Aren unleashes a spell that severely burns the 3 orcs clustered near the doorway. Evowyn then slashes the orc in front of her, nearly finishing it off. The orc slumps the the floor and will morely than likely bleed out in mere moments, barring any intervention by its comrades. The two orcs near the door barely cling to life after being burned by Aren's spell, but they press in to attack Oth'ro and Evowyn despite that. Meanwhile the orcs in the rear charge forward, ready to take up arms when their comrades inevitably fall. When the orcs come into range Dagulf tries to stab the nearest one, but misses. The two orcs facing Evowyn & Oth'ro swing their axes at the two warriors, but neither can get past their defenses.

Oth'ro swings around his flail in a whirl and brings it down on the orc in front of Evowyn. The sound of shattering bone is all the more worse when you take in that it is the orc's shoulder that gets crushed.

Stand down orc scum. The one among you who stands at the back is the one we seek. Stand down and you may live.

Evowyn grits her teeth in frustration as the orcs continue to hold out against the group. She is more than a little surprised at the skill and hardiness of the orcs that Vortigern has managed to gather together. The savage humanoids are as tough as nails and she doesn't like it. Adding insult to the emotional injury is the fact that the group walked right into the trap. Although we weren't chasing him, Vortigern isn't likely to let us get off with a surrender this time, thinks Evowyn to herself. That thought in mind she stubbornly continues to battle the orcs in front of her.

Meanwhile she listens to Oth'ro's speech but maintains her silence. Although the orcs are being systematically cut down she doesn't have a lot of faith that they will surrender. Perhaps if the group can continue to overwhelm them then the creatures moral might break. Hoping against the odds Evowyn maintains her silence leaving Oth'ro to offer terms as he wishes. Instead, Evowyn focuses on carefully engaging the next pig man stepping forward to do battle.

In the back of her mind Evowyn silently urges Radcliffe to hurry with his healing magic. She is in dire straits.

Cursing his own inability to shrug off the effects of the Hold spell in a timely manner, Radcliffe moves forward at last. He debates breaking into a sprint to cover some extra distance but realizes that that would only open him up to easier shots from any archers still on the roof. Instead, he simply hurries along as much as he can without dropping his already shaky guard. Hold on, Evowyn. Help is on the way.

Now that he has his crossbow releaded, Corian tries again with another daze spell. He concentrates on the orc fighting Oth'ro, and a flash of light appears in front of his face.

Rad heads towards the melee while Oth'ro crushes another of the orc warriors under his flail. Oth'ro orders the orcs to stand aside, but the savage humanoids only snarl at him in reply. Corian tries to daze the nearest orc, but the creature is able to shake the spell off. Lauriel then calls out, "Are we retreating or not?"

Oth'ro looked concerned over at Evowyn. He considered suggesting replacing Evowyn with one of the guards, but he figured she was the better to have in front if Radcliffe was able to heal her wounds. He ducked under another axe swipe and prepared to take down the next orc in line.

Evowyn continues to fight on, trusting in chance and skill to see her through the fight. She is bitterly upset that some of the others didn't listen to her orders and retreat. Especially since her and Oth'ro's retreat was dependent on the others leaving first. The fighter instead prepares herself for the barrage of arrows, clerical magic, and slashing steel.

"Plan's blown, keep fighting here," she says in response to Lauriel.

Lauriel leads the other guards back to the rest of the group. The evil priest then utters some sort of dark invocation, although the results of the spell are not immediately apparent. Spellcraft check to identify. He then strides confidently towards the melee. Vortigern, still standing on the spiral staircase, calls out to his half-orc bodyguards, "Up here, we're leaving!" The priest turns quickly to face him. "Coward!" he bellows, "We had an agreement!"

I assume it's not a first-level evocation spell, so...

Aren thinks, but does not recognize the spell the cleric just cast.
