Home-brew world, so each character can make their own background, but a background is required to explain what they are doing in the town of Findelheim (where the adventure begins) and how they know either Alban Torres (a merchant from the small thorpe of Rotheford) or Allisan Vespa (the Abbottess of Pelor in Findelheim.
I plan to start the campaign at the begining of October.
Willing to accept between 6-8 Characters.
Post interest and Character concept here and I will piece together a usable group. Full design comes after we have a group.

Posting interest, and echoing CALEBROBERTS' queries. Also, I am curious as to the "theme" or "feel" of this campaign and world. I always like to see a homebrew setting!
I am interested in playing some sort of arcane caster, possibly a warrior-mage. I will begin crafting a character proposal presently.
Bandur Miliden has had many lives. He has lived as a tree for hundreds of years. He has lived as a great cat, a majestic eagle, a lowly mouse. Having gained great wisdom and power Bandur Miliden is now a chosen of the primeval powers of this land, reincarnated as a human man to better serve the spirits. He has been blessed with the ability summon a fragment of these obtuse beings to aid him.
This man has spent the last few years in the lands close around Findelheim. He does not concern himself much with the other humans of the land, preferring to stay outside of their affairs. When he does appear it is often in folk's dire moments of need. He will aid the very sick, drive bandits from a farm, help a woman who's land has been infected by a crop blight.
Bandur Miliden requiers no reward but thanks and maybe a warm meal once and a while. He is a servant of the benevolent spirits of the world. Often this contact with the farmers and crafts people brings him in contact with the teachings of Pelor. While not a worshiper of Pelo, Baltain is intimantly aware of the divine power of the Sun God. He knows the Abbotess of Pelor in Findelheim by reputation and they have met on a couple of occasions.
When he hears words of her request for help he is one of the first to respond, wishing to aid the kind people of Pelor as best he can.

Background benefits are definitely allowed, as for themes, please give me a reference to where to find them so I can make a judgement call on them.
Dragon Articles require special permission, as I do not have a subscription. anything you want from a dragon article should be sent to me via a PM before finalization of any design.
As for the theme of the campaign, The party are (as per normal in genre) would be heroes working in the city of Findelheim and are either replying to the request of the Abbotess of the Temple of the Four Seasons, Allisan Vespa, or are in the employ ot the merchant, Alban Torres, as guards for his caravan heading home to Rotheford, a small thorpe three days journey from Findelheim.
Combat will be somewhat common, as will social interactions, with an occasional skill challenge thrown in for good measure.
Themes appear in Dark Sun, Neverwinter Campaign Guide and Dragon Magazine.
You can see an example of the new style themes from Dragon NWCS here: link. The rules for choosing Themes are on the web page, the download shows one of the themes.
Kildrak, Dwarven Rageblood Barbarian
He is familiar with the merchant Alban Torres from the small thorpe of Rotheford, where he has been buying supplies for a few years now.
Kildrak works as a mercenary, mostly doing caravan guard duty as he doesn't like to spend a lot of time in cities. He perfers the feel of loam and dirt under his boots, or the hot stone of his homeland under his feet, than the streets of cities.
Kildrak is a tall dwarf standing just under 5 feet in height, and he is powerfully muscled, not from working at a forge, but from practicing killing things swiftly with large hunks of metal. He wears the hide of a bear as armor, and his black beard and hair blend into the black fur of the beast where it decorates his shoulders. His beard covers his neck, just reaching the top of his chest, suggesting he is not particularly old, and it lacks braids, though some rune carved steel rings are bound into it. What his clan is remains unkown to those in the "low lands".
Kildrak is no more or less difficult to get along with than any other man, but many assume the dwarf with be gruff and taciturn given his barbaric appearence (and his massive sword carried in a battered grey scabbard) and leave him alone as a result, which bothers him little. However among mercenaries he has a reputation as a trustworthy companion whose word is good until the job is done.

If themes are approved he would have the Mercenary theme which would add Takedown Strike to his list of powers: Takedown StrikeShow
Mercenary Attack You sweep or shoot through an enemy’s legs and knock it to the ground—hard. Encounter F Martial No Action Melee 1 Trigger: You hit an enemy adjacent to you with an attack. Target: The triggering enemy Effect: The target takes extra damage from the triggering attack equal to the ability modifier used in the triggering attack, and you knock the target prone.
