Henry is quite lost in his own thoughts, and does not notice the exchange. Spot 3(1d20) = 3d20=3+ 0= 3

spot check (1d20+5=10)
The throbbing in Al's head gradually fades throughout the service. He follows the others out to the graveside and then catches sight of Henry looking out of sorts to the side of the crowd. He remembers having heard some rumors of his lineage and suspects some in the family might be offended by his presence. Knowing what it feels like to be an outsider, Al makes his way over to him, missing the exchange between Darcus and Jonah. From the inside of his jacket, Al pulls a small metal flask, unscrews the cap and takes a quick swig. Closing his eyes he savours the strong drink descend to his gut and warm his insides. He then offers Henry a swig, "Balvenie PortWood. Tasty. Could use an ice cube though."

"No Darcus, I won't let it go on." says Jonah, calming down, "You've been wronged and we're going to set it right, you, me and your nephew." He grasps his father's hand, and looks into his eyes. "We've got a lot of talking to do, to dig all the past up and let it see daylight. This isn't the place, but I'll talk to Henry and set up a meeting, as soon as I can, all right?" Jonah is keenly aware of Darcus' health and the stress of this meeting. He sighs, watching the burial conclude, "Okay, I'm going to find him. I'll meet you back here. It's a nice day to say goodbye," he nods at Silas' tombstone, then smiles and heads off toward the departing mourners. Henry Wilmarth is acting as the good host, shaking hands and accepting the mourners best wishes, when Jonah hustles up to him. "Hi," he thrusts out a hand, "I'm sorry for the outburst in the church earlier, but there's some issues we need to talk over." True to his word, Jonah remains polite and respectful, but lingers persistently until Henry will deal with him.

Henry is pulled out of his thoughts when Al approaches him. He smiles, grateful for some company. I am grateful for the offer, Al. I truly am. I don't drink, though. I don't mind if you do. You can sit here. As you can see, the seat is not taken. Aside from crazy screaming music, what do you do? I teach Chemistry and Physics at Clinton Salem High.

As he walks away, Jonah sees his father watch him for a few minutes before moving slowly towards Silas Wilmarth's gravestone. Under the eaves of the South Church, Henry Wilmarth returns Jonah's insistent look with a mixture of annoyance and puzzlement. "I can't imagine what, Jonah," he says between mourners, "I made myself clear before and I'm sticking to it. My uncle has just been buried, whatever scrapings you think you're entitled to can surely wait a while." He looks as if that might be it, but a heartbeat later the man's impatience wins through. "And I can't imagine what that even would be," Henry hisses back in a low tone, "It's not like you've been around, or given anything to this family. Things have been out of sorts for some time and I'll be damned before I let it slip anymore. If you want to inherit, talk to your father about it." When he turns around this time, it's clear that Henry Wilmarth is done with the conversation for good.

Al shrugs and nods as Henry declines a drink and proceeds to take a second sip before stowing away his flask. He responds to the teacher's question. "High School Teacher. Huh.. Good on ya. Takes big kahoonas to do that job. I remember what I was like in high school.
Me. Well, think my music days are behind me. Waking up in bug infested motels isn't as much fun as it was when I was a kid. I'm now going back to school to finish a degree at Arkham U. Afraid my life's a lot less exciting than you might think."
Al considers pulling out his flask again, but decides that its best if he stays somewhat sober for the event. He's quite content to sit beside Henry as he dreads the thought of mingling with the rest of his family. He looks around at the proceedings hoping that its coming to an end soon.

Don't tell me that just because you are not onstage your life is not exciting. I think that getting an education is the third most important thing you can do. Of course, you are talking to an educator. And as for the difficulty of being a teacher, yes. I agree that it can be challenging. However, some of the most challenging students are the brightest. They just haven't applied it, yet. I have a student who is really good at the guitar. He almost tries to fail my chemistry class and tells me that he doesn't need an education; he will be a rock star and make more in two years than I will ever make in my entire life. Since you used to be one, what advice can you give him?
Henry is glad for the company; he was starting to get bored with the ceremony. He never much liked funerals; he doesn't cry much and he isn't generally interested in what's going on. Why didn't I just go back with Susan and the kids? Oh, well. I made the trip, anyway. Might as well sit here.

Before Al can reply, a thin man steps up next to Henry and clears his throat. "Excuse me," he says in a reedy voice, adjusting his spectacles with a wavering hand as his grey mustache wiggles nervously. "Are you Mr. Alvin Wilmarth and Mr. Henry Jones? I was pointed over here by some of the... erm, the mourners."

..whatever scrapings you think you're entitled to can surely wait a while. Jonah blurts out, " I wouldn't take Wilmarth money if you put it in my hand," in the pause, but clearly does not convince him. Jonah's politeness returns and he lets him finish his rant. He does not follow him, but does call out as Henry leaves, " Maybe things wouldn't be so out of sorts if you'd talk to the uncle you still have." He apologizes to the other mourners and takes his leave, puzzled by Henry's outburst. He jumped right to the inheritance, why? What the hell have I gotten into? He walks back over to his father and tries to lighten the news a bit. " Stubbornness runs in the family... good thing I've got some too." He tries to laugh. "Darcus, Henry thinks I'm after money. Money for me - that's just crazy, I've got no claim, not even the family name. Now, money for you - is that what this is about? From what I know of Silas, it's not like he had a great financial empire or something, and from what I know of you, well, your finances look pretty good." Jonah claps his shoulder and nods to him. "We'll keep at it, I guess. We're going to set things right, you and me... but it's going to be hard and you're going to have to trust me, all right? So help me out." "There's something I'm not seeing here... when I first met Henry, he mentioned the library, that Silas left that to him. And he told me specifically to stay away from the house, why would he say that? Is he the sort to think every shirt-tail relative is a thief?" "Earlier, you told me that you weren't allowed in Arkham. How can your brother or your nephew do that? What say did Silas have over where you live your life?" "These things, that you feel Silas took from you, do you have any legal claim to them, anything we can bring to a court of law, or maybe just threaten to?" Through his questions, Jonah expects Darcus to lie and evade him, he's done it before, but he's watching his father closely, to gauge his reaction to this line of questioning. Sense Motive
