Just a reminder, John probably remembers that Eric is Thor's son so that's the most likely reason for him being here.

There is growling from the long-haired Japanese man. "Some of us only need one representative to get the job done." The well-dressed man next to him smiles at Keiko in a paternal way.

Also, I wanted to let people know that I'm heading on vacation tomorrow which means my posts will be (even more) sporadic. I'll be back home on Friday 8/17 but in the meantime, please be patient.

JP nods respectfully to the familiar form that he trusts is Damballa before him. JP's bright smile is absent however, wondering what terrible forces might have forced these varied collection of gods to put aside their differences in order to work together. He stays respetfully quiet until his other companions have been introduced, all the while clutching at the Gris-Gris with his right hand, and the snake cane head in his left.

Hmm... Well, I think Pashalik_Mons is m.i.a. for now so I'm going to NPC Eric until we hear from him.

Stepping forward next to JohnEric bows stiffly at the waist with an awkward expression suggesting he feels way out of his league. "I am Eric Donner, and I'm hear to... uh... hear to receive orders."

There is a heartbeat of silence before Thor roars with more laughter and beams down at his son. "At ease, soldier," he says through chuckles, "Parade rest a little!" He leans down and grabs a satchel bag from the floor, dropping it loudly on the table and reaching inside. "Aha, here!" he holds up two metallic objects and stands to hand them to the Scions.

"Reginnaglar," Heimdall says by way of explanation. "Temple nails from Scandnavia. They will connect you to our power." Thor hands a shining iron nail to John and a rusty one to Eric.

Apollo and Aphrodite exchange expressions at this but it is the sharply-dressed Japanese man who speaks next. "I have a gift as well for my daughter, Keiko." Hachiman, the fisher-god of authority, draws forth a large bronze pendant, bearing intertwined fish on the front and kanji characters on the back. "It is my seal and gives the bearer leave to act in my name."

After receiving his gift, Grimm examines it.  He wonders why his is shiny and Eric's is rusty.  It must be symbolic.  Surely, the gods do not show favor in me.  I have not been the best son.

For whatever reason it has been given to him, Grimm is thankful for the gift.  He looks at Thor and his father, Heimdall, and in a firm voice," For the glory of my battles, for the glory of my father, and for the glory of the Norse, may I not squander this gift bestowed upon me."

The Norse Gods seemed like rather good fellows, if a bit on the loud side for Thor. Surely parents like them had not deceived the mothers of the Scion, nor the Japanese or the Loa. Zeus, strong and famous as he may be, didn't even have it in him to face the son he had had with another's woman, though. Only once had he come, and that was all.

Penthos was thinking along those lines as his hand raised to the pin, and he touched it. He despised it, but he wasn't foolish enough to try and cross his father. Mythology was full of examples of divine punishment. Which wasn't the same thing as fair, far from it. He would see to it in due time, but he had a lot to do before that.

Meanwhile, everybody was exchanging gifts and niceties. Good for them. He didn't need any of those to see Justice done.

Heimdall follows Thor out into the middle of the room, and takes the two Norse Scions aside to explain.

Eric and John Show
"These nails are infused with our magic," the God of Vigilance explains to Eric and John, "and they will connect you with us. This one will allow you to draw on the sun's watchful light." He gestures to the shining nail in John's hand.

"This one's more useful," Thor tells Eric with a grin, "It gives you a true divine warrior's power. You'll need it, I'm afraid." Despite his words, Thor does not seem upset at all that his son will be heading for many battles.

Meanwhile, Aphrodite and Apollo stand with purposefully blank faces and approach Penthos almost sheepishly. "Our father wanted to be here," Apollo tells the Scion gently, "But things are a bit rushed. You can understand, surely."

"He said we should bring you something," Aphrodite puts in and produces two wrapped presents, one a small box with a solid feel and the other soft like folded clothing. "Consider them... overdue birthday presents from your relatives." Her smile is as unreadable and mischevious as a cat's.

As his two God relatives came to him mouthes full of explanations and hands full of gifts, Penthos tried to refrain from smirking. His biological father's habits were well-documented, after all. Still, if he wanted to be fair, neither Apollo nor Aphrodite had done a thing to him, and they probably had little choice in obeying the Sky Father, and furthermore, it would be much unwise to placate actual Gods needlessly.

The Scion took the wrapped presents offered by his gorgeous Sister, and answered the Gods
I think I understand, yes. I all the more thank you for taking the time to bring those to me. Could you please convey my gratitude to the Sky Father as well ?

Of course his experienced half-siblings would have noticed the lack of personnal connection in the words. It was a very proper and formal title, fit for the King of Heavens, but that didn't acknowledge the blood relation.

Understanding more of the gift, Grimm looks at his father and wishes he could be more like him but struggles at times with his way.  To be Norse, I must be loud and boisterous and full of might, he thinks to himself.  He knows he is full of might but struggles with the idea of neither being loud nor boisterous like his father.  I wish I could be vigilant and steadfast and watchful like him, but I know neither the time nor the place it seemsHopefully, this gift will help.  He remains silent and nods to his father.

Keiko can certainly still speak up but we'll assume she accepts graciously for now...

"Jean-Philippe," the dark man with the liquid-smooth voice says as he too stands. "Mon fils. I welcome you as well, and hope that this whole group can work together." Damballa, the Overgod of the Loa, stands with a casually imperious air, commanding the attention of even lordly Hachiman.

Next to him, the other man stands as well, looking even more unsavory next to the stron gaze of Damballa. "And I'm glad to see you too," he says with a sly smile, "I fear I'd see you in my halls before you were standin' here." As he winks, the man's mask slips a bit to reveal the skeletal visage of Baron Samedi, loa of death. "I got a present for ya, too," the Baron adds, flipping two shining objects in the air. As JP catches them, he sees they are two ordinary-looking objects: a metal cigarette case and small silvered flask. He can't tell anything much beyond their use, other than that they were owned by a god.

"We have asked you here for a purpose," Damballa continues, making a gesture for the other gods to sit. The gesture is followed, grudgingly by some and indifferently by others, until the Scions stand alone again in the center of the horseshoe of tables. "You are our progeny and so we call on you for important tasks."

"You will guard our meeting place," Heimdall says with a smile, "and let know one interrupt us."

"The night watch," Baron Samedi agrees, his smile widening and making him look at once skeletal and roguish.

Grimm is honored to be asked to stand guard for his father.  He does not let on to his jubilation and instead keeps a straight face.  After the mishaps he has had, Grimm does not want to squander this opportunity.  He would like to say thanks but realizes less is more.

After a brief second, he decides to show some gratitude and nods to his father.  As soon as he finishes the nod, he realizes, "I left my rifle in my room.  Idiot! How can I stand guard without a weapon?"

Grimm needs to figure out a way to get his rifle without letting on....
