the body into the room so that the doors will close. When finishe, he wipes the sweat from his brow and then crouches in a corner, tending to his weapons and his wounds. "Well that was invigorating wasn't it" he smiles at the others. "We probably shouldn't tarry for long, all that fighting may have alerted others in the area, even if that bastard wasn't able to raise an alarm"

Cross spends one healing surge to bring himself to full HP
Flag shanizar April 15, 2012 11:44 PM PDT
Fargath also helps with dragging the two corpses back into the first room. He assumes there's no point in trying to hide the bodies as the room probably shows clear signs of fighting anyway...

He then tends to his own wounds, removing the bolt and cleaning and closing the puncture wound.

"I think it's safe to assume that the prisoners are further down into the depths of this dungeon. So we need to decide whether we want to push forward, trying to reach them as quickly as possible or clear side passages to make sure we are not attacked from behind later on."

He looks around at the others to get their opinion.

"Personally I think we need to clear out the passages. It would be a waste to rescue the prisoners only to realize we have an army organized and ready to stop us from leaving the dungeon. The prisoners will probably not be in a state to fight so any encounter on the way out might be catastrophic."

When the last foe hits the ground, Hagurr comes back to himself.  His powers again hidden, he looks winded and hollow-eyed.  "What?"  he must refocus to follow conversation.  "Oh, I don't think we can assume anything.  We should search every room, kill every bandit."  If pressed to vote a direction, the dwarf shrugs and points to the right-hand door, but he clearly doesn't care.

Battlemind's Demand:

Flag SirK8 April 16, 2012 9:54 AM PDT

Cross gives Hagurr a measured look. "While I do agree with you on your first point - we can't assume anything; I must disagree with your second." he says calmly, running his hand through his short cropped hair, "Don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to bloodshed. It is a matter of economics. If you kill two bandits when you could have killed one, you have worked for half the price."

"I suggest we take whatever course of action that would help us complete our task in the most effecient manner. Seeing how we don't have any clues yet to where the prisoners are being held, one door is as good as another to start with," Cross begins methodically searching the bodies and the rest of the room for anything of value.

Perception (1d20+7=10) - though apparently not very well.

Flag Draidden April 16, 2012 10:08 AM PDT
Cross finds the obvious stuff. The two goblins had leather armor, short swords, hand crossbows and there are 36 bolts. The two hobgoblins had scale armor, heavy shields and flails.

On each door there is a plaque. The one to the west reads "To Von Urstadt", the north "To Rivenroar Family and the east "To Von Jallach".

Each door is iron bound and has a latch, but no locks. The latches can be worked form either side and the doors swing both directions.

I will add the loot to the treasure thread and the XP for the fight.
Flag shanizar April 16, 2012 11:50 PM PDT
Fargath waits to hear what the others think of their way forward. In the meantime he helps Cross in searching the room and bodies. He pays special attention to the braziers as he is curious how they work, but he tries to stay away from where the flame jets were earlier.

"I we get attacked anywhere close to this room we could try to come up with a strategy to use these braziers against the enemy..."

crunch Show
Flag SirK8 April 18, 2012 12:29 PM PDT
Cross considers Fargath's words for a moment. "Perhaps you're right. They are right at the entrance, so many of those dwelling in here may already know how they work, considering they seem to trigger from an open door. But they might not expect us to use them against them. Let me know if you find anything. I have some training in manipulating devices, I might be able to rig it to trigger differently or shoot the flames in another direction."
Flag Draidden April 18, 2012 12:48 PM PDT
Fargath finds nothing else of note and is pretty sure he did not miss anything.
Flag PapaMidnight April 18, 2012 3:51 PM PDT
Hagurr stews to himself for a while.  Cross' comment about "half the price" rankles him, but he says nothing immediately.  When they start drifting, he grows impatient.

"Look, if we were defending this room, perhaps reworking the flame jets would be worthwhile, but we are the attackers here.  Let's get moving."
Flag SirK8 April 18, 2012 5:10 PM PDT
If Cross picks up on Hagurr's displeasure, he doesn't show it. He allows himself a chuckle at the battlemind's direct observation. "Well the dwarf has a point," he says as he slaps Hagurr on the back. "Let's keep on the offensive, better to strike before they realize we're here. One door is likely as good as another," he says as he walks over to the door on the right hand side and put's his ear against it to see if he can hear anything.

