If you use a versatile weapon two-handed that does 1d8 damage and use a 2[W] power, does it do 2d8+2 or 2d8+1?
2[W] doubles the number of dice you roll, but does not double the bonuses to that roll so it would be 2d8+1. That assumes you have no other bonuses to the damage, like strength.
Wash: "Yeah well, if she doesn't give us some extra flow from the engine room to offset the burn through, this landing is gonna get pretty interesting."
Mal: "Define interesting."
Wash: "Oh god oh god we're all gonna die?"
Mal: "This is the captain. We have a...little problem with our engine sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then...explode."

Just started looking at some of the other characters and noticed I forgot to add a theme to my character. Oh well. I only have the Dark Sun book anyway so I didn't have much choice.
I wonder if I should have organized my background differently to highlight lore and NPCs as others seem to have done.

I think it should be fine, I added lore and NPCs only insofar as it mattered for my character's background, and, from what I saw, others did the same.

Ditto. I try to always add NPCs into my character's background. It gives the DM some hooks if he cares to use them, and if not, it helps me to flesh out my character. Sometimes, when I am fleshing out a character, I will ask myself "What are the top 3 people who influenced my character and how?" It can really help to build a character's background and make them seem more like a well-rounded person.
