@Papamidnight: Need to know a few things since you got my interest.
1. Are you looking for optimized characters?
2. What is your opinion of using 3rd party publications? I'm thinking of a possible flail using fighter/wizard hybrid using items from Mongoose Publishing Quintessential Fighter and Quintessential Wizard, plus Emerald Press Combat Advantage Magazine #18 (see the Thrasher article), and Skirmisher Publishing Dhanurvidya & Varman.
3. Does you Crafter feat pertain mainly to making magic items or can this be used to improve a item? For instance, adding a new weapon group/property to a item or perhaps increasing a damage die?
@All - I'm sorry everyone. I always overestimate my kids' ability to self-guide, and therefore I actually have no free time from 6 am until 9 pm every day until Jan 7th. I just had to be sharp with one of them so I could finish this post.
As usual, I will try, but I can't promise anything on this issue until Jan. 7th. I already used the 5 free hours on other games on Saturday.

Going over each character with a backstory. Here are some thoughts for interactions/relationships:
@You_Seek_Yoda: I see Darigash and Desmond as being close because they could have Mac and Callysyndra in common. If you're willing, you may have known the two already in the church before Mac adopts Desmond and before Desmond and Cally fall in love. So Desmond and Darigash may have been friends even before the two worked together in the Archivists. Also, I am thinking that Darigash is aware of Desmond's slight preoccupation with resurrection. Desmond is distraught that Callysyndra's spirit has thus far seemingly rejected his attempts to bring her back, and Darigash has explained numerous times why Flamers do not condone resurrection. Still, to Desmond it smacks of betrayal, and he continues to search for a way to overcome a spirit's resistance to being brought back from the dead. Further, Desmond was searching for the spirits of his mother and father in Dolurrh. He literally walks through a portal near Lake Dark and searches the realm of the dead for his parents, hoping to lead them back to the world of the living. I imagine Darigash being very strongly against this, and Desmond still going through with it. However, because Dolurrh brings about apathy in anyone that spends time there, Desmond asks Darigash to accompany him. As a telepath and an ardent, Darigash can help keep the apathy at bay by managing their emotional states while in Dolurrh. I leave it up to you Yoda as to whether Darigash agrees to go or not.
@Kalis5: I'm wondering what Roy's take of aberrant marked people is. The two are family, as Archivists, but does Roy expect less out of Desmond because he is khyber-marked, or has the man proven himself completely over the years to Roy? For his part, Desmond does not look favorably on the Dragonmarked Houses as a whole, but that does not translate over to the individual, since Desmond has known his fair share of prejudice. And since Roy seemingly chose the Archivists over Lyrandar, Desmond will relate with him (Desmond turned his back on House Tarkanan). Also, I'm wondering (and it's probably up to PapaMidnight as well) if we could have a teleportation circle on your airship. That way, the hardest parts of any mission during our years as Archivists would be getting in and getting the goods. Then Desmond could use Link Portal to get everyone/everything back to the ship in an instant.
@FallenIrishPhoenix: I'm thinking that currently, Desmond has been forced into working for House Tarkanan once again. Though he despises them, their spies have discovered the Archivists and they have threatened to out the group if Desmond does not return to them. Up until the campaign begins, he is taking assignments as he can in his downtime to protect the group. But he keeps this a secret, trying to handle the situation alone. I see Lo as naturally being aware of the situation through his information network. After approaching Desmond about it, Des confesses the secret. Because Lo is a changeling, I imagine even Tarkanan has trouble pinning him down, and so they aren't aware that he is a member of the team. I leave it to you to determine what, if anything, Lo does with the information (whether he tells the group, keeps the secret, assists Des on some of his missions, etc.) Also, I'm thinking that before Garibaldi's betrayal, in better times, Lo assisted Des with Callysyndra, giving him pointers on what to wear, where to take her, and what sorts of things to say. Des is rather bookish and insular at times, so I can see the charming Lo thinking him incorrigible when it comes to women.
@Blanket_Thunder: I think Desmond would love to learn the arts of crafting at the feet of Nienna, renowned artificer. Desmond often has need for items to help channel, focus, or augment his natural dragonmarked talents, but is not an artificer himself. Though extremely studied and learned, crafting is not itself a focus of his, and having a tutor like Nienna would be excellent. I can see the two working together, and Desmond assisting her whenever he can just to learn as she works.
@EDTA: I see Desmond and Orianna getting along rather well since they have a couple things in common. Both are marked by dark powers or forces, and both reject the leanings of their family or house. Desmond affords her a fair bit of respect since (as a defender) she has doubtless put herself between him (and the others) and all sorts of danger countless times. Desmond is also rather learned about demons (through Arcana) and can even summon a few. This may be a point of interest if Orianna is in anyway interested in her ancestry. (Regarding tieflings and a paladin backstory, one possibility could be: Instead of a tiefling, Orianna could be a sakah, a being born in the Demon Wastes tainted by the fiendish influences there. She could be touched by Cavian's power, but born and raised among the Ghaash'kala. Her father or mother teaches her to fight evil, like they all do. But having demonic powers, she also utilizes that in her fight against evil. I can see the Divine Challenge/Sanction being a sort of infernal authoritative presence that compels her enemies to meet their doom. Lay on Hands could be Orianna inspiring her allies with an infernal fury that lets them fight longer and ignore their wounds. Just some thoughts.)
@VoyRager: Theebacht and Desmond have in common that they are both scholars and both well traveled. I can see the two of them hitting the libraries together, or spending their free time in the same room together for hours on end, but not speaking, only reading and/or writing. I think Devas are agents of the Couatls in Eberron, is that what Theebacht is or is he more of a "free" deva? I suppose this is up to PapaMidnight but how is it received in the game world that a deva possesses the Mark of Scribing? Is it seen as an aberrant mark or is it seen more as a mark of change or dire portent in the Prophecy?
I think I hit everyone. Let me know if I overlooked someone. These are all just thoughts and some ideas of how Desmond might interact with each character. If anyone is not game for anything I said, feel free to say so . No hard feelings :D.