Taking 10 for 17 .. hears nothing

"Can't hear anything on the other side, shall we take a peek?" Without waiting for the others to respond he pulls the door inward just enough to look around on the other side.
Flag Draidden April 18, 2012 5:52 PM PDT
Yes you can take 10.

Cross does not hear anything from the other side of the door.
Flag SirK8 April 19, 2012 7:09 AM PDT
Ok, updated post with results and Cross' reaction. Although he's willing to keep a quick pace, but his occupational habits are to be cautious even so.
Flag Draidden April 19, 2012 8:28 AM PDT

The hall goes in 10' and then turns north.
Flag SirK8 April 19, 2012 9:04 AM PDT
What's the lighting like? If the hallway is dark, can we see any light coming from around the corner. Cross would like to stay to the shadows/concealed as much as possible while proceeding forward - stealth check (1d20+12=16)

Flag Draidden April 19, 2012 12:05 PM PDT
Oh, sorry. The braziers provide light out to 10 squares which helps light up the hallways. However, neither hallway has any lighting of its own. You will have to provide your own.
Flag SirK8 April 20, 2012 3:53 PM PDT
Cross will take a peak around the corner staying hidden (per stealth roll above) and hope he's not the only one moving forward
Flag Draidden April 20, 2012 4:01 PM PDT
The passage continues on into darkness which takes over shortly after the turn. You will need a light source to continue.
Flag SirK8 April 20, 2012 4:42 PM PDT
Having scouted as far ahead as he could without some sort of light, Cross reports back to his companions. "We're going to need a torch or some other light to see further down this hall", he says, making no move to grab a torch. "Any volunteers?"
Flag PapaMidnight April 23, 2012 10:03 AM PDT
"Oh for the love of ale, here!"  Hagurr pulls a sunrod out of his pack and strikes it.  "There, light.   I'll have to drop it when the fighting starts again."  The dwarf puts his maul over his shoulder and holds the rod out ahead.  "Where's a wizard when you need one?" he grumbles.
Flag Draidden April 24, 2012 7:00 AM PDT
With the sunrod out you glance around the corner and see a set of stairs leading up into a room. You cannot see any details of the room because of the angle up the stairs, but you do see that the room as a dim light source in it.

Map
Flag SirK8 April 24, 2012 7:12 AM PDT

"Right then, shall we see what's up ahead," Cross says cheerfully, ignoring any hint of irritation from Hagurr. "Given that light up ahead, there may be trouble, we should be ready." Cross readies his chain and begins to move slowly forward, motioning for the party to follow. As he moves along, he watches for any traps or other trouble there might be along the way.

stealth; perception (1d20+12=32, 1d20+7=22)

"If you don't mind the light behind a bit further back I can take it, I have a free hand anyway."
If hagurr agrees, Fargath takes the sunrod, holding it high so the light carries as far as possible.

"Maybe we should close the doors behind us. That way it is harder for anyone to know where we went and we might even hear if someone opens them..."
Again Fargath does as he suggests unless someone disagrees.
Flag Draidden April 24, 2012 7:23 AM PDT
The doors automatically swing shut if nothing holds them open.
Flag shanizar April 24, 2012 8:00 AM PDT
Then Fargath spends a minute checking that he will still be able to open it if it closes. (Tries letting one door close then opening it again, looks for a locking mechanism etc.)
Flag Draidden April 24, 2012 8:06 AM PDT
He has no problem opening and closing the door. The small latch on the door catches each time, but it is easily moved and the door opens again. There are no locks on the doors, so to lock them would require jamming them with something.
Flag shanizar April 25, 2012 12:20 AM PDT
Satisfied that the door isn't a trap Fargath continues with the others down the stairs.
Flag PapaMidnight April 25, 2012 10:13 AM PDT
Hagurr's grumbles fade away to a frown.  He hands the sunrod off to Fargath, "Thanks.  Sure, good idea."  Then he follows Cross at a distance, waiting for the 'scout' to signal.
Flag Draidden April 27, 2012 7:30 AM PDT

As the group moves forward, Cross reaches a point where he can see into the room above. You see a square bounded by glowing runes dominates the floor in this room. The walls are covered with empty alcoves designed to hold dead bodies. But most appear to be empty.

