Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum, and fairly new to PbP.  I played Rifts PbP quite a few years back.  I just got into 4E and am looking to join a group.  I can't find any table-top games because I live in the middle of nowhere.  I'm going to check out the set-up section of the forums now.

Welcome! I believe there are a couple of 4ed games that are in the set-up area. Good luck with your hunt.

i liked 3.5 - once. then 4e came and brainwashed me. the fact that i can build a character now without ten calculators is my prime motivation in this.

It has to do with wanting Next to determine who won the Edition War.

For those of us who just want D&D Next to be a good game, this is getting to be a real drag.

hola to both aeolus and pclaw!  looks like each of you has already found a spot in a new game, so congratulations are in order...  we're still trying to get this place into some semblance of how it used to be... some progress, but some stuff is still slow...  maybe some new blood from you guys will spice things up...

Howdy Everyone! After navigating my way through a labyrinth of posts, I wound up here. Please excuse me if my post is naive. I'm completely befuddled as to how the new boards operate, let alone the organized structure of this group.

I've always been interested in play by post, but I can't say I have much experience. Is this an adequet place to state that I'm looking for a playgroup? To anyone willing to have me, I can promise my dedication.

This groups a pretty simple one Cgalic,

If you have any experience of old style forums you should get your way around reasonably quickly... The RA group leaders have done an AMAZING job turning this into some semblance of a forum and not a facebook for D&D.

Welcome.

Cgalic -  yeah, as Galaktia said, this is the place to be...  we're still working out the kinks of having switched from the old format with BBCode to the new HTML-driven thing, which people like me are just too computer-illiterate to figure out easily... but apparently for anyone with any familiarity with HTML coding it's a piece of cake...

the best places to look for games are the setup forum and the bulletin notice... new- and mid-game setups get posted in the setup forum, and DMs looking for players to take over open spots in their games generally post them to the bulletin/vacation/notice thread...  just keep checking those and poking around, you'll find something soon enough!

Hello All,

My turn to say brand new to pbp and hoping it works out for me.. I have been gaming since the '70s and have really missed it recently due to the real world stuff and that i travelled so much in my JOB that I couldnt even have a 'puter!  I finally got directed here about a week ago and now would love to find a game or 3 to join in on!. I have been to the setup zone but it looks like all the games are presently closed. So I will hope for a new one to start up soon. I am somewhat familiar with the old Greyhawk< had a character marry the adopted daughter of St. Cuthbert himself and got the lumps on me poor barb's head to prove it!> done a little bit around the Realms and some Dark Sun.. but that was all years back.  Saw a couple of Games for Eberon, and have never heard of it... or it could be that some of those knocks on me poor barbs head done come to me and put a memory or so out entirely!   Anywho give a shout as I now show up nightly and check things out. ... and by the way, where is that Tavernkeeper... THE NEXT ROUND IS ON ME!

Welcome, Khaerl! And thanks for the round of drinks! Smile

I'm sure there will be some new games starting up before long. Many of us are still adjusting to the changes around here, so things are a good bit slower than usual. Once we get the hang of things, it'll pick back up. In the meantime, take a look at some of the existing games to get an idea how things work in PbP, and keep an eye out in the Announcements thread for openings in existing games.

*looks around for Galaktia...seems clear*

And here's a plate of fresh-baked cookies for the new people! Enjoy!
