(If you have a better title, please let me know. I'm too tired to think right now).

One of the things we didn't allow in the old forums was outright gathering of interest on specific game themes, and such. I know there were more reasons back when the three GM's started, one of them being we didn't want it taking over the Tavern thread and we really couldn't make many other threads for socializing. Since we have a new forum, I'm going to try a few things out (like we did with the Tavern) and see how they go.

So without further ado I give you a thread where you guys can discuss what you want in a game, and a thread for Dm's to gauge the interest in certain themes, and such.

Actually, the game i wanted to setup was partly that kind of style.many newly started games would go on like "10 pages of introduction and direction", then players who want to get in have to adjust.

i'd like to do it the other way round. find a group, and have them discuss what they want to do upfront. pretty much like we do it at the table. usually, some kinks or common-ness would be worked out together, so one can more easily keep the group together without going through large hoops.

Alright - I'm not sure whether to start here or with seTiny - but I like the map that Shanizar has been developing, and I'd like to make sure eveyone has something to do.  To that end, I'd like to toss my hat into the DM ring (given seTiny's permission, of course).  IF I do, however, I'd probably want to run through my current campaign.  It's a homebrew mix of original + DDi stuff, done in 4e - toward a particular goal (which WILL be expanded upon to suit the party I end up with)

I would have a few requirements though:
As the base of the story revolves around a particular occurance, 3 roles will need to be filled: An eladrin, scion to an archfey known as the "Keeper of the Eternal Flame", worshipping Kossuth (yes, that's right, though does NOT have to be divine - the original is a blast Wizard); A dwarven blacksmith (must train athletics and endurance) worshipping Moradin; and a Dragonborn worshipping Bahamut, residing in Sigil. The story begins with the disappearance of the aforementioned archfey, a geas on the blacksmith, and some odd dreams for the latter 2.
I would want ideally 5 characters (to place the published mods without modification), the other 2 will, as stated, be given equally entangled roles.
I would want to keep it to players that have no other games to play (so more are playing, rather than some playing more)
What else... open rolling for all (posted), appropriate threads in the games forums.

I think that's about it - would anyone even be interested, or are the requirements too strict? (and again, this is all predicated on interest and seTiny's permission)

I might be interested, Pbn. I'd like to play a character at least partially of my own devising if possible, but I'll take one of the "slots" if need be as well. I'm new here and haven't played in any games so far, so the issue of not being in any other games is obviously not a big one for me. :-) Let me know when/if you want to get rolling, pardon the pun.

that's 1 down - 4 to go   Out of curiousity, the "parts" needed have few limitation (race, god, 1 has skills) - too restrictive? or personal taste? (trying to get a feel for whether I should drop the notion)

as we don't know where you're going with those, this is hard to say. it feels kinda arbitrary and railroady at first look - like the players have no real choice in many of those options and the later story, even though these requirements are minor.

still, this might be perfectly reasonable and make sense in the long run, i can imagine that having at least those three gods in the campaign makes for a lot of tension.

The requirements do seem a bit restrictive. I'd be willing to go with the flow, but I don't know about everyone else. You might work on a way to make the characters a bit more flexible. But either way, I'm game.

pbn, as you can see from my setup thread, permission from tiny is not that hard to get.

I was planning on it not being difficult, actually.  However, I am very new here (got here right before the rolll over - talk about timing), so I didn't think it proper to assume trust on anyone's part.

don't worry. anyone who loves the game just does fine sooner or later as a DM