The square with runes is glowing and giving off a faint glow that dimmly lights the area around it. The thin black line shows the limit of your vision due to light. The bright area is normal vision and the slightly shaded area is dimmly light giving concealment.

Perception check for Cross: 8(1d20) +7 = 15

Cross thinks he sees something moving in the shadows at the edge of the light source at C,10, but he is not completely sure. He motions to the others and points to the side he thinks he sees something moving.

Can someone else please NPC Cross. I do not like NPCing the scouts/thieves as I know where all the fun stuff is and might make him search somewhere that a player would not. I can run him once the fight starts if you wish and will take suggestions as to his actions. Basically I would like someone else to decide what Cross does from this point. Does he move into the room by himself, wait for the others to join him and enter together or move back and join the others.
Flag SirK8 April 27, 2012 6:56 PM PDT
Ok, it's finally the weekend. So I have some time to post. Looks like I'm just in time too.

After signaling the others, Cross assumes they won't be far behind. He darts into the room moving right into the dark corner, hoping he hasn't been seen yet, he squints his eyes and tries to make out if there is anyone in the opposite corner.

 Stealth, perception (1d20+12-5=20, 1d20+7=12)
Flag Draidden April 27, 2012 7:43 PM PDT
Keep in mind that the corners are in darkness, total darkness, and so you cannot see any of the corners. You can still move into the darkness, I just need to know which square and you will not be able to see where you are going once you enter the darkness. You can see the areas that are lit, but as the light source is still donw the hallway it does not light all of the room.

I will have to work on the map and see if I can find a way to better show where the dark is.
Flag SirK8 April 27, 2012 11:55 PM PDT
Put me in H11, the lower right hand corner. If he can't see anything at the moment, that's ok, he's hoping nobody will see him there either.
Flag shanizar April 28, 2012 1:26 AM PDT
Fargath keeps moving forward, to J6, to light up more of the room. Especially the parts Cross pointed to. He's a bit worried as Cross moved out of sight towards the same area.
Flag PapaMidnight April 30, 2012 9:51 AM PDT
Hagurr takes a forced breath and walks forward, keeping ahead of Fargath.  (to I6) The leather of his mitts creaks as he tightens his grip.
Flag Draidden April 30, 2012 4:09 PM PDT
As Cross rushes into the room and over to the dark corner he finds himself running right into someone or something in the dark. I will correct and get the map up in the morning as well as the results of the surprise round actions.

Unfortunately Cross's attempts to hide were for naught. As he rushes into the room he has no cover or concealment and thus is unable to hide. All three of the rooms occupants spot him, but his perception check is too low to see any of them and he runs right into the gnome.

Tristeza is up. Fargath, Kira and Cross are up.

A nature check can possibly tell you some info about the swarms.

Flag SirK8 May 3, 2012 7:32 AM PDT

Everything was happening so quickly - Cross found himself swarmed by small biting creatures and a gnome hefting a warpick. This is what I get for acting so rashly, Cross thinks to himself, though he would never admit it out loud. Doing the best he can to shrug off the pain, Cross wraps himself in shadow and seems to disappear, he suddenly appears again next to the gnome, brandishing his spiked chain.

"I can play that game too" he says as he flashes a smile at the gnome and casts an invisible shroud of shadow on the small humanoid. As fast as lightning he lashes out and catches the gnome around the neck with the spiked chain. He channels dark shadow magic through the weapon while his shroud of shadow also smothers the gnome, causing his eyes to bulge in pain and fear. He jerks the weapon back, leaving a jagged, bleeding wound on the gnome's neck.

If Cross takes another hit that damages him, I'd like to trigger Shade Form as an immediate interrupt per my Assassin's Escape feat.

Fargath moves forward so he sees the Gnome properly and then lets his Knife fly. The knife misses completely though and bounces of the wall. The knife seems to have a life of its own however and starts flying towards the swarm instead. But again it misses badly and flies back to Fargath's hand without touching any enemy at all.

The map as changed a bit as I am testing out the ability of the program I use to show what the group can see and black out everthing else. So Cross teleported into darkness, but because the gnome was not in the dark he was an easy target.

Fargath then lets his knife flying after the swarm, surrounding it with a swarm of his own, of biting spirits.

