Trying out a couple of blues chords, Tak's expression doesn't change as he replies to his muse ~Yeah, send him the report Virg~  The second question does elicit a blanche though.  It's the old problem of working with Firewall - no matter what you do the work is going to take precedence over everything else.  Maybe he should have made an illegal fork before leaving on this mission.  Which certainly wouldn't come back to bite him in the ass ever.  He starts the intro to Skip James' Devil Got My Woman and answers ~Nothing for it Virg, unless this thing gets solved in the next day or two I'm not going to make it to that session.  Remind me tomorrow and if things are still looking unresolved I'll call them and let them know I can't make it.  Which is going to burn that bridge, but there's not much I can do about that now.~

Psyra waits until the others are gone and Oscar is ready to lock up before preparing to leave herself, sidling over to him and linking her arm through his. "Hey Oscar, how about we go for a little walk?" she asks.

Don't know if it should be Impersonation (45, or Face-to-Face 55) or Deception to pretend to be a mundane couple out on a stroll, but 1d100=63 seems to fail (unless I get a + from Oscar assiting or something?). Assuming he doesn't just blow my cover anyway...

Linson would want to check out collecting his biomorph. Is this available to be collected enroute? Or would need to wait for another day? Unfortunately it's a dead (pardon the pun) give-away that somebody is still up and around but a slaughtered group of agents has probably rung a few alarm bells. But I think the sooner Linson does this the better before the hunt is properly organized....

Frank checks on the route to the central EDC precinct for Linson. An entoptic map appears in the corner of the investigator's vision showing that the location is reasonably on the way, though it will take more than an hour to fill out the paperwork. With the VPN turned off for operational security, there's not a secure way for Linson to let the others know about a change in plans. He can try to bounce it through a few contacts to mask it or leave the errand for later.

If Linson wants to obscure the message a little, make a Networking check (to get friends to do it) or Infosec (to try and cover the data trail).

@The_Fred: I think Deception is best, but even with Oskar's help that's a failure. You can either use a point of Moxie to re-roll that (or flip it to a 36) or admit defeat and give up the ruse.

Oskar takes Psyra's hand as it is offered. He feels himself giving away the ruse immediately, but thankfully his emotional dampeners cover up any outward signals.

He doesn't say anything though, not trusting his voice enough.

Deception/Infiltration vs 35 (5 + 30emotional dampeners) (1d100=26)

While walking to the safe house, Oskar keeps tabs on his equipment, making sure it reaches its destination. The security meassures on the communication between himself and his robomule are so over the top, he is quite sure that noone will make that connection.

He also checks on the progress of his forks, still working on their own projects in his simulspaces and on the progress of his search algorithms, looking for the two perpetrators

"I have zero skill at this," muttered Linson to the others as the begin to depart, "when it comes to hiding my presence. Better I'm direct. I have gear on my old morph that can help disguise me. Oskar me old soak. Can you run a Networking check and/or a Infosec check for me to cover the trail while I collect this? Better now before there is active watchers. Maybe we can find a way to scramble any recorded vids of me wandering around the streets. I'm not going to get to the safe house without special attention so better I go somewhere public in the short term while you guys think of how I can be smuggled in."

Linson has only 10 on disguise and nothing to help him on this sync. Worse the sync's features are also known by our 'opposition' and would be easy to trace on a standard video recording data scan, Linson's going to need some help here or will be a blazing trail straight to the safe house.
MJ, where can Linson make the hop back into his own body?

@Thramzorean Show

I'll say that Oskar can help cover your tracks before leaving (he easily makes it) but getting a message to the others covertly is just Linson and Frank. Your muse can roll Infosec for you (rank of 30) or you can try Networking: Ecologists or Networking: Hypercorps (both 40; the former is probably better). Actually, you know that Tess is hooked into the Argonauts so I'll give you a +10 to Networking: Ecologists since that network overlaps the Scientists one. I'm also willing to give you a +10 Networking: Firewall, but that only gives you 20 total.

As for where your body is, if you're looking over this map you'll see the Mandalay Street station to the north. You'll be getting on the tram there, transferring in the central area at Cloud Suzhou. To get to the new safehouse you'd head southwest from that station towards the Red Line then the Salween Extension to Nai Pradesh station. Instead, you'll head east to Government Center. Not a big detour but, like I said, paperwork. When you get there you can switch bodies and blend in, so the Nine Lives guys will be able to track their stolen morph to the EDC headquarters but have no idea what morph that ego is leaving in. So you're fine once you get there but you'll be late to the safehouse.

