Players: I'll start once I have 4-6 players, but I'm ready to have up to 20 players. Just post a character sheet here, and once it's approved you can hop right into the quest. There's no need for numbers in the character sheet since it's a freeform RP system - you just need to convey your intentions clearly. No limits on character creation, except that it can't be overpowered.

Characters are recommended to be resilient to relatively harsh environmental conditions, and to be on the more powerful end of the spectrum (not Gods, though). Roughly Level 15 in the d20 system.

There shouldn't be any conflict. The two are different play styles and there is enough of a player base that there should be (at least in theory) interest in both games.

This would be a good guide. It's a list of players from Gleemax - clicking on any of their names will lead you to their character sheets. It's recommended that you pitch your PC's power level at roughly Elite-tier (or Level 10-15 in DnD if I'm not mistaken), or at the very least ensure that they have the means to survive rather harsh environments.

Talking about cross-group games, someone actually tried an RP-mafia game in the Gleemax forums, but it kinda burned out due to lack of commitment. IRC RP-mafia is awesome though, especially if you're RPing a bimbo.

well it seems to me that free form roleplaying is not a whole lot different than the games you played as a kid where everyone had superpowers and such. I've got some ideas and I checked out the wiki to see what it looks like. Will our character designs be public knowledge?

Name: Owen Vant Alias: "Vertigo" Alignment: Chaotic Evil
Appearance: A young elven man with pale skin, cold blue eyes, and straight, bright orange waist-length hair. At more than 6 feet in height he is exceptionally tall for an elf. Owen wears a flashy red-and-blue checkered suit and a matching feathered hat. A small pistol seemingly made entirely of light hangs at his belt, along with a few curious glass orbs and several knives.
Personality: Owen is a very showy person. He is meticulous in his appearance, taking pains to avoid dirtying his suit in a fight, using his hat of disguise to hide any stains that occur until he has a chance to clean it. He always makes a point to act as dramatically as possible, leading some to find him comical at best, and profoundly annoying at worst. As long as people are paying attention to him, however, Owen doesn't particularly care about what they think. He likes to toy with opponents he considers to be of no threat, but this can sometimes be his weakness, as he has a tendency to underestimate people.
Powers: Owen's primary ability is his supernatural quickness and dexterity. Once he challenged a swordsman to a duel, and proceeded to fight unarmed, relying purely on his ability to dodge each blow to keep himself from being killed. This continued until his opponent collapsed from exhaustion after several hours. Only then did Owen draw his gun and end the duel. His second ability is to alter the perceptions of those creatures he comes into physical contact with. Owen can shift the focus point of a creature's senses up to twenty feet away from the actual location of their sensory organs, even through walls or inside of objects. This can be incredibly disorienting to his opponents. He especially likes to use this power to show his defeated enemies themselves from his own point of view, right before he kills them. Finally, Owen has the ability to tap into the senses of any being he has come into contact with in the past week. He can see what they see, hear what they hear, even taste the food that they eat, no matter how much distance separates him from his unwitting spy. However, this ability does not work across planar boundaries, and Owen can only recieve input from one of each sense at a time, including his own.

Appearance: Will stands at 5'9" and doesn't look very tough. From where he comes, a human his size isn't expected to do much. He has green eyes and dark colored hair that is nearly black. When not wearing his armor, Will looks like the youngest in the family of Nobles. In his armor however, every eye stares at him. He has a suit of full plate that is dark green and has gold around it's edges. A longsword is in a sheath on his back and he generally keeps his shield on his back as well.
Personality: Will is willing to do whatever it takes to get his job done, if it's within the law if the side he's hired. A merc for both good and evil, Will only obeys laws when he works for that side. He is usually very quiet but once you begin to talk to him he opens up. He considers all of the people he travels with as family and is willing to talk about anything with them. Having lost his family to wars, he does bot prefer his siblings are mentioned.
Powers: Will is a skilled swordsman and spellcaster. He is also trained to heal and heals all of his wounds. He was taught how to swordfight by his father and oldr brother. After a few years of training, he went from losing all spars, to taking both of them down quickly. He learned spellcasting from his sister. She enchanted his Sword to change into any other blade should he wish to, and to summon his armor from anywhere if he needed it or wanted it. She also taught him a few spells. He could shoot magic missiles from his fingertips and store up energy for a burst of magic. The only flaw in his spellcasting was that he can't in armor. If he is wearing his armor, the only thing he can do is change his blade. This leaves him open for attacks if he wants to use spells

Her light-blue night gown is a bit too big for her figure, but as a keepsake from her mother she cannot part with it. She wears a necklace made of silver and a round locket. Inside the locket is a picture of a dear friend she lost. On her back she keeps a quiver of arrows and a shortbow.
Personality: Cirte is quite seclusive and skitterish. After losing her best friend at an early age by being trampled in a rampaging crowd, she has shyed away from overly crowded places. She tries to keep her gown as clean as possible, much preferring to stand near the exit of a building or in the back of an adventurous group, making sure there won't be too much grime on it. She also tends to hover slightly while standing, looking 5'1", so the gown just doesn't reach the ground anymore. She keeps to herself and has a hard time really opening up to people, often derailing conversations about herself. She may come across as quite cold, but inside she has a small heart.
Powers: As partly fey, she specializes as cryomancer. As partly human, she utilizes shortbows. This combination allows her to pick off enemies from afar, whilst keeping an area of about 4 foot around her cold enough to hamper opponents that would come too close. Allowing her to flee if the enemy doesn't resist cold enough. Having trained as a cryomancer since a very early age, her natural weakness to heat has been reduced to a minimum. She is no more susceptible to heat than a random human. Besides this, she has all the natural cryomancer spells at her command. If she is out of arrows, she can create magical arrows. These have a slight cold attribute. However, she is only specialized in cold, making her quite useless against enemies which have a strong cold resistance, and will need to rely on her teammates for that.