Fargaths retaliation strike pushes the swarm back even though it does not hurt them as much as he thought it would. (Half damage from non area attacks) As teh little creatures step on the pulsing runes in the floor the light from the runes flashes up and several of the little things jump in pain and a few fall over dead. (Takes 8 dmg from runes) His attack with Biting Swarm also hits, but again does not inflict as much damage as he hoped or expected.

Cross curses under his breath when he hears the gnome retreat through the door. In his frustration, Cross is tempted to run after him, but caution wins out and he calls out a warning to the others as he casts a shroud of shadow on the swarm of drakes closest to him, "We'd better finish these off quickly. I think that sneaky bastard of a gnome just went to get some friends."

Cross lashes out with his chain at the swarm of drakes and invokes the shroud. He uses his connection with the shadow to call on Tristeza's shadow to attack as well. The small creatures skitter about to avoid his strike, but he still manages to hit a decent number of them.

OOC Show
From what I can gathered its Wren's 2nd round turn followed by Tristreza Seifei's 3rd round's and since Wren has nearly all ranged attacks. I guess it's safe to do Tristeza's 3rd round's turn with its move action now!

Realizing her team vulnerable position, Tristeza moved back next to her ally (@I06) to make a potent wall for countering the charging drakes quick bites and then with a subtle adjustment created a defensive measure for her allies's sake with her own idea of a vicious proximity.

The Actions Show

Tristeza is on H08 with a longsword and shield ready.

Move: Shift to I07

Wren (K,6): sings a little song which sends a surge of energy into Hagurr (Magestic word for 14 hit points healed) and then the tune changes and he sings a harsher song which is aimed at the swarm in front of Hagurr (Blunder vs Will of swarm 2: 19, Dmg: 10/2 = 5, slide swarm 2 squares to F,6. Sorry about any confusion. Somehow Wren was deleted from the list so I had to back up a bit to fit him in and that caused some changes. Hagurr's actions were made void so Papa you can redo his complete round of actions.

Fargath moves next to Tris and throws his knife again. The knife fails to connect with the drakes however and does no damage to the swarm. Fargath then orders Kira to take up a position next to Tris so she can use the blinking aura to get away if she wants to.

I haven't roleplayed it but I assume that the group has talked about Kira's powers of blinking.

Battlemind's Demand: drake swarm 1

Flag Draidden June 9, 2012 1:25 PM PDT
Yes, we can assume that Fargath has told the others of the blinking ability of Kira.

Round 3

Tristeza (H,8):  (Starting within aura 1 of swarm lets them make a MBA vs you) (Att: 18, Dmg: 8) Starting next to the swarm leaves Hagurr vulnerable to some of the biting creatures and they score more bites on her.  She uses Divine Challenge on the swarm, then attacks with Valiant Strike, but fails to connect. She then shifts away.

Gnome Skulk (G,11 ): ????

Needlefang Drake Swarm 1 (G,9):
rushes after Tristeza. Some of the swarm try to pull her down again, but she avoids them. (Att: 8 vs. Fort) She also manages to avoid the ones trying to bite her. (Att: 9)

Fargath
(R,8): moves for a better shot at the swarm and throws his knife at the swarm, but fails to connect. He directs Kira to move up next to Tristeza so she can benefit from the dogs blinking ability.

Kira (K,7):  moves next to Tristeza.

Cross (Q,7):

Wren (K,6):  gets an idea and rushes back out the door to get into position for his plan. He then gives a shrill whistle and somehow directs it at the swarm causing it to recoil and stumble into the rune traps. (Staggering note vs will: 16, 5/2 = 2 dmg and pushes target 2 squares to F,7 causing it to take damage from the rune trap. Dmg: 8) AP used. Wren quickly tries the same trick, but this time it does not affect the swarm. (Att: 10 vs will.)

Hagurr (S,5): continues to move around the runes on the floor and then Issues Battlemind's Demand on the swarm impelling them to attack him. (This mark overrides Tristeza's Divine challenge.)

Fargath, Wren, Cross adn Hagurr are up for round 4 and Tristeza is up for round 5.

