Coop looks dubiously at the mastiff who is bigger than him. "Ah, so you're my team. Or, I'm in your team. Well, you know what I mean. Nice to meet you."
Once he's finished his own sweep of the area, Coop approaches Marty and begins talking rapidly in Gnomish: "Hey, Marty is it? I'm Coop. Great to meet you. I'm so glad we are two Gnomes on the team. I mean, what are the chances? So, I'm in charge of forensics, mostly. What about you? Oh, and where are you from? I cannot place you. I'm from near Korranberg, originally. But I've travelled. I've been in Sharn for some time now. Pretty interesting city."

"Pleased to meet you, I'm Delon," came a sideways quip in absolutely perfect gnomish, with more than a hint of a Trolanport accent, from the over dressed blacked-haired man who was bending over the sword Marty was holding, seemingly engrossed in examining the weapon.

It takes a moment for Marty's concentration on the weapon to break. He is as surprised to see Delon and Coop standing over him. He shows no surprise at Delon's fluency, Marty is typically more surprised when people can't speak a language, and Coop's address has already put his mindset firmly in the gnomish language.
"Nice to meet you Coop, glad to have someone else who can explain to these bigfolk that they are too tall. You do forensics? Your skills are definitely going to be key here. I worked in customs so I am mainly good at judging value, and speaking languages." His accent is pure Korranberg.
"You probably can not place me because I am already here, but I have travelled a lot. Sharn is my home, I was born here, and I have spent about half my life here. I have never actually been to Korranberg, but my mother speaks highly of it, I'd love to see the library sometime."
"Glad you like Sharn, it is really the only city I would ever want to live in. Every other city I have been in feels like a small town. There is always so much to do here, you can see more in one small district than you will find travelling for weeks in most other places."

The gnome switches to Common to reply to Delon: "Hey, Delon! Or is it Lord Delon? That's what Thane the giant called you. Please excuse my rudeness, this was not meant to make you feel excluded. I was just happy to see a fellow gnome. I'm sure you know the feeling. That is, the feeling of comfort from having something or someone familiar around. Or perhaps not, you humans are everywhere. I don't mean this in a bad way, naturally." Coop is barely taking breaths in between sentences, making it hard to get a word in edgewise.
Then it's back to Gnomish with Marty: "Don't tell me about it! Size-ism: a real problem around here. Even in the Watch, it seems the installations for us are often afterthoughts. Well, I can't complain, as I always say: at least they exist.
Languages! That's great! They're fascinating. I know a few myself. I like Orc for instance - very precise once you get the hang of it. The library of Korranberg... it's sooo amazing! Even if you love Sharn, you should go there at least once, for sure. It's worth the money and time you'll put into it."
Sharn... It has its perks, but I don't think I'll mind leaving it when I do.
"Ah, but I'm distracting all of you with my silly talk. I'll let you finish."

Delon suddenly laughed a pleasan spontaneous chuckle and looked quite different from the rather aloof man he might have first appeared. "Sizism is it? Tell me all about it. Do you know how many doorways and ceilings are built high for 'giants' in Trolanport?" Delon muttered in gnomish, rubbing his forehead in a reflex action brought on by old memories. "Just Delon will do, thank you," he replied directly to Coop in common, still smiling.

Following Coop, Marty switches to Common. "I don't mind doorways and ceilings. I mean, on Xen'drik I saw some buildings that could fit a Brelish town in them. I just hate being confused for a human child. It's one of the reasons I wear this sword strapped to my back." He says gesturing at the bastard sword strapped to his back.
"Orcish sounds interesting, I haven't had a chance to pick it up yet, maybe you can give me a few pointers some time."

Either Delon's laughter is infectious or Coop is in a good mood, but he finds himself laughing as well. He sobers up when he notices one of the watchmen eyeing him darkly.
Right, a massacre took place here.
Goes to show you can laugh about everything, just not with everyone.
"I fear my accent is bad, but I can teach you words and sentences, sure."
OOC: pausing here for more info from Haq, though I'm not adverse to continuing the banter.

Thane has been passivly listening to the loud conversations off to his side, but once they switch to languages unknown to him he focuses his attention back to the scene. It's a slow process scanning an area for what stands out and Thane often wonders what he might have missed in his search. After two solid passed taking note of anything that might be important to the case, Thane works his way over to Luci.
"My lady Luci, how's your part in the investigation coming along?" Thane stands to the side as one who might be a servant or bodyguard might. At which point he starts scanning the crowd seeing if anyone suspicous stands out, even among the onlookers.
Occ: Spot check for the crowd scanning is 11 Occ: The search was posted in a previous post

OOC: Had some laptop probs crop up; back and in working order now. Sorry to go silent without notice!
Luci leaves the detailed forensics to those more suited to the task -- but while keeping one ear open to the mixed gibberish and Common conversation with the last member of the team, she scans the crime scene for traces of magic.
"Please, just Luci. I don't want to give anyone the wrong impression...and some people won't talk to someone they think is nobility, which could cause problems when we get around to asking questions."
Being called "Lady Luci" clearly doesn't make her feel uncomfortable, and she smiles to make sure Thane realizes that.
OOC: Using detect magic to look for auras.

"I will do my best Lad...." Thane catches himself before continuing "Luci, its just the way I was raised. You are clearly suited to the title if not by birth but by bearing, but it bothers you in public, so I will, to repeat my self, do my best." With a small nod to Luci, he continues to scan the crowd.