@shanizar Show

Here's the current state of all your projects -
  • Simul2:Beta1 - Finished with reverse engineered Guardian Angel blueprints and starting on his own project creating a coordinated TacNet program for several Angels from scratch.
  • Simul2:Beta2 - Finished with armor-piercing rail gun ammo blueprints and working on an underbarrel design for your rail gun with a smart magazine.
  • Simul2:Beta3 and Multitasking Fork1 - Finished improving Guardian Angel AI and working on some skillsofts for it. Tests are proving tricky.
  • Simul1:Delta1 - Estimates he's halfway through analyzing hyperbright open source material.
  • Simul1:Delta2 - Still searching for open source blueprints, but mostly finding clues to piece together the Ceresian's unique morph. He's actually a bit obsessed, you might need to get a fresh fork for this one.
  • Simul1:Delta3 - Research on the Futura program is still ongoing and the fork has some new tidbits but mostly it's the same old. He's noticed some oddities in the conspiracy sites with information, though, but his limited delta mind can't explain what.
  • Simul1:Delta4 - Research into Watts-McLeod is even less productive than into the Futura Project, but he hopes to have something new soon.
  • Simul1:Delta5 and Multitask2: These two have made short work of finding the savant synthmorph blueprints thanks to the Argonauts on Mitre and they're confident that the blueprint is sound. Just time to find a fabber!
  • Simul1:Delta6 - These open-source blueprints are complicated but he's working on them. He can generate a list of what's been double-checked so far on request.

Hmm, well I think I only have 1 Moxie so maybe we just make that less obvious a thing...

Oh, also, PsyTECH #2 was going to look for some skillsofts (53 vs 70) - any luck there?

Oh right, the skillsofts...

As she walks with Oskar, Psyra sees her muse Reginald pop up with some pricing selections. In keeping with his idiom, the virtual butler lays them out in front of her like dresses made of code and metatags. She'll be able to buy skillsofts outright from a local Lunar programming firm for a cool 1,200 cr. Alternatively, there are some listings for Extropian firms and she can get those through her @-rep, but these sorts of deals aren't technically allowed in the LLA so she'll have to ask another favor of someone else to broker them through the graymarket. On top of this, she'd have to get a skillware implant which is 3,000 cr at its cheapest. Again, there's the greymarket Extropian angle for that too and she could even ask Oskar to help install it.

@The_Fred: So here's the behind-the-scenes score. You can pay credits or call in favors. Credits are the most straightforward; you just pay the money and get the thing. Favors involve using your Networking skills to get someone to give it to you because you're such a helpful society member. Extropians are used to working between the new and transitional economies so this isn't anything new to Psyra. Calling in a favor is discussed on pages 287-290. As far as favor levels, you're looking at a Level 4 (the skillware), a Level 3 (the skillsoft), and Level 2 (the greymarket brokerage). If you don't want to call in so many favors, I have options for lessening the burden a little that I'll get up tonight or tomorrow on the wiki. Basically, it involves subjecting yourself to dangerous sidequests for bonuses or a quicker recharge of favors.

Linson told Oskar about his new plan and trusted him to keep the others informed at need. He had mentioned previously that he would like to pick up his morph (post 3555) and figured they'd probably put two and two together as well. This was going to be safest all round. His morph had implants to help disguise him. His current syn would be traceable in the security nets to even twentieth century software and the sooner he dumped it the better. Otherwise he'd be banning himself from team contact till further notice, and who knows when they'd need his solid sensibility and gentle calming presence.

Linson headed off for the Government Center, the battering voice in his head demanding release from the metal tomb of a body quiet now that a solution seemed to be imminent. As he moved through the gritty rock streets of the lunar habitat his mind wondered about the async abilities he'd 'acquired'. And the interest shown in those abilities by those now dead agents who'd scanned his cortical stack. Linson shivered even in his metal body. The async abilities needed a biological morph to work in. They, whoever they were, would know that and would watch for bio's in the future. They were probably experts in asyncs to a degree beyond Linson's comprehension.
All the more reason to complete this mission and lay hands on that knowledge. By any means.
Came Linson's reply of a thought to himself.