Is it seen as an aberrant mark or is it seen more as a mark of change or dire portent in the Prophecy?

Deva's Eberron History At a time in the history of Eberron, deva were allies of a certain league of Couatls who was at war against the demons spurned from Kyhber's workings.
Mark Of Scribing House Sivis are the bearers of the Mark Of Scribing and as for Theebacht relationship with the house is explained in her background story.
Below is enough information on both subjects to clear up your misunderstanding you have about them.
Devas On Eberron (Eberron Player Guide Pg: 34) Show
DEVAS Spirits of a distant age, devas are reborn again and again into a world that has all but forgotten them.
DEVA's BACKGROUND AND HISTORY ON EBERRON Stories tell how couatls, a noble race of winged serpents, arose from the blood of Siberys and fought against demons that sprang from the blood of Khyber.
As the demons had rakshasa allies, the couatls too had comrades in this fight. Devas, spirits of light born in mortal form, aided the couatls in their battle against the demon lords. Destined to be continually reborn into the world, devas persist in Eberron even now when couatls are all but extinct and few creatures remember the devas' ancient purpose.
Devas cling to the virtuous precepts of their ancestors, believing that anyone who drifts into evil is reborn as a rakshasa. A few devas even assert that they are rakshasa spirits that have found redemption, although most devas doubt such claims. Devas, with their spiritual nature and hatred of evil, often find kalashtar to be sympathetic allies.
DEVA LANDS ON EBERRON: Devas have no homeland and are rare in Eberron. A deva can go his or her entire life without meeting another deva. When a deva dies and is reincarnated, he or she appears in adult form, often hundreds of miles from where he or she last lived and with only vague recollections of past lives. Thus, instead of developing their own communities, devas dwell amid other races. They often live among humans and are drawn to areas where evil has a strong presence, such as regions near the Mournland or along chasms to Khyber. There, they work to stem the flow of demons and aberrant creatures. DEVA's DRAGONMARKED HOUSES Devas do not have a dragonmarked house. On the rare occasion when a deva does develop a dragonmark, it is usually one from a human, elven, or half elven (like gnomes?) house.
Mark Of Scribing (Eberron Campaign Guide Pg. 228) Show
House Sivis: Bearers of the Mark of Scribing. The gnomes of House Siv'is are masters of communication. It is the arcane mark of a Sivis gnome that proves the veracity of a Kundarak letter of credit. and the speaking stones of Sivis that let a person in Sharn send a message to someone in Q'barra. Working as mediators, translators and vessels for long-d istance communication, the heirs of House Sivis have played an invaluable role in bringing people and nations together. They have maintained a reputation for absolute neutrality and confidentiality for nearly 3.000 years, a vital shield for a business that carries the messages of spies, criminals and kings. Yet some wonder what secrets the house might have.Who was responsible for the death of King Jarot? Who destroyed the Glass Tower of Sharn? It’s possible that the answers lie hidden in the vaults of House Sivis. House Sivis is divided into twelve families including the Torralyns, Severins, Lyrrimans, Syrralans, Corralyns and Santors. The gnomes of House Sivis love political intrigue, and although this penchant is rarely allowed to threaten the operations of the house any heir might be drawn into the schemes of his or her family.
Feel free to ask me anymore questions about these two subjects and also let me know if you like to reapproach this interaction premise of our PC's.
@Papa: Since Khan started this, now I must ask: Can Theebacht have a coualt's friend?

Going over each character with a backstory. Here are some thoughts for interactions/relationships:
To add to these thoughts, there are possibly other connections based on when the characters were active with the Archivists. I looked through some of the backgrounds and here's what I was able to figure out:
Original Members: Darigash, Mac?, Garibaldi d'Tyrrian, Taursa's Mother
Member of Archivists during Karrnath: Desmond (?), Orianna, Lo
I don't know how people want to do things, but it would make sense if certain characters would have more complex relationships if they were working together longer.
Good point EDTA. Desmond will have been there during Karrnath, but is definitely not an original member.
Regarding an ensemble game... I'd rather not, unless I can be guaranteed action each time . It's just that PbPs are already slow, and then not always being a part of the story will make it even slower in my opinion.
And regarding White_Lightning's optimization question, I'm under the impression that this isn't an optimized game. But if we do go that route, I might ending up changing my submission, since many choices were made for thematic elements.