Flag AllGame1 June 21, 2012 9:36 PM PDT
Wren watching the swarm attacking Fargath insured his ally's safety by instructing verbally with a firm, soft tone "Move to your left!" (Free Action: Vitue Of Cunning, Immediate Reaction; sliding Fargathfrom H,6 to H, 5) and with a change in his voice tone and with the grip on his small but solid wood stick in his hand he refocused his voice to make a loud high skrieking warning toward the drake swarm by screaming "Move back, you pests!!". (Staggering Note Roll(1d20)+7: 11,+7  Total:18  Round 4: Wren: staggering note vs swarm If hit push to G,7 then F,8 = 18vsWill, 5/2 = 2 thunder damage and Drake Swarm is pushed to g,7 then f,8 Granting Hargurr a basic attack)
Wren skrieking shout staggered the swarming drakes; forcing them back onto the runes and next to the awaiting Hargurr and Tristeza.
Watching the plight of the drakes, the bard then shouted at Hargurr,"They're coming your way! Hit them now!!" and then watched in anticipation that his allies, especially Hargurr would finish what they started on the mean creatures.
Flag PapaMidnight June 25, 2012 1:47 PM PDT
Hagurr grins as Wren pushes the swarm to him. "Gotcha!" he cries and squishes one of them stepping into his swing.  With a great yell, he blasts a waves of psionic force, but he slips and the wave passes over the drakes and rebounds from the ceiling with a crack. "Or not..."

Battlemind's Demand: drake swarm 1

Flag shanizar July 10, 2012 7:27 AM PDT
Heh, been gone a month and haven't missed one round

As the swarm moves in to attack him Fargath slices one of the drakes, dropping it to the ground and sending his spirits to grapple with the rest of them.

After Wren completely rearranges the battlefield Fargath moves into position to shield the tiny bard, sending Kira to help the others, before letting his knife fly once again. The knife connects to a drake again, and the remaining drakes find themselves being bitten and harassed by the spirits in addition to being grappled by them.

Flag Cailte July 15, 2012 4:39 AM PDT
Ok I have figured out where Cross is (E10) and that Hagurr is next to him at E9. Below them I think is Tristeza at F9. The swarm is at F8 and has taken 18 damage this round and has 1 shroud on it.

Cross watches as the others battle the drakes, soon it will be time to hunt the gnome. He whispers to the shadows in his soul and they reach out to the myriad little hearts of the drakes attaching themselves. Then with a quick step he brings himself up beside the swarm and pulling on those shadowy tethers slashes his weapon through the swarm without catching a single one it seems...though perhaps that one died of fright.

Crunch Show
Minor: Apply a second shroud.
Move: Shadow step to G9
Standard: Use Shroud. Shadow Storm vs Swarm (AC) (2 shrouds, 3 adjacent creatures) (1d20+9=10, 2d4+5+3+2d6=16) Nat 1 => miss. Shroud does 1 damage (after halving).

Round 4

Tristeza (F,9): follows the directions given and moves over next to Hagurr and readies to attack the swarm if it moves within range.

Gnome Skulk (?,?): ????

Needlefang Drake Swarm 1 (H,7):
rushes towards Fargath and Kira taking more damage from the rune trap (Dmg: 5) (Fargath gets an OA on the swarm) Fargath slashes and manages to hit some of the drakes. Some of the swarm then tries to pull Fargath down (Att vs Fort: 13 miss) while others try to bite him. (Att: 10 miss)

Fargath
(H,6): Suffers attack by swarm for starting in its aura. (Att: 7 miss)

Kira (I,7):  Suffers attack by swarm for starting in its aura. (Att: 17, Dmg: 5)

Cross (E,10):

Wren (J,6): Wren uses Virtue of Cunning to move Fargath out of the way and then attacks the swarm with Staggering Note driving it back into the rune trap again. He calls out to the others that they should attack now, but the damage is too much for the swarm and it collapses the last few creatures alive rush off looking for a safe place to hide.

Hagurr (E,9):

The final swarm is destroyed and quiet returns to the ruins leaving you with several dead bodies of the small drakes and the doors to the east.

Fargath breathes a sigh of relief as the last drake falls to the ground. He has never fought such creatures and he didn't like the way his knife was so ineffective against them. He pats Kira, saying a few reassuring words before turning to the others.

"Let us see if we can't catch up with that gnome. We better be careful though, by now he's probably had time to warn someone or set up an ambush."

Fargath then gets ready to move out, assuming they will move in the same order as earlier.