Anyway, guys, you don't need to follow Niek's (that's Minamitsu_Murasa) character sheet strictly. For example, he's the only player I know who gives aliases to his PCs. And alignment isn't necessary (he just added 'cuz it's a 3.5/4e dominant forum I guess), so if you're not that familiar with DnD just omit it. You can find a list of character sheets here BTW (some aren't magic-related though).

== Appearance == A tall slender man in his early twenties, but also with notable athleticism. He has short black hair, brownish green eyes, and a series of tribal tattoos starting at his right wrist and trailing all the way up to the base of his neck.
Dredge wears a suit of dark leather armor over which he wears a long black coat that nearly reaches the ground. Atop his head rests a set of small metal goggles fitted with purple lenses visible through metal slits.
At his waist he wears a thin chain in place of a belt, on which he carries a small dagger dangling at his left, and a small metal cage 'incense burner' at his right. A thick purple smoke slowly trails from the vents in the incense burner. == Personality == Dripping with dry and witty sarcasm, Dredge isnt afraid to throw out a joke when it would otherwise be frowned upon nor is he above taunting an opponent in combat with petty jests. Dredge enjoys chaos and chance, and on several occasions has made major choices based on nothing more than a coin flip. == Abilities == As a dementia caster Dredge is capable of summoning nightmarish creatures from his memories. Even though he caries a dagger Dredge has little in the way of actual combat skills, and though he's athletic and agile he posses minimal actual strength and can easily be overpowered.

Appearance: Gary has dirty blonde hair that is kept in a messy fashion. His clothing actually looks quite modern, with jeans and shirt. He where's a jacket that is sleeveless over that shirt, and has a side bag on him. On his belt are custom made bottle that he can detach very easily. He is only eleven years old and just starting out on his adventure.
Personality: He has a never give up personality and does what he can to win a battle. He acts kind to the monsters in the bottles, even when they lose a fight. He gets along easily with others and is always up for adventure. He'd rather travel with others then alone.
Powers: When he came to be eleven, he was given the six bottles on his belt. They are made to self repair and to hold monsters in them. He got to choose one monster, and that is the only monster with him. When he wants to capture a new monster, all he has to do is charm it, then catch it in a bottle. The one monster he has is a small red dragon. But he knew it would grow in time. He uses his monsters to fight for him, so he tries to command them from the side.

Steven hails from a state in Mexico, circa 1825, by the name of Coahuila y Tejas. Back in his own time, he was an outlaw and a gunslinger. If it were not for the mysterious events surrounding his death, he likely would have had an air of legend behind him that followed and pervaded Texan culture. He would have been among the first to shun the Mexican regime, and would have offered up arms and his men to the battle at Goliad- which he himself would have been unable to participate in, seeing as he would have been serving time in a Louisianan jail under the alias Jack Ripman -and stormed the streets of San Jacinto alongside Sam Houston. But as it were, Steven O'Dowd, the legendary Twatha Daye ( Tuatha dè ) of the South, vanished from Mexico a mere matter of months before the initial hostilities between the Texican rebels and the armies of Santa Anna. It was at that point that all who had previously feared him, or called him leader, or had written about his daring deeds had simply forgotten about him. He fell out of Mexico, fell out of memory, and was erased from history.

Steven hails from a state in Mexico, circa 1825, by the name of Coahuila y Tejas. Back in his own time, he was an outlaw and a gunslinger. If it were not for the mysterious events surrounding his death, he likely would have had an air of legend behind him that followed and pervaded Texan culture. He would have been among the first to shun the Mexican regime, and would have offered up arms and his men to the battle at Goliad- which he himself would have been unable to participate in, seeing as he would have been serving time in a Louisianan jail under the alias Jack Ripman -and stormed the streets of San Jacinto alongside Sam Houston. But as it were, Steven O'Dowd, the legendary Twatha Daye ( Tuatha dè ) of the South, vanished from Mexico a mere matter of months before the initial hostilities between the Texican rebels and the armies of Santa Anna. It was at that point that all who had previously feared him, or called him leader, or had written about his daring deeds had simply forgotten about him. He fell out of Mexico, fell out of memory, and was erased from history.
Although of profound Irish background, Steven is the bastard son of a Mexican haberdasher, who, one late, drunken night, raped an Irish nun. She fell out of the abbey, and, carried on the hospitality of the community, raised her son on the myths and legends that fueled and fed her infancy.
