If the party is really splitting up, Eberk would follow Eegan to Wynarn, if only to make sure that the party doesn't lose track of him too.

Ok, so Bosk is going to Wayside while everyone else is going to the university.

A long-time resident of Fairhaven, Eegen quickly leads the party through the western part of the city towards the Knowledge Ward. They skirt the rough-and-tumble neighborhoods of Rordan's Gate but don't stray too far into the wealthy Nealford neighborhoods where they would not likely be welcome. Coming from Sharn a mere hour ago, it is somewhat disconcerting to have nothing above one's head but sky and the scholarly group can't help but feel that Fairhaven is smaller and less impressive than the City of Towers. In reality, though, it is large and modern with impressive wealth, safe streets, and the magnificent towers of Fairhold to the group's left as they procede towards the university. Fairhaven's streets may be more open but they are much more friendly than Sharn's.

For outsiders, there is no clear indication where the borders of the Knowledge Ward might be but   it becomes very clear once they are there. The normal bustle of city life falls away to cafes of refined and knowledgeable people, streetside conversations of philosophy and politics, and shops selling artistic and exotic goods the average person would not look twice at. Rounding a corner, the group comes face-to-face with the large alabaster gates of the University of Wynarn, the ancient place of learning founded by King Galifar I's own children.

The campus is at once more empty and more bewildering than the streets, but Eegen knows the way well. He leads his friends into the Archeological Studies building and up a flight of stairs to the workroom and library of Professor Ash'tek, his colleague, friend, and sometimes drinking-buddy.

The good professor is not to be seen, however, as the four adventurers* enter the rooms, but a young man sits at the desk instead with books strewn about and dark circles under his eyes. He looks up as the door opens and his weary face lights up with excitement. "Eegen!" Garrin Jysfear says as he gets up to shake the gnome's hand vigorously. "I had no idea you were returning so soon! The professor will be so upset he missed you! Have you come back for the expedition?" Ash'tek's research assistant is good natured and bubbly as always, but obviously exhausted and Eegen suspects that for once the forgotten plates and glasses around the office are his and not the half-orc professor's.

*Minus Bosk Shakaal, of course.

Already recovering from the experience, Vul looks about the room as Eegen greats the professor's assistant.  It's amusing to discover that regardless of where they are in the 5 kingdoms, the offices of scholars are all remarkably similar.

>>> "Eegen! I had no idea you were returning so soon! The professor will be so upset he missed you! Have you come back for the expedition?

Eegen smiles uncomfortably as Garrin shakes his hand. Eegen's mind continues to churn of the terrible possibilities that may arise if they don't act quickly and so quickly draws the assistants mind to the task at hand,
Yes yes yes. lovely to see you again and all that. Now tell me where is Ash'tek. I must speak with him immediately. It is urgent.

Garrin's smile falters and he looks somewhat confused. "Oh, I thought you knew! You haven't come to... Ash'tek is gone, Eegen, he left to return to the Eldritch Groves site." He chews his lip, obviously worried that the gnome will take offense at Ash'tek leaving to go to their research site without him. "It was a pretty sudden thing, after you left last week* he was making plans for all of us to go back there, then he suddenly flies into one of his flurries (you know how he is) and says he has to leave right away. He took a few men with him for the journey and left this morning on the lightning rail." He gestures to the books, "I'm covering his classes and doing some research on this list of artifacts he left for me. I'm supposed to send him my findings in the field." The assistant laughs to downplay any discomfort, "I'm sure you can catch up with him in Passage** or on the road."

*About four days ago to go see Mennin Tyne.
**The seat of House Orien, located in the southwest of Aundair.

At Garrin's revelation, Eberk is less than subtle at his feelings about missing the scholar and explodes.

"This morning, you say? It is as if these researchers just know when they are wanted, then they run and hide!"

Once again visibly trying to calm himself, Eberk begins thinking about the next course of events, reflecting on what the assistant just said before regaining composure and continuing.

"Sending findings, eh? That means you should know where they were settin' up camp, right? Might be able to take the rails and get to them before they get too far out. Dunno if Vul wants two teleports in one day. Passage should be pretty cheap for that short distance and ... wait," the dwarf suddenly finds himself stuck on one point.

"What artifacts?"

Vul is unable to suppress a groan at the thought of another trip via the Orien network.  For whatever reason, he does not weather the magic well.  His relief at Eberk's distraction by the mentioned artifacts is apparent to all.

Ugh! Alright, third time's the charm, let's hope this actually posts this time.

"He left this," Garrin says, pulling open a few desk drawers until he finds a sending stone much like the one Mennin Tyne gave the party in Sharn. "He said to contact him when I'd learned something." The assistant looks at the clock, calculating how far Ash'tek might have gone.

"This is the artifact I have out now," he says, waving a distracted hand at the desk. In the midst of the books, a black stone statuette can be seen like a forgotten minature icon surrounded by a canyon of texts. It resembles a disproportionately squat figure with a long-handled axe held to one side.* "Dhakaani, but the rest of the list is mostly orcish." Garrin hands a short piece of paper to Eegen with a short list of a dozen items written in the professor's hand. "The rest are in the Drekaal**, they will only let me take one out at a time thanks to the professor's hoarding."

* Religion check to tell more, of you can ask Garrin Jysfear I suppose.
** Eegen knows that the Drekaal Museum of Cultural History on the university campus has a large collection of items from the Age of Monsters. There are Dhakaani and dragonborn relics but the bulk of the collection is orcish items from Aundair and the Eldeen Reaches.

Meanwhile in Wayside... Show
Bosk Shakaal finds his way to Wayside with Eegen's vague directions, taking care not to get lost. He finds the large Wayfinder Foundation building easily enough, originally a large mansion ceded to the Foundation by its founder. It still resembles an opulent house but the surrounding streets are filled with shops catering to expeditions and adventurers. Bosk has no trouble buying his list and stops to consider what else they might need.

Bosk now has all those extra items from his sheet and is ready to go. His other options include getting a map of where the party is headed from the esteemed Boot and Trail cartographer shop, finding an expert to consult in the Foundation itself, or going to meet up with the rest of the party at the university.

For some reason, I'm no longer getting notifications. Checking manually now.

Just to make sure I understand... We're here at the University of Wynarn to talk to Professor Ash'tek, a friend of Eegen, about our daelkyr problem. But Ash'tek isn't around, having gone to do some field research in a hurry without explaining why. In his place is his assistant Garrin who's studying some goblin and orcish artifacts from the university museum. What is it, exactly, that we hope Ash'tek can help us with? Or are we just checking in before continuing on to the old orc city that the wall carving from Ashurta's tomb indicated?

We should see if what Ash'tek and Garrin are interested in is related to what we're after. Our eventual destination is Niaresk'afar in the Starpeak Mountains, so if that is connected to Ash'tek's sudden research, then it's a coincidence we can't afford to ignore.

While Eberk and Eegen talk to Garrin, Orand takes a look at the artifacts on the table, checking especially  to see if they might have anything to do with Niaresk'afar. History: 34.
